33 - Fly: Facing Fears, Finding Freedom, and the power of positive change19 Nov 202500:31:21

In this episode of The F Word, hypnotherapist and wellbeing creator Adam Pearson returns to the podcast for even more calming yet empowering chatting about the changes you can make to get the most out of your life.

What started 15 years ago as Adam overcoming his own confidence challenges quickly led to helping someone else conquer their Fear of Flying. That breakthrough moment didn’t just get a client onto a plane, it sparked a much bigger question for her: “What else have I not been doing in my life that I actually could do?”

Today, Adam works with individuals and groups to help people relax, reframe, and rise beyond phobias and anxieties that hold them back, and in this conversation we explore what it really means to Fly, both literally and metaphorically.

We Focus on:
 • The hidden cost of phobias and why so many people never seek treatment
 • Why phobias are reversible, and how overcoming one Fear can unlock wider growth
 • Adam’s I RISE Framework: simple, powerful steps to calm the nervous system and expand your potential
 • The science of positivity, pro-noia, and why reframing your story really matters
 • How small shifts in language and Focus can ripple into better health, business, and relationships
 • Adam’s mission to make effective tools for overcoming Fear accessible to thousands more people

Whether it’s Fear of Flying, public speaking, or the quiet anxieties that hold you back day-to-day, this episode is a reminder that problems don’t need to be permanent or complicated.

"They don’t need to be that way. Problems can seem complex, but solutions don’t need to be."

24 - Fun: turning your passion into your business17 Jan 202500:33:33

In this episode of The F Word, we delve into how any passion, even ones that could be seen as a little ‘weird’, can be transformed into a thriving business, with our inspiring guest Cassie Kemp, owner of Cornwall Caricatures and host of the Work it Weirdo podcast.

Cassie’s talent for drawing emerged at a young age. From a toddler, to now, and nearly a decade into her career, she is just as passionate about her business as she was when she first started.

Growing up being both academic and creative, Cassie shares her journey, from being the only member of her family to attend university to heading down the road of a corporate job, which at the time felt like the only path that was an option for her… and how that all changed.

Along the way, her work has allowed her to connect with so many fascinating people, listening to their unique stories and life journeys. Inspired by these conversations, Cassie realised they deserved a larger audience, sparking the idea for her podcast, ‘Work It Weirdo’ where she continues to share these incredible stories with the world. (Definitely one to listen to next!)

Speaking of… it’s time to listen.

22 - Founder, Failure, Future: leading with resilience and cultivating Fearlessness13 Dec 202400:29:22

In this episode, we got to dig into Cornwall with John Brown, CEO of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, and founder of Build The Fearless.

John is a contagiously passionate advocate for Cornish business. In John’s words, we want and need to do more shouting about Cornwall… and do it draped in a St Piran’s flag!

John shares his journey, from his early days with a short stint in journalism, to diving into the world of PR and Comms in agency, working internationally, and then Founding Don’t Cry Wolf, a B Corp agency, doing all the right things in people and practice, rewriting the rules and pushing boundaries. And then, the hard realities of business closure and the topic of ‘Failure’.

We discuss John’s work at the Cornwall Chamber, where he’s unapologetically Focused on making Cornwall a powerhouse of industry, sustainability, and social innovation. From championing the talent and determination of Cornish businesses, to addressing issues like housing and healthcare, John unpacks why Cornwall is an investable, thriving hub of opportunity. “If you’re not looking at Cornwall, you’re losing out”.

“You are going to get a return on investment because of the innovation, the talent, and the stubbornness of the Cornish people. It’s an investable proposition.”

There is so much more to share from this episode, but we’ll leave it to the man himself.

We absolutely loved chatting with John, and we know you’ll love listening.

32 - Finality: Future-proofing your legacy and the power of planning ahead12 Nov 202500:38:20

In this heartfelt and thought-provoking episode of The F Word, Laura is joined by long-time Friend and business inspiration, Trevor Worth – Founder and CEO of Portcullis Legals – to talk about Finality, what it means to truly prepare for the Future, and why the way we leave things behind can say just as much as how we lived.

Trevor shares the story of launching Portcullis back in 1988, long before approachable legal services were the norm. From driving “Wills on Wheels” to homes across the region, to introducing the UK’s first permanent 4-day work week (which went viral worldwide!), Trevor has always believed in doing things differently, For the right reasons.

Listen for:

  • Why Finality isn’t just about endings, but about clarity, kindness, and intention
  • How planning for the Future can ease the emotional toll on your loved ones
  • The unseen risks of DIY wills and why legal planning is too important to just wing it
  • The legacy of leadership, from community impact to supporting your team
  • How personal service is becoming the greatest USP in a digital world
  • What the 4-day week really means for teams, clients, and company culture

With powerful stories, practical insights, and some wise (and witty!) analogies, this conversation reminds us that thinking about the end isn’t morbid, it’s one of the most generous and thoughtful things we can do.

"If it’s not in black and white, it’s not done. It’s like booking a holiday – if you don’t put it in your diary, it’s not going to happen."

Sit tight for this one… if you can. Today’s episode is all about Focus. Specifically, trying to navigate this with ADHD.

October is ADHD awareness month, so what better time to sit down with an amazing business owner (or two!) to discuss what it’s like running a business with neurodivergence?

Spoiler: it makes it really hard. BUT, it can also be a ‘super power’. You’re 300 times more likely to start your own business if you have ADHD, so that absolutely says something.

In this episode, we get to chat to Tanya Blackman, of Kartha, as she discusses her business, how she tackles the day-to-day, and how she discovered she has ADHD.

This is a special episode for sure.

Welcome to episode 12 of The F Word, where we’re joined by Richard Woods of Rewind Radio to discuss all things broadcasting in Cornwall.

5 - Friends: why your brand is Far more than just a logo, it’s the bones of your business.26 Jul 202400:35:46

Join Kelly Thomas, of Friends, as she shares her honest outlook on brand. What is it and how important it is for your business? SPOILER ALERT… very!

Laura and Kelly have known each other since almost day one of Whyfield. When they met at a business show, Kelly took one look at the Whyfield brand and almost gasped in horror. Kelly isn’t afraid have honest conversations with her clients and Friends about how they can elevate what they’re already offering and develop the work they’ve already put in. You don’t have to completely rebrand to stand out, but you should make time to look at who you are, why you do what you do, and question whether this is something that you’re communicating through your branding. If not, Kelly could be your girl!

We absolutely loved chatting to Kelly! This is an extra-long episode of magic, so grab yourself a drink (and a notepad) and get stuck in.

25- Football: bringing Truro’s Football team home24 Jan 202500:18:52

In this episode of The F Word, we talk all things Football with Rob Butland from Truro City Football Club, from Cornwall’s highest-ranking team not having a ground to play on in the county, to moving home to their very own stadium, with an average of 1500 spectators each match.

We hear not only about Rob’s journey into the role he plays at the Football club but also the incredible journey that the team themselves have had, discussing both the highs and lows and how they plan to continue to improve.

We dive into how Cornwall can have the mindset of ‘if you want to make it, you have to leave’, and although this is a great option for someone, we need to be able to provide that in Cornwall, allowing kids to grow up, stay in Cornwall, and achieve their goals in whatever sport they want and how the club want to make sure they are setting the bar and show that it is possible.

The club prides itself on using local businesses and it's great when businesses get involved, whether through sponsorship or partnership or simply enjoying a day out watching a match with the family.
