143. Career Growth After Hard Times

Épisode 144

mercredi 11 février 2026Durée 01:01:29

This episode is a replay of a powerful livestream focused on growing your career after hard times. I emphasize the importance of feeling your feelings, giving yourself credit for everything you’ve accomplished, and choosing one area of your career where you can take small but concrete steps towards your goals. I share my personal experiences with mental health challenges, burnout, and the significance of advocating for yourself at work. Lastly, I answer audience questions about interviewing, salary negotiation, and navigating shame in your career journey.

142. How to Get More Job Interviews

Épisode 143

mercredi 28 janvier 2026Durée 27:05

This episode will completely transform the way you apply to jobs. Yes, I go over what to include in your resume. But your resume alone is NOT what’s gonna drive more job interviews. It’s about being strategic to what type of jobs you’re applying for, where you’re finding them, and how to ensure a human looks at your application. These are the steps my clients have used to get job offers and over $600,000 in salary increases.

If you’re tired of endlessly scrolling LinkedIn and drawing a blank at where high-paying jobs are posted, this episode is for you.

133. Why You Still Need LinkedIn & 3 Steps to Get Started

Épisode 134

lundi 6 octobre 2025Durée 25:16

LinkedIn gets a lot of hate, and much of it is well deserved. But it is still an excellent tool to level up your career. In this episode, I break down why LinkedIn is still an extremely powerful tool for first-gen professionals (yes, even in 2025), and how to actually make it work for you. I share why the platform is more than just a job site, and how you can use it to get noticed by recruiters, potential clients, and more. I also talk about what it really means to show up authentically online, especially when so much of the job market feels grim and discouraging.

If you’ve been avoiding LinkedIn or feel unsure where to start, this episode is for you!

45. See Yourself in Tech with Latinas in Tech Canada Co-Founder Pegleess Barrios

Épisode 44

jeudi 18 mai 2023Durée 53:30

Today’s guest is Pegleess Barrios, a first gen Latina in Tech based in Ottawa. Pegleess has done some very cool things in her career! She founded the Latine Employee Resource Group (ERG) at Shopify while being in a junior role within the company, she is the co-founder of Latinas in Tech Canada chapter, and she built meaningful relationships that led to advancing in her career. But it wasn’t an easy path. We talked about crying in the bathroom, dealing with being rejected from 13 internal jobs, and how she found strength to keep going.

We also talked about Pegleess’ involvement with Latinas in Tech Canada and the importance of community. Lastly, we talked about how first gens with no tech experience can transition to the tech industry, and whether it’s even still a good time to make this transition, given all the layoffs of the past year.

PLUS: Pegleess shared a really cool way to evaluate a company before we apply to see if it’s worth the risk.

About today's guest:

Pegleess is a Program Manager on Pinterest's Inclusion & Diversity team, and a first-gen Latina in tech! She has dedicated her career to helping people build careers they love, and has explored this as a recruiter, facilitator, Talent Management partner, and community leader. Pegleess is a connector at heart and thrives helping people connect to opportunities, and each other. Her personal mission is to ensure Latine people are not only represented in Tech, but included, valued, and thriving. Ask her about: working in HR, Pinterest, or her radio show - Radio Latinx!

44. Roadmap to Job Hopping your Way to Six Figures

Épisode 43

vendredi 5 mai 2023Durée 40:25

When WOC make more money, they help their communities. It's as simple as that. The cishet white capitalist patriarchy has lied to you and made you believe that the only way to help your community is to be self-sacrificial and work a low-paying job. That's is straight up BS! Releasing that BS, aka unlearning the lies society has taught you, is the first step in job hopping your way to a six figure salary. In this episode, I share the full roadmap to job hopping your way to a six figure salary, and why it is a moral imperative for you to be making more money.

41. Become a Latina Millionaire by Doing the Bare Minimum

Épisode 40

jeudi 13 avril 2023Durée 36:19

What if you could "bare minimum" your way to millionaire status? When today's guest, Cat Oliva, shared that, I knew I had to dig deeper. In this episode, financial wellness coach Cat Oliva shares the investment steps we can all take to become millionaires, without scrimping and saving every single penny or making decisions that are not aligned with your values. We also talked about the power of coaching and mindset work, and when I revealed the biggest financial mistake I've made, Cat kindly helped me see how some of my unexamined money beliefs were behind that decision.

About today's guest:

Cat Oliva is a financial wellness coach, mother, and the creator of @LatinaMillionairesClub. She started her coaching business to empower women, especially Latinas, to feel that we deserve to be wealthy AF, and to guide them out of the scarcity mindset into abundance. She makes it her mission to help women of color to not only become millionaires, but to start living the life they have always wanted right now. When she’s not avidly supporting women and Latinas to break barriers she spends as much time as possible with her husband and two little girls.
