How Green is my Tuk-Tuk? 06 Jul 202300:20:13

Rarely on this show, we come across a project that ticks all of the boxes. Emerging technology that is good for the planet and people. This is what today's guest, Seth from E-Tuk-Tuk, brings to the table.

Here in developed economies in, the global North, the adoption of EVs (electric vehicles) has been going on for the past decade or so. Even though some countries are adopting their fleet faster than others. In the developing world, it is a totally different story.

With E-Tuk-Tuk, this inspiring initiative shows how far EVs can really help the locals in countries such as Sri Lanka.

Can you walk 50 at 50?01 Aug 202300:20:21

On this podcast, we love to chat about the future. However, sometimes it is important to take time out and look after your health, otherwise, you will not live to see it.

In this special bonus episode, we catch up with Coach Colin Thompson, who is turning 50 this month, and has the goal of walking 50 miles (80 km) as a part of his movement.

I myself am committed to do more exercise as the weather here in Perth warms up.

MetaPerth: Can we create better urban environments?10 Aug 202300:38:26

Long-time listeners may have noticed that I am a geek for all things urban planning. Earlier this year, there was a debate about the concept of 15-minute cities and giving back cities to the people and the planet. And not car dependence.

Back in February, we invited our old friend of the show Keith Hutchings from the Comfortable Home Project and Jimmy from the Town Team project to discuss where the modern thinking in building communities here in Australia currently sits.

Can We Stop Cows Burping? Interview with Dr Tom Williams07 Sep 202300:25:04

We're back after a small hiatus.

This week we chatted with Dr Tom Williams from Number 8 Bio. On tackling one of the main causes of carbon emissions: methane from livestock. More importantly, we are discussing changing the diet of bovines from grass to seaweed, to stop them burping out greenhouse gases.

Of course with a hungry planet, having carbon-neutral meat is one piece of the puzzle.

How Are Online Grocery Deliveries Fighting The War on Waste? Part Two Interview with Rich Taurino from The Good and Fugly31 Mar 202100:21:31

🍌🍌🍌 We all love bananas! 🍌🍌🍌

But did you know? Our societal emphasis on perfectionism has created impractically high aesthetic standards for supermarkets. So much so that 25% of all fresh produce does not leave the farm gate and goes straight into landfill. Yes wanting that Cavendish with a perfect curve is killing the planet!

Today's guest Rich Taurino from Sydney has a solution with his startup The Good and Fugly. Rich goes around to the farmers in the greater Sydney area and buys up all of the rejected fruit and veg and boxes them up and sell them. Sure the tomatoes have a few blemishes, nevertheless, they are still as tasty in your salad.

To support this noble idea check out www.goodandfugly.com.au And be sure to give Rich our love and support.

How Green is Green Hydrogen? Interview with Cathy Clennett from Hiringa Energy29 Nov 202300:26:27

In this week's episode, we have Cathy Clennett from Hiringa Energy in the co-pilot seat talking about green hydrogen and the future of energy. If you don't know the difference between green, blue, and brown hydrogen? Here is a Dr. Seuss-style poem:

Let's talk about hydrogen, so pristine,

In green, blue, and brown, a colourful scene!

Green Hydrogen, the cleanest of all,

Made with renewable energy's call.

Sun and wind power they play their part.

To split water molecules and start.

Blue Hydrogen, it's not quite green,

But it's cleaner than brown, as you've seen.

With carbon capture, it strives to be

A lower-emission energy source, you see.

Brown Hydrogen, well, it's not so grand,

Made from fossil fuels, across the land.

Pollution and emissions, they're the trouble,

We should aim for cleaner, and there's no rebuttal.

So remember the colours of hydrogen, true?

Green, blue, and brown in the energy stew.

Let's work together to make a change.

To a greener future, we can arrange!
