Private DeFi Is Coming: Why Privacy Is Ethereum's Next Frontier | Lean Ethereum15 Sep 202600:53:30

Thomas Thierry is a Researcher at the Ethereum Foundation.

Every transaction you make onchain is trackable. And most of us have just accepted that as normal, but we shouldn't have to!

In this next episode of our Lean Ethereum series, Thomas walks through what's actually broken with privacy today, how Ethereum is getting closer to native private transactions, and what private DeFi will actually look like for end users. He also covers how Ethereum compares to Zcash, why privacy is essential for institutional adoption, and why being unstoppable as a network goes hand-in-hand with privacy.

Could Derive V3 Be "The Lighter" of Onchain Options On Ethereum? | DeFi Frontier09 Sep 202600:48:52

Nick Forster is the CoFounder and CEO of Derive.

Could Derive V3 do for options, what Lighter did for perps on Ethereum?!

In this episode of DeFi Frontier, Nick returns to to walk us through what to expect when Derive V3 ships this month of September: a ZK application that collapses the exchange, execution layer, and settlement into one stack, making institutional onboarding as simple as a few lines of code.

He covers the decision for where they will deploy V3 and why Ethereum seems most likely to be V3's future home. We also discuss what the new arrival of tokenized stocks and RWAs means for onchain options and how big the TAM still is for onchain options.

Polaris: Earn Yield On Gold, ETH, and BTC With No Counterparty Risk | DeFi Frontier12 Aug 202600:47:01

Robert Mullins is the CoFounder of Polaris.

DeFi has a yield trap, where we're entirely reliant on staking rewards, T-bills, and basis trades for yield, all sources we don't fully control.

In this new episode of DeFi Frontier, Robert explains how Polaris built native yield infrastructure for Ethereum. We review a new native yield-bearing ETH called pETH, that has both a market price and a mathematically guaranteed floor price. With pETH, users will be able to mint a stablecoin USDp, or Polaris digital gold GOLDp or other pAssets supported by the protocol. Robert walks us through Polaris's vision to issue stablecoins, commodities and synthetic assets against pETH, with the economic activity generated flowing back into the ecosystem.

Is STRC Back? Apyx's Parker White On What Comes Next and Tokenizing STRC For DeFi05 Aug 202601:01:53

Parker White is a Founding Contributor of Apyx.

Is STRC back? Saylor's flagship BTC-backed dividend-paying instrument has had a rough summer, trading more than 10% below par since mid-June, until this week. It's been a full on panic of investors asking what comes next.

In this episode, Parker walks us through why STRC exists in the first place, why it's often misunderstood, and how it can fully restore investor confidence to get back to par ($100). He covers what Apyx does to distribute STRC exposure onchain, what happened with Apyx's own apyUSD/apxUSD and what's been improved since then. He also explains why DeFi composability makes STRC exponentially more powerful onchain than it is in a brokerage account.

Crypto Is No Longer In The Dreaming Phase, We're Now In The Big Boy Era15 Jul 202600:52:52

Johann Eid is the Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs.

In this episode, Johann walks us through how crypto has evolved from a dreaming phase of romanticized white papers into its "big boy era," where hundreds of billions are now onchain, institutions from around the world are tokenizing RWAs like stocks, and stablecoins have changed the lives of everyday people from Lebanon to South America. He emphasizes why security is the foundation of everything built, what Chainlink's CCIP offers for an interoperable DeFi economy, and why AI agents transacting onchain represent the next wave of users nobody is pricing in yet.

The DeFi Circuit Breaker That Could Have Stopped The rsETH Exploit, And Why Linea Implemented It26 Jun 202600:48:47

Odysseus is the Founder and CEO of Phylax Systems, and Declan Fox is the VP and Head of Linea at Consensys.

The rsETH exploit drained $292M from Aave, but a simple rule or circuit breaker could have prevented bigger losses!

In this episode, Odysseus and Declan walk us through how Phylax's DeFi circuit breaker works: code currently running on the Linea sequencer that checks every transaction against a set of protocol-defined policies before it's added to a block. Already live on Linea, Phylax has stopped over 4,000 drain attempts and protected $1.5M in cumulative volume, including a real attack on 0x where users were being drained through an immutable contract. They also cover what institutions are still waiting for before coming onchain, and how banks can build secure, private composable environments powered by Ethereum.

Ethereum Is A Vault, ETH Is The Lock: A Framework for ETH's Fair Value, Today and By 203019 Jun 202600:54:50

Tom Dunleavy is Head of Venture at Varys Capital.

In this episode, Tom walks us through his valuation framework for ETH. He offers a mental model where Ethereum is the vault filled with stablecoins, RWAs, and DeFi activity secured by it. But ETH is the lock--and the bigger the vault gets, the more valuable the lock has to be to protect it. Based on Ethereum's current onchain activity, Tom gets us to a fair value for ETH that's much higher than the price today. Furthermore, we discuss what happens to the price of ETH when Ethereum grows to $750B-$1T onchain by 2030.

Tom insists the vault won't stop growing thanks to demand for stablecoins and RWAs—and that ETH, the lock, is simply due for a repricing.

In this episode of Revenue Meta, Kash walks us through how Jupiter generates revenue across five distinct products: DEX aggregator, perps, Jupiter Lend, JupUSD, and Jupiter Spend, plus more revenue streams growing in development. This is a fascinating deep dive into Solana's largest, most dominant DeFi super app, including why perps for just three trading pairs wins over so much trade volume, how JLP remains one of Jupiter's most popular products, and how JUP token value accrual is aligned with Jupiter's app success. We also get the inside details on what's coming with Jupiter Lens DEX, prediction markets for the World Cup, Jupiter Spend, and their new Offerbook for borrowing and lending with long tail tokens.

Why Private Credit Is Moving Onchain — And What DeFi Gets Right and Wrong About It30 May 202601:07:35

David Vatchev is Head of Tokenization at Fasanara, Arpan Gautam is the Founder at Noon, and Rob Montgomery is the CoFounder at infiniFi.

In this episode, David, Arpan, and Rob break down why not all private credit is the same, and why the short duration, asset-backed, diversified kind is fundamentally different from what's causing problems in TradFi. They walk through how Noon and infiniFi independently chose to allocate to Fasanara, how the First Brands Group bankruptcy stress-tested their thesis in real time, and what tokenized private credit needs to get right in its next phase for DeFi.

Strata: Why DeFi Is Finally Ready for Risk Tranching | DeFi Frontier24 May 202600:51:07

Vish is the CoFounder & CEO of Frontera Labs, the developer behind Strata.

DeFi has an abundance of exotic yields. What's been missing is a way to transfer risk between users who want different things. So while risk tranching has existed in TradFi for decades, Strata just made it permissionless.

In this episode, Vish explains how Strata brings risk tranching fully onchain: senior tranches for conservative capital that wants protected yield, junior tranches for risk-tolerant capital earning ~2x the base rate. All enforced by smart contracts. He demos a live Strata market, walks through how the yield split mechanism works under the hood, and explains why mispriced lending yields are DeFi's biggest unsolved problem, and how tranching fixes it.

Tori: Tokenizing 15% Yield From Institutional FX Markets, Uncorrelated With Crypto | DeFi Frontier20 May 202600:29:10

Samed Düzçay is the Founder of Tori.

DeFi yields often collapse in bear markets because they recycle crypto-native capital. But Tori generates yield from somewhere else entirely.

In this episode, Sam explains how Tori brings institutional FX carry trades onchain, borrowing in low-rate currencies, lending in high-rate emerging market currencies, and hedging the FX exposure fully back to USD. The spread that remains after hedging is 8-15% yield, generated from real economic activity in global money markets, completely uncorrelated with crypto cycles. Tori is expected to launch in May so we're getting a jumpstart with this episode of DeFi Frontier to learn more.

The Next Battle In DeFi Lending Is What's Inside Your Vault | DeFi Frontier06 May 202600:59:24

David Reising is the Founder of Lotus.

"Aave compresses risk. Morpho isolates it. Lotus clears it."

In this episode, David walks through why avoiding bad debt has become DeFi lending's biggest self-imposed constraint and how Lotus's connected tranches, cascading liquidity, and productive debt unlock a yield curve that neither Aave nor Morpho can offer.

According to David, the next battle in DeFi lending is what's inside your vault, and Lotus is the answer.

Rysk: How to Earn Stablecoin Yield with DeFi Options in 1-Click | DeFi Frontier05 May 202600:43:28

Daniele Ugolini is the CoFounder at Rysk.

DeFi options have failed repeatedly. Ribbon, Opyn, and a long list of protocols shut down or pivoted. Rysk almost joined them, over two years ago they had no product and were close to quitting.

In this new episode of DeFi Frontier, Dan walks through how Rysk rebuilt from zero to $60M TVL in under a year by solving the one thing every previous options protocol got wrong: making it simple enough for anyone to actually use. He demos how users on Rysk use cash secured puts and covered calls, explains why 90% of users roll over their positions every Friday, and addresses the criticism around Rysk's premium vs Derive head on.

The Alchemix Comeback: Vaults, Fixed Yields, 10x Looping, and Why They've Been Building V3 For Years30 Apr 202601:15:26

Scoopy Trooples is the Founder of Alchemix.

Many DeFi protocols from 2021 are gone. But Alchemix never quit.

In this episode, Scoopy walks through the full Alchemix V3 redesign: how the new Mix-Yield Token (MYT) creates vaulted yields users can borrow against at 90% LTV, with zero interest, looping up to 10x, and how fixed-term redemptions unlock an entirely new yield primitive. Alchemix was the first protocol to use yield-bearing collateral for loans. V3 looks to be the long overdue evolution of the self-repaying loan, and we think this version can scale to be even bigger than V1.

Vivek Raman is Etherealize CoFounder and CEO while Michael McGuiness is an Etherealize Researcher and author of their recent report "Ethereum and The Era of Productive Money."

Many have viewed ETH as a technology bet. Etherealize just published a report arguing it's something far more important, better money than BTC and gold, and the first monetary asset in history that actually compounds.

In this episode, they break down their $250,000 ETH thesis and why institutions that understand pristine collateral are quietly becoming the biggest ETH bulls.

Sam MacPherson is the CoFounder and CEO of Phoenix Labs, the core team behind Spark.

Some DeFi protocols are burning through reserves, while others wait for the bull market to save them. Spark is doing neither.

In a new episode of our Revenue Meta series, Sam breaks down the business behind Spark and how it's generating $27.8M in projected annual revenue (up from $23M since recording) across four business channels. We discuss what's being done with the $9.6M protocol surplus to better return value to SPK holders through programmatic buybacks and growth initiatives. We also cover the Spark Liquidity Layer managing over $2.3 billion in DeFi, CeFi, and TradFi. Sam has the latest on their upcoming CeDeFi prime brokerage called Spark Prime and what else is in store to get Spark back to earning a projected $80M in annual revenue.

How Saturn Is Tokenizing Michael Saylor's 11.5% STRC Bitcoin Yield for DeFi | DeFi Frontier15 Apr 202600:47:03

Ellis Osborn and Kevin Li are CoFounders of Saturn.

This is the first episode in a new series by The Edge Podcast covering emerging DeFi builders. Ellis and Kevin break down how Saturn tokenizes STRC via two onchain assets, USDat and sUSDat. Michael Saylor and his team at Strategy built STRC to pay an 11.5% yield backed by Bitcoin. Saturn is building the DeFi layer on top of this STRC yield.

We learn how Saturn's tokenized yield unlocks global access to STRC, higher leverage through the likes of Morpho, yield trading on Pendle, and risk tranching soon through Strata. They share more on why Saylor himself is so excited for what Saturn is working on to distribute STRC yield on Ethereum. We cover why digital credit might be superior to private credit, and how STRC could become "the risk-free rate of onchain finance."

Why Katana Is Not An L2, It's A DeFi Super App31 Mar 202601:03:10

Matthew Fisher is CEO of Katana.

Many L2s have launched, hoping the apps show up. Katana is taking a different approach, building apps itself and designing the economic engine from day one to make this all possible.

In this episode, Matthew breaks down how vaultbridge assets like vbETH and vbUSDT redirect real yield from Ethereum Mainnet to active DeFi participants on Katana, why they acquired the team behind IDEX to launch Katana Perps, and their roadmap to onboard major liquidity from CEXs like OKX and fintechs like Revolut who can route liquidity through Katana for yield.

Why Onchain Options Are Finally Working: Derive's 90% Market Share and What's Next?26 Mar 202601:03:15

Nick Forster is CoFounder and CEO of Derive.

Every year since 2021, we've said onchain options would be huge, but it's never played out, until now. Derive has captured 90-95% of onchain options volume while competitors all died or pivoted to perps. The inflection point has arrived.

In this episode, Nick explains why he stayed the course building the hardest product in DeFi, how Yieldmageddon is bullish for the growth of options, and why institutional funds are now turning to onchain options for yield generation. The thesis was right. The timing was just early. And the network effects now make Derive's moat nearly impossible to replicate.

Across Token Buyout: The First Proposal to Convert Back to a Private Company11 Mar 202600:49:42

Hart Lambur is the CoFounder of Across.

We host a timely new discussion on the reasoning behind the first ever major token buyout in DeFi, a proposal to convert ACX tokenholders into equity shareholders of a traditional private company for Across. Hart explains how the $25M treasury would finance the buyout, and the vision for Across's future as stablecoin infrastructure where "$1 equals $1" and users pay nothing to move money across chains.

In this episode, we cover:
+ Why the token model isn't working: DAO governance challenges and misaligned incentives
+ How the buyout works: token-to-equity conversion, and who can participate
+ The new business model: Free stablecoin movement powered by intents, with issuers paying fees instead of users

Why DeFi Needs Credit Ratings And How Credora Is Building Them05 Mar 202600:59:34

Gil Santos is Lead Quant at Credora, and Marcin Kazmierczak is CoFounder of RedStone, which recently acquired Credora.

We dig into why DeFi desperately needs credit ratings, how Credora is building them, and why this is the missing piece for institutional capital to flow onchain. Gil explains the problem: DeFi has transparency of transactions but opacity when it comes to risk. You can see every trade onchain, but you can't tell if a Morpho vault is genuinely safer than another. Credora is building the Moody's and S&P for DeFi—real-time, dynamic risk ratings that update as market conditions change.

In this episode, we cover:
+ Why DeFi needs a ratings protocol ($10B rated, 80% Morpho TVL coverage)
+ The L2Beat parallel: Raising standards for the industry
+ How Credora ratings work: assessment from collateral → markets → vaults
+ 2026 vision: Stablecoins to $1T, fintechs offering rated yields to retail

Vitalik Recommits To Decentralization, Why No One Owns Their Stock, and Unlocking True RWA Ownership27 Feb 202601:12:26

Gabriel Shapiro is a top legal expert in cryptoassets and tokenization, who is now Founder of MetaLeX, where he's building onchain legal entities and tokenized securities infrastructure.

We dig into Vitalik's recent tweet about refocusing on Ethereum L1 scaling, why Ethereum's commitment to maximum decentralization matters, and the evolution of L2s. Then Gabriel dives into why you don't actually own your stock and how that figures into the emerging RWA sector. We explore why this system exists, why most RWA tokenization recreates the same broken intermediaries, and how MetaLeX is building true ownership onchain.

In this episode, we cover:
+ Why Ethereum is refocusing on L1 scaling and what it means for L2s
+ The Cede & Co revelation: how stock ownership actually works
+ Three tokenization philosophies (and why most recreate the problem)
+ BORGs: Cybernetic organizations that merge legal entities with smart contracts
+ Unbreachable legal agreements using private keys as legal authority
+ How MetaLeX replaces Carta + AngelList + DocuSign atomically
+ AI agents spinning up their own companies with legal personhood

Lighter's Founder on Ethereum's Fastest DEX: LIT, Robinhood, and The TradFi-DeFi Bridge11 Feb 202600:46:52

Vlad Novakovski is the Founder and CEO of Lighter, a high-performance ZK-based perps and spot exchange, built on Ethereum.

A year ago, Lighter hadn't even launched. Today it's processing billions in daily volume, handling 500 million orders at a total cost of around $50K. Vlad's background spans STEM Olympiads, Harvard at 18, Citadel trading, and being an early advisor to Robinhood. Now he's building the infrastructure layer for when TradFi and DeFi merge.

Vlad breaks down how Lighter achieves centralized exchange performance on Ethereum, what Robinhood's $68M investment means for tokenized equities, and the post-TGE reality for LIT: token down, volumes pulled back, but fundamentals unchanged.

In this episode, we cover:
+ Scaling Ethereum's top perps DEX
+ Robinhood's $68M bet and tokenized equities
+ LIT token utility and value capture
+ Roadmap: options, prediction markets, fixed income

Financing The AI Boom: How DeFi Is Filling A Trillion-Dollar Gap08 Feb 202601:01:27

David Choi and Conor Moore are CoFounders of Permian Labs, the builders behind USDai.

AI infrastructure is projecting trillions of dollars in CapEx spend, but there's a problem: traditional finance can't keep up. Banks move too slow. Private credit funds can't scale. The most important commodity in the world has no liquid debt market.

USDai is filling this gap by financing AI infrastructure with GPU-backed loans, offering stablecoin depositors 10-15% APR. David and Conor break down how they're using DeFi rails and tokenization to create liquid debt markets for GPUs, enabling institutional borrowers to access capital and retail users to earn yield on productive AI infrastructure.

In this episode, we cover:
+ Why trillions in AI CapEx can't get traditional financing
+ How USDAI structures loans against GPUs, not businesses
+ Why this could become "the interest rate of artificial intelligence"
+ Their two-token model: USDai vs. sUSDai

Breaking The Token Playbook: Cap's $12M Stabledrop04 Feb 202600:38:45

Benjamin is the Founder of Cap and DeFi Dave is the Founding Head of Growth.

Token launches are broken. Founders pay exchanges 5-10% of supply, airdrop to farmers who dump immediately, and wonder why everything goes to zero. Benjamin calls it "the conveyor belt to death." Cap is breaking the playbook: no CEX listing fees, no token airdrops, and no TVL deals paid in tokens. Instead, they're doing the first-ever Stabledrop—$12 million in stablecoins to early supporters, funded by their upcoming ICO on Uniswap.

In this episode, we cover:
+ Why the status quo token launch playbook leads to death
+ The Stabledrop: How $12M in stablecoins rewards early users
+ Cap's three rules: No airdrops, no CEX fees, no token TVL deals

Crypto Is Winning, Tokens Aren't: Why Fundamentals Matter More Than Ever03 Feb 202601:08:03

Grant is the Founder & CEO of Blocmates, and 563 is Head of Research.

Crypto is winning, but tokens aren't. Headlines that would have pumped markets 30-40% in 2021 barely move prices today. There's a massive disconnect between fundamentals and price action--record adoption, institutional integration, real-world use cases, yet token prices are bleeding. Grant and 563 break down why this paradox exists, where the industry goes from here, and what actually matters this year in their newly published Blocmates 2026 Thesis.

In this episode:
+ The paradox: Why fundamentals are up but token prices are down
+ Token distribution and fixing tokenholder rights for real ownership
+ Why we don't need more L1s and what wins: distribution or innovation
+ ZK as the unlock for Ethereum scaling and new on-chain products

How Vaults Are Bringing DeFi To Millions29 Jan 202600:51:19

Sun Raghupathi is CoFounder and CEO of Veda.

DeFi is living through interesting times: record adoption, proven infrastructure, institutional interest—but low sentiment and struggling token prices. Sun calls this "the enterprise era for DeFi," where protocols that don't have a B2B strategy for the largest financial institutions may not survive. But here's the opportunity: for the first time, DeFi is actually ready for mainstream users. In fact, Kraken just launched new DeFi Earn vaults powered by Veda, giving millions of users instant access to onchain yields without leaving the Kraken app.

In this episode, we cover:
+ DeFi's enormous future in enterprise partnerships and distribution

Pendle's Revenue Breakdown (And Why Boros Could Explode in 2026) | Revenue Meta28 Jan 202600:49:47

TN Lee is CoFounder and CEO of Pendle.

Pendle generates revenue through two streams: YT fees (5% of all yield and points accrued) and swap fees from PT trading activity. The protocol settled $45 billion in value for PT holders in just 2025, nearly doubling revenue YoY as TVL grew from $6.9B to $13.4B. But the real story for 2026 is Boros, Pendle's new rates trading platform that's already hit $200M in open interest and is positioning itself as infrastructure for the explosive growth in onchain RWA and equity perps.

In this episode of Revenue Meta, we cover:
+ Pendle's dual revenue model
+ Why vePENDLE is being replaced with sPENDLE
+ How Boros enables traders to hedge funding rate risk on CEX/DEX perps
+ 2026 growth strategy: RWAs, institutional adoption, and rates trading at scale
