The summer is coming to an end, and in true Movie Power Hour fashion, Electro and Banno are here to talk about some of the summer hits! F1: The movie was directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame and stars Brad Pitt himself. Jurassic World: Rebirth was directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Scarlett Johansson. One of the guys compares these movies to fast food. Can you guess who it was? Do you agree? Listen and find out!

In the latest episode of The Movie Power Hour, Electro and Banno are trying to crack Death's design as they cover the Final Destination franchise. In celebration of the new entry, Final Destination: Bloodlines, they take a stroll down memory lane, mainly discussing the first four movies. Listen and find out!

2024 is dead and gone, but we're still celebrating some of its films at the MPH. Strange Darling was directed by J.T. Mollner. Starring Willa Fitzgerald and the scream king himself, Kyle Gallner, the film is a classic tale of a one-night stand turning into a crazed killing spree. Don't you hate it when that happens? If you want time travel, deadly robots, and a naked Arnold Schwarzenegger, there is only one movie to go to, and that is The Terminator. The 1984 sci-fi film directed by James Cameron is the topic of this episode, and we go deep into this classic film. Electro also wonders why people like Cameron. 

Ethan Hawke films are going to be a frequent point of discussion on this podcast and this episode we dig deep into the Antoine Fuqua directed " Training Day". Our boy Hawke gets paired with Denzel Washington who earned his second Oscar for his portrayal of corrupt cop Alonzo Harris.

A lot of directors have used the Joker in their movies and now it is Todd Phillips turn. It was such a special movie to us that we brought on our old friend James to help us break down this dark and entertaining film. We recorded this several hours after we all went to watch the film together so it is a fresh and raw conversation about a movie we all loved. 

Andy Muschietti is back to direct the sequel to his 2017 hit about Pennywise the Clown. Did Chapter 2 meet the high expectations set by the first film or should it be thrown in the sewers never to be seen again? The debate between Electro and Banno may surprise you.

Our second ever Hawke Talke has Electro and Banno talking about First Reformed. This 2017 film features Ethan Hawke playing a pastor that has his life turned upside-down when a pregnant Amanda Seyfried shows up at his church. His boss is Cedric the Entertainer, which further complicates matters for him as he deals with an existential crisis. It was written and directed by Paul Schrader, who wrote other great movies like Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.

The Toy Story movies had an impact on both Electro and Banno, so they decided to dedicate a whole episode to these remarkable films. They go through the full series from the groundbreaking first movie that introduced us to Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang to the fourth installment that came out earlier this year. Were Disney and Pixar able to keep the magic going with number 4? Listen and find out!

What happens when you take a group of pre-teens and put them in adult situations? This generations version of "Superbad" apparently and Electro and Banno are here to tell you all about it. This episode Electro and Banno dissect Quentin Tarantino's 9th movie, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. They talk about where this movie ranks compared to Tarantino's other work and question who was the bigger star, Leonardo DiCaprio or Brad Pitt. Listen as they try to recall their favorite parts of a film that was over two and a half hours long as producer Oz sprinkles in random Manson Family facts throughout the episode. 

This week Electro and Banno break down (and spoil) Ari Aster's new horror flick Midsommar. Electro compares it to his previous work "Hereditary" which has similar elements but at the same time is a unique film that can be enjoyed on its own. The one question they can't answer is if this movie should be watched sober or under the influence of certain substances. Try both on your own and let us know which experience is better!

The Chick Flick Extravaganza returns with Vol. 2! Lil' Lil is back in the studio with Electro, and they are talking about some of their favorite chick flicks. Electro talks about the great film Pretty Woman could have been, and they discuss whether Julia Roberts is a good actress. They also tackle other classics like Ghost, Sleepless in Seattle, and not-so-classics like Legends of the Fall and A Walk in the Clouds. Listen now!

This episode Electro, Banno and producer Oz, celebrate America and all the movies about our country's birth. There are a surprisingly small amount of movies with the Fourth of July as the main plot point except of course for the Jeff Goldblum led Independence Day. We talk about that movie of course then we discuss some of our favorites to watch around that time — films like The Sandlot, The Patriot, and Jaws.

Electro and Banno are back and this episode they are spoiling another superhero movie! For over 30 years this great American has been mesmerizing us with his work, so it only fits that we dedicate a full episode to the legend. We may have to do other Hawke Talke's in the future, but in this episode, the guys talk about some of their favorite roles he has played including the fantastic work he did with director Richard Linklater in the "Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight" trilogy. Electro and Banno are back for another week of movie spoilers. This week they take on the newest superhero movie Captain Marvel. The episode begins with a conversation about the new documentary "Leaving Neverland" which also contains spoilers, but if you're not familiar with the Michael Jackson situation, please go outside. The Captain Marvel conversation is filled with spoilers but listening to Electro, it seems like the whole movie is a spoiler.

In this episode, Electro and Banno discuss the classic archaeological movie "The Mummy" and its real star Arnold Vosloo better known as Imhotep. This movie is so influential to the guys that it is the reason this podcast exists and a movie the regularly watch to this day. From love affairs, the book of the dead, Brendan Fraser, to ancient make-out sessions, this movie has it all, and the guys go through it scene by scene. 

In this episode oh the Movie Power Hour, Electro and Banno discuss one of Hollywoods most famous directors, M Night Shyamalan. Specifically his last two films "Split" and "Glass." Electro talks about his excitement, both mentally and physically, when he saw the ending to "Split" in 2016 which hinted at a sequel to "Unbreakable." That sequel was finally released this year as "Glass" and it left Electro feeling a little unsatisfied. The trilogy did leave Electro with many questions. Mostly of the "Am I into older phycologists" and " Why do James McAvoy's abs do that to my pants" kind. 

Every other movie podcast is probably getting ready to do its 2024 end-of-the-year list, but we like to do things differently here at The Movie Power Hour. In our second episode tackling 2023, the guys and Lil' Lil cover such films as Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Sound of Freedom, Barbie, Cobweb, Strays, Gran Turismo, Saw X, Dream Scenario, and many more! In this first episode of the Electro and Banno Movie Power Hour Podcast, the guys get into a deep and intimate conversation about the enigma that is Keanu Reeves. Although he has had many memorable roles, Electro cannot seem to find his charm especially after watching his latest film "Replicas." Electro does give him credit for his hilariously bad performance in "A Walk in the Clouds," but that is about it. 

Halloween may have come and gone, but the devilish fun continues at The Movie Power Hour. In this episode, the boys talk about Arkasha Stevenson's new film, The First Omen. It is a prequel to the 1976 horror classic directed by Richard Donner. They also talk about the final film in Ti West's horror trilogy, Maxxine, once again starring Mia Goth. Well, we have finally reached the part of our journey where the boys discuss the Dune movies. It wasn't easy to get Banno to watch these, but he finally took a sip of that water of life! Denis Villeneuve directed the films, and the boys delve into his filmography, sharing their favorites. And of course, they discuss the Oscar nominations and snubs from both films.

One episode on Christopher Nolan's new film Oppenheimer, just wasn't gonna cut it for the Movie Power Hour. In part one of two, the boys talk about Nolan's filmography, as well as discuss where Nolan stands amongst the great directors. You wanna hear about Nolan and have a laugh? You've come to the right place.

The journey continues! In this episode, the boys discuss "A Real Pain,"  directed by Jesse Eisenberg. The movie features Kieran Culkin and Eisenberg as cousins who embark on a journey to Poland to honor their grandmother. Banno's favorite director, M. Night Shyamalan, has returned; this time, he brought Drax. Starring Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, and Ben Aldridge, Knock at the Cabin is about a family that must make an unthinkable choice. That choice is still better than having to watch his precious movie Old again. Listen and find out what we think of M. Night's latest.

The Cronenberg apple doesn't fall far from the Cronenberg tree. Infinity Pool is a twisted movie that would surely make director Brandon Cronenberg's father proud. Starring Alexander Skarsgard and Mia Goth, at least there are hot people to look at in this disturbing and twisted tale. Give this powerful hour of a movie a spin!

The guys go through their list of the movies they watched in 2022, from Scream to Puss in Boots, and rank them all in search of 2022's very best.
