We also dive into the heated debate over whether Orange Cassidy deserves a world title run, the state of the AEW women's division, tribalism in wrestling fandom, and why AEW's own high standards might be its biggest problem right now.

Episode 98 of the Group Chat Wrestling Podcast is here, and somehow AEW has created its own version of the FA Cup.

We break down the Continental Cup format, who should win it, why the tournament could have been so much bigger, and whether it already feels more exciting than SummerSlam.

We also preview AEW Grand Slam México, including Mercedes Moné versus Willow Nightingale, Moxley and the Death Riders, Hangman Page, Will Ospreay, the possibility of MJF returning, and a ridiculously stacked card.

Plus, SummerSlam’s good moments, bad matches and very ugly nonsense, Danhausen, money on a pole, Robocop being disrespected in Detroit, and why AEW should let indie wrestlers qualify for the Continental Cup properly.

The Group Chat Wrestling Podcast is finally back—and within minutes, we’re discussing CM Punk’s entirely natural straight-edge transformation, arguing over whether the Beatles or the Ramones are overrated, and responding calmly and maturely to our latest reviews.

We then get into the current state of AEW. Has consistently brilliant wrestling made brilliant matches feel less special? Are the stories missing the emotional stakes they had this time last year? Have the Death Riders completely lost their way, and is Jon Moxley helping Will Ospreay—or dragging him down?

We also preview and predict AEW Redemption, discuss the treatment of the women’s division, fantasy-book the road to All In, answer your questions and somehow find time to insult anime, Danhausen and Giant González.

Most importantly, we send all our love and support to Tanea “Rebel” Brooks. You can learn more about Rebel’s fight, support I AM ALS and make a donation here:

We break down the latest round of cuts, who we think lands where, and which names could actually come out BETTER from this. Because let’s be honest… sometimes getting released is the best thing that can happen.

We get into:

Who could thrive on the indies, AEW, TNA or Japan

Why some names might be DONE at the top level

The grim reality of contracts, job losses, and fan reactions

Who we’d sign if we were running AEW right now

Plus:

The Wyatt 6 situation and WWE’s “legacy” efforts

Malakai Black debate (and why not everyone wants him back 👀)

Kairi Sane… HOW do you let her go?!

Motor City Machine Guns, Apollo Crews & more

Who actually wins after leaving WWE (no Cardona allowed 😅)

And as always… tangents, chaos, and probably a few opinions people won’t like.

WrestleMania week… and we (well, WrestlingMark) have got A LOT to say.

From a soulless two-night spectacle (yeah, we said it) to the absolute chaos and magic of the indie scene, Episode 90 is a mixed bag of ranting, praising, and maybe a bit of hope for wrestling’s future.

In this episode:

Our brutally honest WrestleMania review (was it really that bad?)

Why the main event saved something… but not enough

The indie scene stealing the entire weekend (GCW, indie matches, and vibes)

Darby Allin as champion… are we buying it?

AEW’s direction heading into Double or Nothing

The women’s division… still doing our heads in

Random madness, conspiracy energy, and the usual nonsense

Look… we LOVE wrestling. But that doesn’t mean we won’t call it out when it’s shite.

If you’re tired of the same safe takes and want something a bit more honest, this is the one.

Episode 89 is here and we break down AEW Dynasty in full, from the absolute madness of the tag matches to the fallout heading into Dynamite… and yeah, we get stuck into that main event situation.

We talk Young Bucks doing Young Bucks things (again), Takeshita and Okada finally moving, Jericho somehow turning back the clock, and whether AEW are actually pulling the trigger on some big changes… or just teasing us again.

There’s debate, there’s shouting, there’s conspiracy theories (of course), and there’s a LOT of strong opinions on where things are heading next.

We also go off on one about TNA, booking decisions, and why wrestling fans can’t agree on anything ever.

ATTACK! 15th Anniversary Review | The "EC-Drew" Entrance & A Historic Main Event | EP88

Andy is finally back from Cardiff (after a 5-hour trek that somehow takes longer than getting to Manchester) and we’re diving into the absolute madness that was the ATTACK! 15th Anniversary show.

600 people crammed into the venue, "Sex Bomb" medleys for Paul London, and a main event that genuinely felt like a massive deal for the UK scene. We’re breaking it all down, from the matches that exceeded expectations to the "goofy wrestling" moments that make ATTACK! what it is.

What we’re talking about:

The Main Event: Dani Luna and Kanji proving they aren’t just the best "women" wrestlers, but two of the best in the world, full stop.

The "EC-Drew" Entrance.

The Return of Eddie Dennis: A massive pop in the middle of the Mark Andrews vs Josh Holly "Courtroom Brawl."

That Head Bump: Tommy Vril vs Kara Noir was a "ballet of violence" but had us genuinely worried for a second.

The Weird & Wonderful Rumble: Including Leon Cage, Sexy E... Matt Gatlin, Simon Miller’s surprise, CAW, the the Love-Making Demon , and more.

Title Changes: New Tag Champs, a 24/7 shocker, and the crowning of a new World Champion.

If you weren’t in that room, you missed a celebration. If you were, let’s relive the chaos.

💬 Let us know in the comments:

Was the trek to Cardiff worth it? What was your match of the night? And how loud was it actually in that venue?

AEW is still the best wrestling show going… but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect.

This week it’s just Andy & Wrestling Mark — no filters, just guys lads calling it how it is.

We get into:

The big Wembley question: Omega or MJF vs Ospreay?

Why the women’s division feels off again

The Death Riders / Callis vortex finally ending (we think…)

Takeshita, Okada, and wasted momentum

What AEW NEEDS to fix heading into All In

And a few slightly unhinged ideas along the way…

This isn’t hate — it’s because we care. When AEW hits, nothing touches it.

💬 Let us know in the comments:

How would YOU fix AEW right now? And who should face Ospreay at Wembley?

The Casino Battle Royale and the usual madness that comes with it

Along the way the conversation goes completely off the rails as we also discuss:

Potential returns, debuts, and wild conspiracy theories

Why Andy may have finally lost his mind over The Opps and the Deathriders

The Outrunners agenda (always)

Lucy’s prediction record somehow getting even worse

And why wrestling fans can’t behave themselves on the internet

As always, this isn’t a polished analysis show — it’s wrestling chat the way it should be: like a bunch of mates in the pub arguing about wrestling.

We are BACK.

After releasing at least one episode every single week since day one, we’ve finally had our first unintended break… two whole weeks.

Life happened. But we’re back in the saddle.

And what a week to return.

This episode we dive headfirst into:

🔥 Swerve Strickland’s full heel turn – necessary? Perfect? Is Nana in danger?

🔥 The Death Riders / Callis vortex – who’s actually coming out better?

🔥 Wheeler Yuta discourse (yes… somehow we did 15 minutes on Yuta).

🔥 Andrade being on absolute FIRE – push him to the moon or risk cooling him off?

🔥 Tekla, Mercedes, Toni, Willow and the absolute madness of the women’s division.

🔥 Bucks vs FTR AGAIN (and why that’s not a bad thing).

🔥 Revolution card predictions.

🔥 The mystery box… Danhausen? Joe Hendry? The Rock? The Gobbledygooker?

Somewhere along the way:

🧈 WWE became a metaphor involving overpriced supermarket butter.

🧈 Hook’s leadership credentials were questioned aggressively.

🧈 Things got heated… because we actually care.

AEW feels alive.

WWE feels… expensive and spreadable.

And we’re arguing because wrestling is supposed to make you feel something.

Episode 83 is a one-hour, two-man deep dive with Brett and Dan, getting properly honest about where AEW is thriving — and where it’s actively holding itself back.

We start on a long-overdue soapbox rant about AEW’s women’s division: why it feels like it’s regressed despite having the talent, what “good enough” booking looks like in 2026, and why this week feels like the right time for at least two title changes if AEW is serious about resetting the table.

From there, we zoom out into AEW’s wider storytelling issues — character consistency, start-stop momentum, and the growing need for a hard ROH / AEW brand split to stop everything bleeding into everything else. We also talk roster growth, what’s actually working right now, and why Andrade El Idolo and Tommaso Ciampa somehow feel hotter than they ever did in the Black & Gold era.

There’s fantasy booking too: how Jay White and Buddy Matthews should return, why Australia feels like the perfect stage, and what the Hangman–Swerve–Omega dynamic tells us about AEW’s main event future heading into Revolution.

We also touch on AEW announcing Double or Nothing 2026 in New York City, Brett’s home turf, and the genuinely intriguing idea of Zohran Mamdani involvement.

And finally: if AJ Styles did arrive in AEW — a big if — we lay out the dream matches that would actually make it worth doing.

Thoughtful criticism, clear ideas, and no bad-faith nonsense.

Episode 82 is a two-man chaos shift as Wrestling Mark and Andy do what they “never” do and start with WWE, ripping into the Royal Rumble, the lifeless booking, and why so many ex-AEW names feel like they’ve been dropped into a punishment ritual instead of treated like stars. We talk Roman winning, the weird timing around Triple H criticism, and why it might finally feel like Dwayne Johnson is lining up a power move.

Then we flip to AEW and get properly honest: not bad faith, not tribalism, just the reality that AEW set the bar so high that “good matches” alone doesn’t hit the same anymore. We break down the Death Riders hangover, rotating pushes, why some big moments have felt flatter than they should, and what AEW needs to do to get that “I have to stay up till 3am” feeling back.

On the upside, there are real signs of life: the main event scene is stacked, Andrade feels reborn, Ricochet’s cooking , and we fantasy-book the most obvious (and most exciting) move possible: AJ Styles in AEW, with a proper run and a retirement done right.

Also: hair vs hair predictions, women’s division frustration, and yes, White Castle catches strays again.

Are wrestling promotions having an identity crisis?

In Episode 81 of the Groupchat Wrestling Podcast, we break down TNA’s highly anticipated AMC debut and ask the uncomfortable question – what went wrong? We dig into creative decisions, presentation issues, and why fans came away frustrated despite wanting TNA to succeed.

We also dive into AEW’s current direction, including heels vs faces, character consistency, and why Swerve Strickland could be the biggest heat magnet in wrestling if they play it right. Is a major turn coming, and does AEW know when to pull the trigger?

Plus:

AEW’s storytelling strengths and weak spots

The future of Ring of Honor

AJ Styles’ contract and what comes next

Why women’s and tag team divisions still need better booking

How wrestling can capitalise on momentum instead of killing it

Smart takes, honest criticism, and proper pub-chat wrestling discourse.

It’s awards season, Groupchat style. Welcome to the 2025 Groupchat Wrestling Podcast Awards.

We hand out awards for Men’s, Women’s and Tag Team Wrestler of the Year, debate Match of the Year, crown the best events and promotions of 2025, and highlight the performances, transformations, and moments that defined the year across AEW, WWE, and independent wrestling.

From elite in-ring work and emotional highs to accidental comedy, baffling internet takes, and discourse that should’ve stayed in the drafts, nothing is safe. There’s love for indie wrestling, appreciation for genuine reinventions, shout-outs to the biggest pops of the year, and plenty of arguing over what worked, what didn’t, and why wrestling fans are Like That.

We also take a moment to reflect on emotional milestones, legacies, and retirements, proving once again that wrestling can still hit you right in the feelings… even while the internet is losing its mind.

It’s December, everyone’s knackered, schedules are all over the place… so this is a quick, slightly chaotic episode before we head to AEW Dynamite tomorrow.

Just Andy and Wrestling Mark this week, squeezed in between work, life, and wrestling plans, talking through what’s been a really strong week for AEW, the buzz around live crowds, and why things actually feel exciting heading into the end of the year.

We also get into:

Another WWE “new era” and why that phrase means less every time

John Cena’s retirement and the flat execution around it

The contrast between AEW momentum and WWE wheel-spinning

It’s rushed, it’s raw, and it’s very much a December wrestling pod — recorded on the fly before Dynamite, with pints already on the brain.

This was a very late and very chaotic recording.

Christmas is frying all our brains, everyone’s busy, half the crew vanished, and the rest of us sound drunk despite being completely sober. This is a short, unfiltered, spur-of-the-moment “we HAVE to get this done before Dynamite” — and it shows.

In this deeply unhinged Episode 75, we somehow manage to cover:

John Cena’s retirement and a full therapy session about his legacy

AEW’s Continental Classic, upcoming UK shows & British wrestling greatness

Mercedes, Red Velvet, Rio, and the state of the women’s divisions across the world

Gatekeeping AEW fans, Nick Khan’s delusion, and Tony Khan’s Jaguars curse

Why Mark is circling a car park with Camembert on his mind

Why you could get banned from a nightclub because of a Figure Four

And why none of us should be allowed microphones in December

Despite the madness, we love doing this — and after this week we’ll get things back on track with more BritWres coverage, more AEW chat, more guests, and hopefully more sleep.

Turns out holding in a wee while uploading is terrible for cognitive function. Who knew?

Brett, Andy, and Wrestling Mark are back for Episode 74 — right, tight, and (mostly) waffle-free.

We break down:

Continental Classic Round 2 — Darby dies again, Kevin Knight levels up, Fletcher shocks Okada, and we argue about Mox vs Claudio predictions.

Women’s Tag Tournament — Timeless Toni & Mina vs The Mega Problems, plus why Willow & Harley might be the team.

PAC vs Okada — TV match of the year incoming.

TNA’s massive AMC TV deal — what it means, what it doesn’t, and why Leon Slater should be the guy.

AEW storylines — Swerve/Hangman aren’t friends, Hook chat, Sammy chat, and football slowly destroying Andy live on air.

Plus a quick listener question on 2026 surprise champions.

This week we dive deep into AEW Full Gear, breaking down the matches, moments, and all the chaos from the show. Andy has a proper moan about some of the long-running booking inconsistencies in AEW — from Hangman’s reign to missed timing on pushes — and why he personally hasn’t felt the same buzz since All In.

We also get into the Continental Classic, how it’s shaping up, who we fancy to win the blocks, and why Claudio is somehow in every tournament ever booked.

And as always, we finish by answering your questions, rambling into tangents, and probably upsetting at least one fanbase along the way.

Grab a brew, stick it on in the gym, on a walk, in the car… and enjoy another week of wrestling talk with the Groupchat Wrestling Podcast.

In Episode 72 of the Group Chat Wrestling Podcast, BaldBro, Andy, and Wrestling Mark break down everything heading into AEW Full Gear — predictions, wild speculation, and the usual chaos. It’s the most unofficially official Full Gear preview you will find anywhere.

We dig into Blood & Guts, the state of women’s wrestling, and whether AEW might sneak in a women’s tag match on the card.

The lads talk Kyle O’Reilly’s breakout performance, the latest on the Don Callis Family, and how Mercedes Moné continues to shape the entire industry.

There’s also talk of TNA’s relationship with WWE, where the Young Bucks fit in AEW’s tag division right now, and a little fantasy booking around a possible Jay White return.

Expect hot takes, questionable predictions, and some very real praise for women’s wrestling finally getting the spotlight.

AJ Lee is back — and the hyperbole machine is already in overdrive. Just as John Cena’s “heel turn” was once dubbed the best in history, AJ’s return is now being hailed as the greatest comeback ever. Some fans even say it’s the third best return in her own house. Whatever the ranking, there’s no denying the shockwaves it’s sending through the wrestling world.

We break down what AJ’s return means for WWE, how it stacks up against CM Punk’s legendary comeback, and what it says about the power of nostalgia in wrestling. We also look at AEW’s ongoing perception issues — was the residency too long? — and why Eddie Kingston’s New York grit might be exactly what the company needs.

From MJF’s evolution to the women’s division taking two steps forward and one step back, to whether we’re in a preseason lull, to tag team dream matches and shocking title wins on TV — this episode dives deep into why wrestling thrives on hype, surprises, and the larger-than-life moments that keep fans talking long after the bell rings.

It’s a skeleton crew this week — Andy’s allegedly hiding out in the Canary Islands (probably dodging Konnan), so it’s just Dan, Brett, and Lucy steering this runaway train.

Karrion Kross and Scarlett’s contracts might be expiring… or it might be a work… or maybe it’s just a distraction while WWE sleepwalks through another PR nightmare. Either way, people online make it out to be the Da Vinci Code, and we’re here to poke holes in the hype.

From there, we’re jumping straight into the good stuff: AEW might be on its hottest run in years. Collision and Dynamite are firing on all cylinders, Forbidden Door is around the corner, and we could be seeing Nigel McGuinness in the O2. Plus, your Discord and Twitter questions take us from fantasy booking chaos to arguing about trios titles, women’s tag divisions, Mercedes Mone, and everything in between.

It’s opinionated, unfiltered, and sometimes a bit messy — exactly how wrestling podcasting should be.

We kick things off by addressing the elephant in the ring: Brock Lesnar’s return and WWE’s apparent apathy towards morality. We talk about the industry’s lack of accountability, the hypocrisy between how talent is treated, and the fan reaction to it all.

But we’re not here to be miserable all day — we flip the vibe halfway and celebrate AEW’s incredible week of wrestling. From Dustin’s career-resurrecting performance to chaos with MJF and the Outrunners, Collision and Dynamite might’ve just had their best week ever.

We also field your Discord questions, fantasy book open challenges, and dive into why the indies still matter more than ever.
