Ep 235 Flourishing on Your Terms

Saison 20 · Épisode 235

jeudi 15 août 2024Durée 12:14

Summary

Fellow introverts and allies - and just like that we have arrived at the Season 20 Finale of our journey of self-discovery and empowerment together as Flourishing Introverts.

As we bring season to a close, I explore what it means for we introverts to truly flourish as individuals, and the fifty percent of humanity that we represent. Let us explore the challenge of being expected to conform to societal expectations so we have clarity around why it’s non-negotiable for us to flourish on our own terms.

The reality is flourishing isn't a one-size-fits-all concept; it never will be. It is a deeply personal and subjective journey for we introverts. I share some of my experiences and the lessons I have learned over the years as I come to celebrate my own introversion, unapologetically,

I call upon you to tread on your unique paths with joy and own your intent to flourish on your terms. It’s time to live authentically instead of merely ticking boxes set by someone else's standards.

Key Points

  • Celebrate our Individuality Over Conformity
  • Define our success on our terms
  • Be intentional in living authentic life, to flourish on our terms

Ep 234 Dancing with the Difficult

Saison 20 · Épisode 234

jeudi 8 août 2024Durée 15:56

Summary

We avoid the difficult, don't we?

It is not easy to invite, open up to and engage in difficult conversations and decision making.

I explore the challenges we face when handling the difficult. Drawing from personal experiences and client stories, I discuss how making decisions—whether they're about ending a relationship or changing careers—resembles a complex dance that requires both grace and strategy. It does require courage, clarity and patience.

I dive into the delicate balance between logical thinking and emotional feeling in decision-making. Our heart says something, but head has a completely different mind of its own, pun completely intended.

So, how do we do this? Let's explore!

Key Points:

  • Balance logic with empathy
  • Personal anecdotes illustrate strategies
  • Client case studies provide insights

Ep 135 Awakening Your Aspirations

mercredi 7 septembre 2022Durée 10:34

In an article in We Are the City, Viviane de Beaufort (a professor of European Law at ESSEC Business School and an expert in public policy and lobbying), explores the reasons why women were turning down professional leadership positions. The article showed that 80% of the women interviewed, feared the job title wouldn't reflect reality, and 36% cited imposter syndrome.

With Joanna's purposefully curious nature, this written piece became the catalyst for this episode as she pondered whether we, as Introverts, repress our aspirations due to fear or limiting beliefs.

Ep 134 Daring to try something new

mercredi 31 août 2022Durée 13:06

"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone" is a saying that's not quite true for many Introverts, including Joanna. As Introverts, we're naturally overstimulated mentally, so a space where we are safe, can be vulnerable, and recharge our batteries is what we need.

But as Joanna said in this episode, we shouldn't stay in our comfort zones for so long that we become stagnant and resistant to change. The key to navigating this journey is to broaden the range of our comfort zones by continuously challenging ourselves.

Listen in as Joanna shares her own experience of expanding her comfort zone by converting frequent flyer points into seats at the Eleven98 Chef's Table in London which turned out to be a most memorable evening.

KEYPOINTS:

  • Definition of Comfort Zone
  • Working at the outer edge of our comfort zones
  • Joanna dared to try something new
  • Having no expectations and going with the flow
