Just When You Thought It Couldn't Get Any Worse...03 Mar 202601:13:59

Welcome to The Hawthorns Debate Club – A West Brom Podcast with Jamie Clay, Joe Clay, Alex Collins, and Tom Goffe.

Albion are now winless in eleven. A gutless defeat to Oxford has somehow dragged this season to an even lower point. The performance lacked fight, structure, and belief. So where on earth do we go from here?

Eric Ramsay has been sacked. Morrison explodes post-match. The mood around the club feels fractured and desperate. In this episode, we try to make sense of it all. Do Albion need a short-term firefighter to stop the slide? Or is Morrison the answer — passion, pride, and all — to steady a sinking ship?

There’s frustration. There’s disbelief. But there’s also genuine debate this week as we wrestle with the biggest question of all: how do we stop the rot before it’s too late?

The Perfect Storm For Relegation04 Feb 202601:09:12

Welcome to The Hawthorns Debate Club – A West Brom Podcast with Jamie Clay, Joe Clay, Alex Collins, Zac Collins and Tom Goffe.

This is the lowest point in over 30 years. A disastrous run of results and performances has dragged Albion into the relegation zone, with confidence gone, belief shattered, and toxicity seeping through every corner of the club. Nestor has departed, Eric Ramsay looks increasingly out of his depth, the players have downed tools and the question now is simple but brutal: who is actually to blame?

In this episode, we confront it head-on. We debate where it all went wrong — the decisions, the appointments, the culture, and the performances — and whether there is any genuine reason to be hopeful, or if Albion are sleepwalking towards relegation to League One.

For once, this isn’t just venting. There’s real debate, differing views, and some uncomfortable truths as we try to make sense of how things have unravelled so badly, so quickly.

Eric 'The Ruler' Ramsay and Another New Dawn13 Jan 202600:31:40

Welcome to The Hawthorns Debate Club – A West Brom Podcast with Jamie Clay, Joe Clay, Alex Collins, and Tom Goffe.

A complete vibe shift at The Hawthorns. Positivity is back as Albion welcome new manager Eric Ramsay, arriving from Minnesota, and doing so off the back of an FA Cup victory that finally stops the rot of successive away defeats. There’s renewed energy around the club, a sense of relief, and the early signs of belief returning.

In this episode, we react to the appointment, discuss what Ramsay might bring, and weigh the excitement against a healthy dose of scepticism. Is this the fresh start Albion needed, or is caution still the order of the day?

We also look ahead to Friday night’s clash with Middlesbrough — an early test that will tell us plenty about where this team is heading under new leadership.

Mason Sacked In The Morning06 Jan 202600:33:33

Welcome to The Hawthorns Debate Club – A West Brom Podcast with Jamie Clay, Joe Clay, Alex Collins, and Tom Goffe.

It finally happened. This morning, West Bromwich Albion parted ways with Ryan Mason following a record-breaking 10-game away losing streak. After weeks of mounting pressure, frustration, and declining performances, the club has made the call many felt was a long time coming.

In this episode, we reflect on Mason’s time in charge, where it went wrong, and whether the decision came too late. We talk honestly about the warning signs, the missed opportunities, and what this moment says about the direction of the club. Most importantly, we look ahead — what Albion need next, what kind of manager should come in, and how the season can still be salvaged from here.

Feelings Of Impending Doom11 Dec 202500:58:54

Welcome to The Hawthorns Debate Club – A West Brom Podcast with Jamie Clay, Joe Clay, Alex Collins, and Tom Goffe.

The pressure on Ryan Mason has reached boiling point. Back-to-back defeats against QPR and Southampton — with performances as miserable as the results — have left Albion fans asking how much longer this can go on. In this episode, we dive deep into our frustrations: the baffling lineup choices, the in-game management issues, and the sense that the team is drifting at the worst possible time.

Fair warning: we rant. A lot.

We also look ahead to the upcoming match against Sheffield United — a game that suddenly feels huge — and share our worries about where the club is headed if something doesn’t change fast.

Autopsy of a Season13 May 202200:53:21

Welcome To The Hawthorns Debate Club. A West Brom Podcast with Jamie Clay, Joe Clay and Alex Collins.

In this weeks episode we enter the morgue and perform a post mortem on the season. We dissect what went wrong and what was the underlying problem. It’s a season review where we knowingly stretch the autopsy analogy as far as it will go, so prepare yourself for that. We briefly talk about the palate cleanser of a game against Barnsley. We also talk about the first rumblings of transfer activity. Hands are key? Swift Saviour? Cause of death?

In this weeks episode because this season is dead and buried… We decided to tear open the mail bag and answer your questions ahead of our final game. Troubleshooting A Failed Season27 Apr 202200:50:46

Welcome To The Hawthorns Debate Club. A West Brom Podcast with Jamie Clay, Joe Clay and Alex Collins.

In this week’s sleepy episode we hammer the final few rusty nails into the coffin of the season that promised so much but delivered so little. We briefly mention the Coventry game, before turning our eyes to the future. We discuss the reports that Steve Bruce will seemingly be in charge next season, is this a good thing or a bad thing? We then turn our attention to troubleshooting the deeper issues at the club, before we each offer an elevator pitch as to how we'd fix the club. Ron pick up the phone... we are expecting your call. Are Albion fans entitled? Joe is the new Paul Scharner? Riding an elevator to the ISS? Business Architecture to the rescue?

Is This The Turning Point? 02 Dec 202500:56:25

Welcome to The Hawthorns Debate Club – A West Brom Podcast with Jamie Clay, Joe Clay, Alex Collins, and Tom Goffe.

What a difference 90 minutes can make. After an incredible 3–2 comeback victory over Swansea, the mood around Albion has flipped on its head. For a moment it looked like Ryan Mason was hanging by a thread — by full-time he was being hailed as the hero. But is this dramatic win the turning point Albion desperately needed, or just another twist in an unpredictable season?

In this episode, we dig deep into the Swansea match: the chaos, the character, the tactical shifts, and the manager’s rollercoaster of a night. We discuss what the result means for Mason’s future, whether this sparks real momentum, and how much faith we should place in a team that managed to swing from crisis to ecstasy in one evening.

We also look ahead to the upcoming clashes with QPR and Southampton — two games that could either build on this new sense of belief or send us straight back into uncertainty.

I’m not Angry, I’m Just Disappointed By How Angry You Make Me...20 Apr 202200:59:56

Welcome To The Hawthorns Debate Club. A West Brom Podcast with Jamie Clay, Joe Clay and Alex Collins.

In this week’s Lord of the Rings length episode, we continue the never-ending conversation about the epic mess we find ourselves in. We talk about a victory against Blackpool that felt like a loss and a loss against Forest that felt like the last nail in the coffin of this miserable season. We actually debate about the perceived attitude problem in the present playing squad. We also ask, do these last two games finally mean the end of the road for Bruce? We also chat about the booing of CR7 and the referee who maybe wanted Bruce gone too. Before wrapping up with some predictions about the Coventry Game. Is it over yet? Scapegoating? Bruce Out?

Consistently Inconsistent13 Apr 202200:46:23

Welcome To The Hawthorns Debate Club. A West Brom Podcast with Jamie Clay, Joe Clay and Alex Collins.

In this week’s jazz free form episode we wade through the thick balmy layers of mediocrity. We talk about our consistent inconsistency in our last three games against The Blues, The Cherries and Stoke. We talk about Andy Carroll and his future. We talk about the effort and attitude and the response to our current form from the players. We ask the question is it simply all the players fault or does the blame spread further and deeper? Before making some predictions about the Blackpool and Forest game? All hope is gone? More likely than a shark attack? Blood the youngsters?
