Rooted in History: The Story Behind Floristry's Newest Event
What happens when award-winning floral designers come together with a shared vision to create something completely new for the floristry industry?
In this episode of The Floristry Insider, host Carol Peacock sits down with Rachel Kennedy and Paula Routledge, half of the creative team behind Rooted in History, an exciting new floral design festival taking place at Hodsock Priory in Nottinghamshire.
Together, they share the story behind the event, from the initial idea and inspiration through to the realities of planning and delivering a large-scale floral experience. Discover why the team chose the historic surroundings of Hodsock Priory, how they have drawn inspiration from the building's rich history and architecture, and what visitors can expect from this immersive celebration of flowers, heritage and creativity.
Carol also delves into the vision behind the Floral Catwalk, which will showcase wearable floral art created by designers from across the industry including 2 of Carol's own designs, and discusses the importance of creating opportunities for florists to collaborate, experiment and push creative boundaries. The event will feature floral installations throughout the estate, a Floral Catwalk, demonstrations, workshops and a host of award-winning designers.
This conversation offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes insight into the creation of a brand-new floral festival and explores what the future could hold for experiential floral events in the UK.
At the time of recording, tickets were limited, and Rooted in History takes place from 23rd to 25th October 2026 at Hodsock Priory.
