S3E13 Immortality

Saison 3 · Épisode 13

vendredi 27 septembre 2024Durée 02:44:29

We finally return to the Redverse for this episode and are joined once again by Mark (who previously joined us for our “Grey Matters” discussion)! In this (mostly) standalone episode of Fringe, the Fringe Division of Over There faces off against a mad scientist who is killing people with beetles, and this is, of course, also the legendary episode when Darrell lost the Banana Bet over the other Olivia’s pregnancy! Listen in to hear our thoughts on this episode, including but not limited to our thoughts on Walternate being made a bit more complex. We also get some great feedback from listeners like Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), Erin, ShelkyBean, and Patty from Canadia! For the next episode, in which we will be covering the episode “6B,” we will be joined by frequent feedbacker Anna (not Torv), so please feel free to reach out to us with your thoughts about that episode via one of the contact methods listed below!

S3E12 Concentrate and Ask Again

Saison 3 · Épisode 12

vendredi 13 septembre 2024Durée 02:46:12

Darrell and returning guest DillyDally (Chris unfortunately couldn’t make it for this episode - he said something about getting a strange doll in the mail and then disappeared?) discuss this myth-alone episode of Fringe which gives us a blend of a stand-alone case of the week as well as an introduction to a new Cortexiphan subject! Tune in to hear their thoughts on Simon, the blue powder, the drama and tension between Olivia and Peter, and Sam’s insights into how The Machine works. They also get some really great feedback from listeners like Geoff (xforce11), Patty from Canadia, Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), Anna (not Torv), Erin, and ShelkyBean! Join us next time when we cover “Immortality” with returning co-host Mark (who co-hosted our episode on “Grey Matters” with us)! We would love to hear your feedback about that episode, so feel free to reach out to us via one of the contact methods listed below!

S3E3 The Plateau

Saison 3 · Épisode 3

vendredi 10 mai 2024Durée 01:57:06

We return to the Redverse for this episode to witness quite the plateau, but fear not - this season isn’t about to plateau anytime soon! We are joined this week by our friend Erin to discuss Milo Stanfield and how his ability seems to be the precursor to what the Observers do. We also talk about Olivia and how her true self is beginning to breach through the Fauxlivia/Foelivia facade. You will also hear some great feedback from Damon, Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania, as you prefer), ShelkyBean, and Patty from Canadia! Next up, we will be covering the amazing episode “Do Shapeshifters Dream of Electric Sleep?” and will be joined by Sarah Clarke Stuart, author of the book Into the Looking Glass: Exploring the Worlds of Fringe! If you would like to share your thoughts about the next episode and be part of our feedback section, please feel free to contact us via one of the methods listed below! We would also love to have you join us as a co-host for a season 3 episode, so check out that link to see what’s still available!

S3E2 The Box

Saison 3 · Épisode 2

vendredi 26 avril 2024Durée 02:12:51

We are back to the Blueverse and are discussing “The Box” in this episode of the show, sharing our thoughts on the infuriating but fun dynamic between Peter and Foelivia/Fauxlivia/Bolivia/Altlivia, the great character development from Walter and the stark difference between him and Walternate, and so much more! We also share some wonderful feedback from listeners like you - Francleigh, Geoff (xforce11), Erin, Eric from Pennsylvania, ShelkyBean, and Rory! If you would like to share your thoughts about the next episode (“The Plateau”), please feel free to contact us via one of the methods listed below! S3E1 Olivia

Saison 3 · Épisode 1

vendredi 12 avril 2024Durée 02:23:47

After a bit of a break between seasons, we are back to tackle season 3, cortexifans! We are starting, of course, with the season 3 premiere, simply titled “Olivia,” which shows us the immediate aftermath of the shocking cliffhanger at the end of season 2. With Olivia trapped in the Redverse and her team not realizing it because Fauxlivia/Altlivia/Bolivia (take your pick) is undercover pretending to be her, she runs and hides from Walternate and Fringe Division, befriending a taxi driver named Henry along the way. Join us as we discuss everything that we love about this premiere, including but not limited to the phenomenal performance from Anna Torv and the complex, multilayered themes in the script. We also hear some great listener feedback from cortexifans like Geoff (xforce11), Rory, Eric from Pennsylvania, Patty from Canadia, and Erin! If you would like to share your thoughts about the next episode (“The Box”), please feel free to contact us via one of the methods listed below! We would also love to have you join us as a co-host for a season 3 episode, so check out that link to see what’s still available!

S2E21 Over There Part 2

Saison 2 · Épisode 22

vendredi 16 février 2024Durée 03:17:52

Joining us for this incredible season 2 finale from the fringe of America is Patty from Canadia, and we are so excited to be talking about this episode with her! We, of course (and by we, we mean Patty), tackle some of the science in this episode and whether or not it all makes sense. We also talk about our favorite moments from this finale and how amazing Anna is in it, and we talk about aspects of the third season that this finale potentially foreshadows. We get some amazing feedback as usual, this time from Geoff (xforce11), Eric, Michael London (creator of Fringe Connections), Damon, Erin, and ShelkyBean! We will be back in April for season 3 when we discuss the season 3 premiere (simply titled “Olivia”). If you have thoughts about the season 3 premiere, reach out to us via one of the contact methods listed below, and remember that you can now sign up to be a co-host for a season 3 episode! We would love to have you on the show to help us tackle an episode!

S2E21 Over There Part 1

Saison 2 · Épisode 21

vendredi 2 février 2024Durée 02:54:00

We are finally nearing the end of season 2! Join us as we, along with David Wu (the mastermind behind The Fringemunks), discuss the first half of “Over There,” the incredible season 2 finale! We discuss what we love so much about this epic finale and how it is truly a huge climax for the series overall, pivoting the series in a very new direction for seasons 3 and 4. We also hear from some of our Fringetastic listeners sharing their thoughts about this episode, listeners like Anna (not Torv), Rory, Prati, Eric, Geoff (xforce11), ShelkyBean, and Patty from Canadia! Speaking of Patty from Canadia, she will be joining us for our discussion of the second half of the finale, and if you would like to be a part of our feedback section, please reach out to us via one of the contact methods listed below! You can also now sign up to be a co-host for a season 3 episode, so go check that out if you’re interested!

S2E20 Northwest Passage

Saison 2 · Épisode 20

vendredi 19 janvier 2024Durée 02:59:00

Join us along with Rachel (whose voice you will likely agree is just awesome) as we discuss the penultimate episode of Fringe’s second season! Returning to the main Fringe canon, we find out where Peter went after disappearing at the end of “The Man from the Other Side” - none other than the literal northwest, Washington State! Here he meets Sheriff Ann Mathis (one of the show’s best episodic characters played wonderfully by The Goonies’ Martha Plimpton) as he helps her investigate a string of murders that feel uncomfortably close to Newton’s M.O. Meanwhile, Olivia and Astrid help Walter deal with the aftermath of Peter leaving. Rachel helps us untangle all of the references that this episode has to the classic show Twin Peaks, and we get wonderful feedback from new feedbacker Prati, Eric from Pennsylvania, Patty from Canadia, Rory, Erin, Geoff, and ShelkyBean! Join us next time as we discuss the first half of the incredibly epic season 2 finale, “Over There,” when we will be joined by the creator of The Fringemunks, David Wu! We would love to hear your thoughts about the first part, so feel free to reach out to us with your thoughts! You can also now sign up to be a co-host for a season 3 episode, so go check that out if you’re interested!

S2E19 Brown Betty

Saison 2 · Épisode 19

vendredi 5 janvier 2024Durée 02:32:26

Geoff (xforce11) joins us for this episode to discuss the first of four especially whacky Fringe episodes (of which we would get one each season from here on out). In this one, Walter, deeply troubled after the disappearance of Peter, tells Ella a story in which Olivia is a noir detective investigating the disappearance of Peter after he stole Walter’s mechanical heart, except, as Walter tells Ella more than once, things are not quite as they seem. We talk about our thoughts on the short musical numbers, the noir atmosphere, and the many anachronisms. We also hear from listeners like you, including Rachel, Eric from Pennsylvania, Erin, Rory, ShelkyBean, and Damon! Be sure to join us next time when we travel to Washington State to see what Peter is up to and meet one of the show’s best episodic characters, Martha Plimpton’s Sheriff Mathis! We will be joined by the aforementioned Rachel and would love to hear your thoughts on “Northwest Passage,” so please feel free to reach out to us!

S2E18 The Man From the Other Side

Saison 2 · Épisode 18

vendredi 22 décembre 2023Durée 02:18:24

The Man From the Other Side is (at least in correct people’s opinions) one of the best episodes of the entire series of Fringe! Something that we had been anticipating for such a long time - the culmination of the secret that Walter has been keeping for so long and it finally being exposed to Peter. In this climactic, pivotal episode (which really, in a lot of ways, leads fairly directly into the incredible two-part season finale in a few episodes), Peter finally inadvertently discovers that he is from the Redverse, and the scene that follows is one of the best acted, most emotional scenes of the entire series, with absolutely top-notch acting from both Josh Jackson and, of course, John Noble! Join us this week as we discuss this amazing episode with longtime member of the Golden Spiral Media community, Cory Metcalfe! We also get some fantastic feedback from listeners - including Geoff (xforce11), Eric from Pennsylvania, Rory, ShelkyBean, and Erin! Next up, we will be discussing “Brown Betty,” Fringe’s first of four whacky, out-of-the-box episodes, and the aforementioned Geoff will be on board with us for that! We would love to hear your thoughts about the episode, so please feel free to reach out to us! We would love to include you in the feedback section!
