Getting the Most Out of Your First Visit with a Fertility Doctor22 oct. 202600:16:28

Regardless of who you see for fertility care, you deserve the best—personalized treatment. I realize that not everyone can come to see me, and I won't be around forever.

This information is a valuable resource as you begin your fertility journey, whoever it is with and whenever it takes place.

The inspiration behind this topic? Well—it started with some snooping. Several times each day, I hear my receptionist answer the phone and new patients on the other end asking what they can expect at a new patient consult. The mystery is about to be revealed!

Infertility and Your Relationship: How Couples Can Stay Connected Through the Fertility Journey with Dr. Clay Brigance21 oct. 202600:36:08

Ever wonder why some couples grow closer through infertility while others grow apart? In this episode, I'm diving into one of the most important (and least talked about) sides of the fertility journey: the impact of infertility on relationships, and what you can do to stay connected as a couple if you're both hurting or stressed by the journey.

My guest is Dr. Clay Brigance, a licensed counselor, author, podcaster, and relationship researcher who studies the mental health and relationship impacts of infertility and reproductive loss. After experiencing infertility himself - including male factor, IUI, IVF, pregnancy complications, and a life-threatening postpartum hemorrhage and emergency hysterectomy - Clay set out to answer one question: why do some couples come together through infertility while others fall apart? His research with over 1,000 couples led to his Four Pillars of Connection, a framework that helps couples navigate emotional attunement, conflict, disrupted dreams of parenthood, and intimacy.

In this episode, we cover:

  • Why some couples grow closer through infertility while others grow apart (and what the research shows)
  • The "holding wet soap" metaphor: why trying to rescue your partner from pain can backfire
  • The Four Pillars of Connection: mindful attunement, navigating conflict, disrupted visions of parenthood, and maintaining intimacy
  • What to do when one partner wants to talk about everything and the other shuts down
  • Male factor infertility: the shame, identity crisis, and silent shattering men experience
  • How infertility impacts your sex life and practical ways to keep intimacy alive (including the six-second kiss!)
  • First steps for couples in the middle of IVF who feel like they're falling apart

Your Egg Thawing Party: What Happens When it's Time for the Big Unfreeze?20 oct. 202600:10:56

Egg freezing is IVF without the F (fertilization). You go through a standard cycle of In Vitro Fertilization in which you take hormone shots that stimulate the growth of eggs. A doctor like me then extracts your eggs through a simple surgical procedure, and I work with an embryologist to preserve your eggs in liquid nitrogen until you're ready to use them.

So the big question is what happens now that you're ready to use your eggs? In other words, what are the steps towards fertilization (or as I like to say, what the F?)

Step 1. Locate Your Eggs
Step 2: Decide if you want to unfreeze all your eggs.
Step 3. Complete Your Preconception Testing (follow the TUSHY Method)
Step 4: Complete Your Infectious Disease Labs
Step 5: Implantation Testing
Step 6: Make Embryos (and decide if you want to do genetic testing on your embryos)
Step 7: Decide Whether You Want to Transfer Fresh or Frozen Embryos

Egg Freezing Party with Dr. Aimee19 oct. 202600:08:49
Egg Freezing parties are safe and surgery-free gatherings of women (and sometimes men) to learn more about the process of freezing your eggs (or sperm). Beyond that, we talk in general about fertility and how every woman (and man) can take a proactive role in preserving their fertility options.

There is humor. There is honest talk. Most importantly, you will learn about clear steps you can take after the party is over. This is not merely an information session, this is meant to inspire action!

Endometriosis and Fertility: When Surgery Helps and When It Doesn't with guest Dr. Sadikah Behbehani14 oct. 202600:29:58

Does endometriosis surgery actually improve your fertility, or could it make things worse? In this episode, I am joined by with Dr. Sadikah Behbehani, a surgeon who is double fellowship-trained in both reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. She specializes in complex endometriosis excision, pelvic pain, and fertility-sparing surgery - and she's one of the few doctors in the country who can both operate on deep infiltrating endometriosis and guide your IVF journey. We dig into when excision surgery helps fertility, when it doesn't, and why so many patients are told the wrong thing about their options.

Get the full show notes at Dr. Aimee's website.

In this episode, we cover:

  • Why Dr. Behbahani pursued dual training in fertility and surgery and the gap she saw between REIs and surgeons
  • The 10-year average delay in diagnosing endometriosis and the questions every fertility patient should be asked
  • The statistic that 50% of women walking into fertility clinics have endometriosis
  • How endometriosis can be diagnosed on ultrasound (not just surgery) and what "endometriosis mapping" means
  • The difference between excision and fulguration/ablation and why burning lesions isn't real treatment
  • How to decide between surgery first, IVF first, or egg freezing before surgery, based on AMH and egg quality
  • Why Dr. Behbahani says you should never transfer embryos into a uterus with untreated endometriosis

This is Fertility Mythbusting13 oct. 202600:17:14

I do this with my patients all the time.

There's a lot of truth-telling that goes on in my office, and often myth-busting is necessary to get to the truth.

Perhaps you can relate — there are so many headlines and hearsay stories about fertility. Do you struggle to disseminate between what is evidence-based and what is not?

I don't care where you live or who your doctor is. My goal is to share what I know in the event that it's even the tiniest bit helpful to you and your fertility journey.

ReceptivaDX Test and How it Can Help You with guest Dr. Bruce Lessey12 oct. 202600:21:53

I'm so excited to have Dr. Bruce Lessey of ReceptivaDX join me on the podcast. Dr. Lessey has dedicated his research life to studying the lining of the uterus and more specifically, how to help embryos stick better. His research led to the discovery of the role of BCL-6 in the lining of the uterus as a diagnostic test patients can have done by their doctors to guide them toward the best protocol for transfer success. The test isn't for women just going through IVF either. This test can also be done to help women get an endometriosis diagnosis without going through a laparoscopy surgery.
⠀ ⠀
In addition to being a Fertility Doctor at The Fertility Center of the Carolinas, in Greenville SC, Dr. Lessey is also the scientific advisor for Cicero DX. His work on identifying BLC6 became the key component of the Receptivadx test.
⠀ ⠀
I'm delighted to have him on the show! Many IVF patients have benefited greatly from the Receptivadx test, and I'm looking forward to asking him a lot of questions about his work.

Egg Freezing: Fertility, Freedom, and Facts on "The Gynarchy Podcast" with guest Dr. Aimee08 oct. 202600:47:12
I'm excited to share this episode, where I joined Dr. Kirti Patel to talk all about egg freezing on The Gynarchy Podcast. We discuss why egg freezing matters, how it works, and what every woman should know about her fertility options. As a fertility specialist with deep roots in women's health (and a family legacy in OB/GYN), I'm passionate about empowering women with the knowledge and choices they deserve. In this conversation, I share my personal journey, the inspiration behind my work, and why I believe education is the key to reproductive autonomy.

During our interview, Dr. Patel and I dive into the evolving landscape of egg freezing, the cultural and societal factors influencing women's choices, and the realities (both medical and emotional) of fertility preservation. We discuss the science, the misconceptions, and the importance of making informed decisions, whether you're considering egg freezing for yourself or just want to better understand your reproductive health. My goal is to demystify the process and help women feel confident, not fearful, about their options.

In this episode, we cover:
  • My personal and professional journey into fertility medicine, including generational influences and early experiences in my father's practice
  • The origins and evolution of "egg freezing parties" and how they've become a platform for education and empowerment
  • The step-by-step process of egg freezing, including preparation, testing, and what to expect physically and emotionally
  • Common side effects, risks, and the psychological impact of fertility treatments
  • The role of genetics, age, and lifestyle in fertility planning, and how to personalize your approach
  • Debunking myths: egg freezing as an "insurance policy," who should consider it, and the realities of success rates
  • The intersection of workplace benefits, societal pressures, and reproductive rights in the context of fertility care

Your Frozen Eggs, Embryos and Sperm: What Happens Next? with Charlie Boyer07 oct. 202600:25:20

Have you ever wondered what actually happens to your frozen eggs, embryos, and sperm after they leave the fertility clinic? In this episode I'm uncovering the hidden world of cryostorage: from how your reproductive tissues are kept safe for years, to why storage prices vary so wildly, to how private equity has quietly taken over parts of the fertility industry and what that means for patients. If you have anything frozen or are planning to, this conversation will change how you think about where your samples live.

My guest is Charlie Boyer, co-founder and CEO of Generations Cryovault, an independent cryostorage company. Charlie brings years of experience in cryogenic storage — starting in cord blood banking before pivoting to fertility storage with a mission to bring transparency, fair pricing, and rigorous safety standards to an industry he saw as the "Wild West."

In this episode, we cover:

  • How frozen eggs, embryos, and sperm are cared for over years of storage and what "boring" looks like for your tissues
  • The safeguards in place to prevent tank failures, meltdowns, and chain-of-custody errors including real-time monitoring, human inspection, and ISO 9001 certification
  • How natural disasters, earthquakes, and floods factor into choosing a storage facility location
  • Safe transportation of reproductive tissues between clinics and storage facilities, including insurance coverage during transport
  • What actually goes into the price of annual cryostorage and why costs range from $195 to over $1,400 per year
  • How private equity has entered the fertility storage industry and its impact on pricing and patient care
  • The different storage models clinics offer: private label, directed storage, and independent choice and why transparency and patient rights matter when signing contracts

If you know me, you know that I hate the word infertility. I believe that everyone who walks through my doors is fertile and no matter what we learn, can be a parent.

Fertility is often taken for granted. It's precious. It declines over time, and there are some well studied factors, nine that I highlight here, that put it at risk. They are:

  1. Your DNA
  2. Unhealthy BMI
  3. Abnormal Sleep Patterns
  4. Fibroids
  5. Endometriosis
  6. Blocked Fallopian Tubes
  7. Abnormal Semen Parameters
  8. Autoimmune Diseases
  9. Reproductive Toxins

Want to hear more about each of them? Tune in to today's podcast episode.

Top 5 IVF Setbacks and How to Reframe Them to Stay Hopeful05 oct. 202600:07:52
In this episode of The Egg Whisperer Show, I'm diving into one of the most important parts of the IVF journey: how to cope with setbacks. IVF can be frustrating, emotional, and downright hard. But it can also be empowering, educational, and full of possibility. I'm walking you through the five most common IVF challenges, and offering tools to help you reframe them so you can move forward feeling hopeful and in control.

We'll talk about what happens when your cycle gets delayed, when your follicles don't grow as expected, and what to do when the numbers (eggs, embryos, blastocysts) don't go your way. I'll also share real patient stories and offer perspective on how to stay grounded and supported through every twist in the journey.

In this episode, we cover:
  • Why IVF cycles sometimes start with delays, and how to use that time productively
  • What to do if your follicles don't grow or respond to medication as expected
  • How to cope with fewer eggs retrieved or fertilized than hoped
  • What to know if embryo development or testing results don't go as planned
  • How to support your mental health and build a strong emotional foundation

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Fertility hosted by Dr. Lorne Brown of The Conscious Fertility Podcast02 oct. 202600:30:51

I'm thrilled to have joined Dr. Lorne Brown on the Conscious Fertility Podcast to dive deep into the world of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy and its potential for women on their fertility journey. As the Egg Whisperer, I shared my passion for patient-centered reproductive care, my TUSHY method for fertility diagnostics, and the importance of leaving no stone unturned when supporting those who want to grow their families. Lorne and I discussed the latest in integrative and holistic approaches, and I had the chance to explain how PRP is being used in my practice to help women who want to try every possible avenue before considering donor eggs.

In our conversation, we explored the evolving landscape of fertility treatments, the science and stories behind PRP, and the importance of individualized care. We talked about the challenges of evidence-based medicine in emerging therapies, the nuances of testing and tracking results, and how integrative approaches (combining Western medicine, functional testing, acupuncture, laser therapy, and more) can make a difference. I also shared my experiences, data, and the real-life outcomes I've seen with PRP, as well as my commitment to educating and empowering patients.

In this episode, we cover:

  • What PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy is and how it's being used for ovarian rejuvenation
  • The TUSHY method for comprehensive fertility diagnostics
  • The importance of individualized, integrative, and holistic fertility care
  • How PRP is performed, who may benefit, and what results I've seen in my practice
  • The current state of research and data on PRP for fertility
  • How to set realistic expectations for PRP and other emerging treatments
  • The role of additional therapies like low-level laser therapy, acupuncture, and functional medicine in fertility journeys

She works with clients to figure out the root cause of their PMOS symptoms, and creates personalized plans for clients that go way beyond their diet to get them feeling better.

In this interview, Melissa walks us through some diet options that help balance blood sugar and hormones, which can help with PMOS symptoms.
She uses the acronym PFF (protein, fat, and fiber), and I can't wait for you to hear her explain it!

We're going to be talking about the role a stressful lifestyle may play in infertility and PMOS, how diet impacts PMOS, and how you can make simple changes to improve your health and fertility outcomes.

The 2WW: When Does Implantation Occur?25 sept. 202600:08:42

Discover all the answers to some of the most common questions you may have about your menstrual cycle, hormones in your menstrual cycle, ovulation, implantation, and the 2ww (two week wait).

If you are trying to get pregnant, you may have heard the term—two week wait, the often nervous time of waiting between ovulation and taking a pregnancy test. For many, this is a dreaded time because it's hard to know exactly what is happening. But by learning more about your cycle, you can have more knowledge about what might happen.

The implantation window is during the two week wait. Since progesterone is the hormone responsible for supporting implantation, it must be present during the entire implantation window. You can track your progesterone during this window by tracking PdG, progesterone in urine.

Proov has unique testing capabilities to test PdG during the implantation window to confirm successful ovulation.

Studies show PdG levels are incredibly important for implantation and pregnancy success, for example, women with high PdG during the implantation window were 75% more likely to get pregnant. In contrast, women with low PdG had a miscarriage rate of 90%.

Read the full show notes on Dr. Aimee's website.

You can find more about tracking your implantation window and PdG at Proov (and get 20% off): https://proovtest.com/discount/AIMEE20

Trying to Conceive? What Parents-to-Be Need to Know About Parkinson's and Environmental Toxins with Dr. Ray Dorsey of The Parkinson's Plan24 sept. 202600:39:34

In this episode, I'm honored to welcome Dr. Ray Dorsey, a renowned neurologist, researcher, and author of the New York Times bestseller, The Parkinson's Plan. Together, we dive into the critical topic of Parkinson's Disease, now the fastest growing neurological disorder in the world, and explore how environmental toxins (rather than aging or genetics), are fueling its rise. Dr. Dorsey shares his expertise on how exposures, even as early as in utero, can increase the risk of Parkinson's and other serious conditions, and offers practical steps families can take to protect themselves and future generations.

Throughout our conversation, we discuss the broader themes of environmental health, fertility, and advocacy. We explore the science behind how early-life exposures can plant the seeds for neurodegenerative diseases, the importance of shifting our understanding from genetics to environment, and the actionable ways we can reduce risk. Dr. Dorsey also introduces the "Parkinson's 25" - a set of practical recommendations for families, and shares inspiring stories of advocacy and change.

In this episode, we cover:
💙Why Parkinson's Disease is rising and the role of environmental toxins
💙The impact of early-life and in utero exposures on long-term neurological health
💙The difference between genetic and environmental risk factors for Parkinson's
💙How pesticides, air pollution, and chemicals like trichloroethylene affect fertility and brain health
💙The "Parkinson's 25" steps for reducing risk and protecting your family
💙Advocacy success stories, including the Healthy Schools Act and organic golf courses
💙Practical tips for improving indoor air quality and minimizing everyday exposures

Does EmbryoGlue Really Improve IVF Success? New ESHRE Research Challenges a Popular IVF Add-On23 sept. 202600:23:50

Embryo Glue is one of the most talked-about IVF add-ons. Does it actually lives up to the hype?

I invited Dr. Nirvika Singh Sharma, associate lab director at Ovation Fertility San Antonio, to share what her new research found about embryo glue.

Dr. Sharma is a physician, reproductive scientist, and embryologist who recently led a major study presented at ESHRE examining whether EmbryoGlue, a high-concentration hyaluronan transfer medium, actually improves outcomes in frozen embryo transfer cycles. We dig into what embryo glue really is, what her research found across 593 euploid FET cycles, and what patients should know before paying extra for this popular IVF add-on.

Read the full show notes.

In this episode, we cover:

  • What EmbryoGlue actually is
  • How hyaluronan works in the reproductive tract and whether more of it helps implantation
  • Dr. Sharma's study design: 593 single euploid frozen embryo transfers across four medium combinations
  • The results: pregnancy rates were 63–67% regardless of whether EmbryoGlue or standard media was used
  • The difference between proven effective and possible benefit in IVF add-ons
  • What actually drives implantation: embryo quality, ploidy, and the embryo-endometrium conversation

Becoming A Changemaker on Your Fertility Journey with guest Alex Budak22 sept. 202600:32:14

Read the full show notes at Dr. Aimee's website.

Alex Budak is an author and faculty member at Berkeley Haas School of Business. He recently wrote a book called "Becoming a Changemaker."

If there is anything I know about fertility patients it's that you all know a lot about being on a journey that often involves embracing change. You become more resilient, and you follow a "growth" mindset. You cling to hope and you let it lead the way forward. It's no surprise that I would have a social entrepreneur and changemaker on the show.

You have a lot in common with what Alex teaches and writes about:

"Developing a changemaker mindset often requires holding two seemingly contradictory traits simultaneously: Having a strong personal vision yet being open to collaborating with others. Employing drive and determination to push through barrier after barrier yet knowing when to step back and recharge."

Today we're talking about how to become a Changemaker on your fertility journey. Here are three traits he believes a changemaker has:

1. There's always another way
2. Existing at the edges
3. Learned Hopefulness / Learned Optimism

You can learn more about Alex and get his book here: https://www.alexbudak.com/

Read the full show notes on Dr. Aimee's website.

Dr. Aimee invites board-certified genetic counselor Natalie Richeimer to discuss the crucial intersection of genetic counseling, IVF, and cancer. Natalie explains the role of genetic counselors in the fertility space, particularly how they assist patients in understanding their risk for genetic conditions stemming from family history, personal health, or ethnicity.

Dr. Aimee and Natalie talk about the important work done by JScreen, an organization providing accessible genetic testing for cancer and carrier screening. The conversation highlights the importance of understanding whether cancer is hereditary or sporadic, the implications of genetic predispositions, and how early genetic testing can impact fertility planning and treatment options.

Natalie shares insights on the different types of genetic tests available, including those for embryos, and emphasizes the evolving nature and expanding role of genetic testing in family planning. They also discuss common misconceptions about genetic testing, especially among patients with a family history of cancer, and offer practical advice on how to access genetic counseling and testing through JScreen.

Most Commonly Asked IVF Questions14 sept. 202600:30:28

Read the notes and transcript here.
I get asked questions about IVF daily, from my patients and from those seeking treatment elsewhere in the United States and beyond. While the steps involved in IVF are generally the same, the factors to consider and the patient's needs are all unique. While I can't cover all scenarios in a single show (or blog post), I do want to recap some of the most common questions I get and answer some specific inquiries that were emailed to me. There's a chance you have the same question as someone else.

Everything You Need to Know Before Picking an Egg Donor11 sept. 202600:27:04

Whether you're an egg donor now, if you're considering it, or you know someone that is — I'm glad you're here.

Young women are donating eggs at the time they are most fertile, often times not realizing the implications of what that means. I've had patients come to me in their 40s without enough healthy eggs of their own to conceive. When they share with me that they themselves donated their young and healthy eggs in their 20s or 30s, but that none are available for them, I feel frustrated and sad for them.

Frustrated enough that I'm doing something about it. Freeze & Share is a program that helps young egg donors save some eggs for themselves should they need them, while helping another family conceive when they can't on their own.

Suffice to say, I don't want anyone to look back at their egg donation and wish they'd known more.

Here is your chance — I want to give you all the information I have so that you're equipped with the knowledge to make the best decision for your personal situation.

The Latest Advances in Endometriosis Care with guest Dr. Mathew Leonardi10 sept. 202600:30:50

Welcome to The Egg Whisperer Show! Today's guest is Dr. Mathew Leonardi, an advanced gynecological surgeon, sonologist, and researcher at McMaster University Medical Center in Hamilton, Canada. He's also completing his PhD at the University of Sydney, focusing on the role of ultrasound in the diagnosis and surgical management of endometriosis.

Dr. Leonardi is internationally recognized for his work in gynecological surgery and ultrasound, serves as a Junior Ambassador for the World Endometriosis Society, and contributes to clinical guidelines and editorial boards in reproductive medicine. In this episode, we're diving into the latest advances in endometriosis diagnosis, treatment, and whole-patient care, including research into the microbiome, biomarkers, and alternative management strategies.

Here are some of the key questions and topics we cover in this conversation:

  • What it means to self-identify as an "endometriosis expert" and why early, accurate testing is so important
  • How the microbiome of the reproductive tract may influence both endometriosis and infertility
  • Why common biomarkers like CA-125 have limited usefulness, and what new research on VEGF and inflammatory markers may reveal
  • Whether genetic testing could one day help identify susceptibility to endometriosis
  • How complementary strategies like pelvic floor physiotherapy, dietary changes, acupuncture, cannabis, and psychotherapy can support fertility patients living with endometriosis
  • Why advocacy (both self-advocacy in the clinic and public advocacy through research and awareness) is key to advancing care for all patients

In this episode of the Egg Whisperer Show, I have the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Abby Eblen, Dr. Carrie Bedient, and Dr. Susan Hudson: board-certified reproductive endocrinologists, co-hosts of the "Fertility Docs Uncensored" podcast, and authors of the new book, "The IVF Blueprint." Revolutionizing Donor Conception: Danielle Winston on Known Sperm Donors and The Seed Scout (Fertility Expert Series)07 sept. 202600:09:49
I'm talking all about the benefits of known sperm donation with Danielle Winston of The Seed Scout @theseedscout on today's brand new episode of The Egg Whisperer Show.

When Danielle and her partner, practicing pediatrician Dr. Paige Kennedy-Winston, were looking to build their own family, they quickly realized the space of sperm banking was riddled with roadblocks for most families.

The process was highly impersonal, the anonymity and lack of diversity adding to the problem, and options seemed extremely limited. That's when Danielle and Dr. Kennedy-Winston took matters into their own hands and found their own donor.

They got the idea for their sperm donor matchmaking concierge service, The Seed Scout, from their own first-hand experience. With Danielle's business and law background and Dr. Kennedy-Winston's pediatric experience, they made The Seed Scout a reality by taking a human-centered, ethical approach to known sperm donation that's founded on the belief that it's a basic human right to know the identity of one's donor and genetic origins.

In this conversation, Danielle and I talked all about:

💙How The Seed Scout is different from traditional sperm banks
💙The extensive screening process used to make sure donors are aligned with their clients
💙Why it was so important to learn about and build from the perspective of donor-conceived individuals
💙How The Seed Scout guides families through the legal and logistical aspects of donor conception to ensure a smooth, ethical process
💙How they balance the seriousness of family planning with creating a fun and fulfilling experience for their clients

If you're curious about sperm donation and want to understand the process, your most ethical options, and how you can actually make this fun, you're not going to want to miss this episode!

Rapamycin to Delay Menopause with the Egg Whisperer Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh03 sept. 202600:23:26

Read the full show notes on Dr. Aimee's website.

I'm excited to be joining Dr. Lorne Brown on the Conscious Fertility Podcast to dive into a fascinating topic: Rapamycin. While it's started to be used as an anti-aging drug, I've been exploring its potential for reproductive health, especially in improving fertility and delaying menopause.

In this episode, I share my personal experience taking Rapamycin, including how it's affected my skin, menstrual cycles, and overall health. We'll also get into the science behind it and how it may be beneficial for women going through menopause or undergoing fertility treatments like IVF.

While I'm passionate about this topic, I want to emphasize that this is not medical advice—always consult your doctor before considering any new treatments. I also share how my alcohol-free lifestyle supports my approach to healthy aging and fertility.

Key points covered include:

  • How Rapamycin may help delay menopause, reverse its effects, and support fertility treatments.
  • Some of the potential side effects, like cystic acne and mouth sores.
  • Why I started using and prescribing Rapamycin for longevity and helping women improve fertility later in life.
  • My personal experience with Rapamycin, including smoother skin, regular cycles, and no gray hair at 48.
  • The importance of consulting your doctor before trying Rapamycin, as this podcast is informational and not meant as medical advice.

Ten Steps to Adopt a "Float Through Life" Mindset for Fertility Patients01 sept. 202600:06:49

Read the full notes and transcript at Dr. Aimee's website.

After 20 years of practicing medicine, I've learned that not everything is sunshine and rainbows. To help myself and my fertility patients, I've adopted a "float through life" mindset—emphasizing mindfulness, calmness, adaptability, and acceptance. Whether you're going through IVF or simply exploring your fertility options, cultivating a positive mindset can help you feel more grounded and supported in the process.

In this episode, I share how mindfulness and a flexible mindset can be powerful tools for fertility patients. Instead of being consumed by stress or uncertainty, you'll learn how to approach IVF and your fertility journey with more ease, presence, and hope. This shift toward a positive mindset doesn't mean ignoring challenges—it means embracing tools that allow you to move through them with greater strength and grace.

In this episode, we cover:

  • How to embrace situations as they come without spiraling when plans change
  • The power of mindfulness and accepting impermanence in difficult times
  • Ways to stay flexible, cultivate gratitude, and detach from rigid outcomes
  • Why humor, lightheartedness, and community support matter in tough moments
  • Practical steps for prioritizing self-care, limiting overthinking, and trusting the journey

Exploring Donor Conception and Infertility Advocacy with Our Hearts Match Author Victoria Nino28 août 202600:34:36

I am talking to the incredible Victoria Nino, author of Our Hearts Match, donor conception advocate, and mom of two about one of the most vulnerable moments in a fertility journey: what happens after IVF fails.

Victoria has lived through multiple failed IVF cycles, stage three endometriosis, years of heartbreak, and ultimately became a mother twice over through donor egg conception via two very different paths. Her story is raw, honest, and full of the kind of hard-won wisdom that only comes from truly living it.

We dive deep into the emotional rollercoaster of failed IVF cycles, the grief that so often goes unacknowledged, and what it really takes to open the door to donor eggs, not out of defeat, but out of empowerment. Victoria shares how education, community, and even a spiritual trip to Thailand helped her find her footing, and why she believes you don't have to be 100% emotionally ready, you just have to be willing to take a peek.

In this episode, we cover:

  • The grief of failed IVF cycles and why it deserves to be treated like any other profound loss
  • The emotional tipping point between exhaustion and openness when considering donor eggs
  • The difference between fresh and frozen donor eggs including cost, timeline, and access
  • What an open donor relationship looks like and why Victoria wishes she'd had it from the start
  • How epigenetics and bonding science can help shift your perspective on the mother-child relationship
  • Overcoming shame, fear of judgment, and the "am I the real mom?" question
  • Why Victoria's one regret is that she didn't do it sooner and what she'd tell anyone in the "what now" moment right now

In this episode of The Egg Whisperer Show, I'm joined by Dr. Karen Tang, a renowned gynecologist and advocate for women's health. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Tang specializes in endometriosis, fibroids, chronic pelvic pain, menopause, and gender-affirming care. She is the founder of Thrive Gynecology in Philadelphia, where she provides expert care to patients nationwide.

Dr. Tang shares insights from her new book, It's Not Hysteria: Everything You Need to Know About Your Reproductive Health, which educates and empowers women by dispelling myths and addressing common issues like endometriosis, PCOS, and fibroids. The discussion also delves into systemic barriers in healthcare, the importance of self-advocacy, and practical tips for making the most of your doctor's visits.

Why Didn't Your IUI Work?21 août 202600:13:48

One of the most common questions I get asked is "Why didn't my IUI work?" It's a great question because there are many factors that come into play with intrauterine insemination. If you're my patient, we'd start by checking the Fallopian tubes, uterus, and sperm quality first.⠀

But let's say you've done the #TUSHYcheck, the tubes are clear and everything else looks good. So why doesn't IUI work?

The answer I share with my patients is: because you're human. Yes, it's really as simple as that. ⠀

To put IUI into perspective, 90% of the time it doesn't work. ⠀

So if your IUI didn't work, I want you to know that there's nothing wrong with you, and you're normal, and human. It's that simple.⠀
