Cultivating Humility, Respect, and Resiliency in Our Kids (Podcast 551)30 Aug 202400:42:17

Parenting is the most important endeavor of our lives. And there's no shortage of advice on how to raise kids. But how do we sort the folly from the wisdom? Today Jill Garner cuts through modern parenting myths and trends to deliver the bold truth about what it will take to raise the next generation. Jill provides evidence-based solutions for parents seeking to raise children of character who can overcome—rather than succumb to—a culture full of turmoil.

College Alternatives: Excel College (Podcast 443).mp318 Aug 202300:36:25

We have all been repeatedly told that the traditional college setting is the only path to success but the truth is that it is all but obsolete. Only one of our kids went the college route, but all have been successful with or without college. I have a series of podcast episodes where I interviewed each of our grown kids who shared their journey after high school. (I’ll leave links below.)

This year, I’ve spoken at 9 homeschool conferences and I’ve noticed more and more alternatives being offered for high school graduates so I decided to start a series of episodes I will share periodically called, "College Alternatives".

Teaching Our Kids Discernment in a Dangerous World (Podcast 442)14 Aug 202300:30:18

The world can feel like a scary place, but children need to feel safe and secure rather than growing up scared or sheltered from potential dangers. Today, Julie Lowe, a counselor, mom, and author, shares some ways that we can teach the safety skills that will help protect our kids from mistreatment, unsafe situations, violence, bullying, cybercrimes, predatory behavior, sexting, abuse and other kinds of danger they might encounter.

This episode is full of wisdom and practical ideas!

What Being Raising in a Large Homeschooling Family Taught This Couple (540)22 Jul 202400:38:19
Have you ever wondered if kids from large homeschooled families grow up to resent or appreciate this unconventional lifestyle? Today, Elisha and Katie Voetberg join us to discuss

how their large homeschooling family background has impacted how they see and are raising their own family, the principles that they believe are worth continuing to live out, and how it's possible to stay connected to your kids in such a way that even when they are grown, they want to spend time with you.

Reactive Parenting Vs Responsive Parenting (Podcast 441)11 Aug 202300:27:45

As a veteran mom, I’ve seen many trends in parenting come and go and they seem to lean extremely toward either permissive or authoritative parenting styles that pendulum swing back and forth based on a reaction to the other side.

As Christian parents, it’s essential that stay focused on Biblical parenting, regardless of the latest trends.

Education: Does God Have an Opinion? (Podcast 435)21 Jul 202300:41:36
Education is on the minds of parents now more than ever. With the push to teach Critical Race Theory and the LBGTQ agenda, parents are scrambling to make educational decisions that will protect their children.   But was there even a day when our education system was neutral? Is this even possible? More importantly, what does GOD have to say about all of this? Have you ever wondered if God actually has an opinion when it comes to education? Do you believe that education can, in fact, be neutral?

Taking the Overwhelm Out of Family Worship (Podcast 432)10 Jul 202300:39:52

We all know that God calls us to worship on Sundays with other believers, but we are also biblically called to disciple our children and part of that means worship(time in the word and prayer with our kids) should be a daily practice. This can feel very intimidating and bring with those feelings an intense fear of failure that can keep us from enjoying the blessings that God intended family worship to be.

Today Steve Demme is joining me to talk with us about ways to take the overwhelm out of family worship!

Thoughts on Feeling Inadequate (Podcast 428)26 Jun 202300:44:45

One of the most common struggles every mom deals with is feeling inadequate. It happens frequently and can become overwhelming.

When we feel this way, it’s easy to grasp the first “comfort” we can find without actually drilling down further and finding our answers in God’s word.

This will be an ongoing battle unless we stand firmly on the truth God has for us.

Does Homeschooling Have to All Day? (Podcast 427)23 Jun 202300:23:29

Thinking that schoolwork is an all-day event is a myth that keeps some parents from considering home education. But even for those who have made the decision to homeschool, there can be a nagging feeling that if we aren’t hitting the books well past lunchtime, we can’t possibly be giving our kids a complete education.

Nothing could be further from the truth!

Are We Gossiping When We Speak Negatively About Our Children (Podcast 420)29 May 202300:27:41

What I Have Learned About Autism So Far (Podcast 418)22 May 202300:50:14

Many of you know that our youngest son was diagnosed with Autism last fall. I knew since he was very young that he was likely on the spectrum, but he continued to progress in his development so we never had him evaluated. Some significant changes happened in him about a year ago which led us to finally seek a diagnosis.

Today I am sharing our journey with you along with some things I have learned over the last year that you may find helpful if you have a child that may be on the spectrum, have one on the spectrum, or know someone with a child on the spectrum, or want to learn more so you can have a better understanding.

Finding Biblical Clarity in a Secular Culture (Podcast 416)15 May 202300:35:08

As mainstream culture grows more hostile toward the Bible’s truths and those who embrace them, Christians will face mounting pressures from family, friends, media, academia, and government to change and even abandon their beliefs. However, these challenges also create abundant opportunities to stand strong for Christ and shine a light to those hurt by the darkness of our day.

Jesus Return: Revelation, Mark of the Beast, and the Antichrist (Podcast 409)21 Apr 202301:05:26

The study of the end times can be confusing and overwhelming, but Wes and I have attempted to share some nuts and bolts on this topic.

Last week we shared an episode titled Are We Living in the Last Days? On Monday we shared another called: Living with Hope When the Church Says It’s Only Going to Get Worse.

Our intention in doing these episodes was to present another biblical perspective on the end times that many have not heard about because we have never been taught anything different.

To clarify, there are 3 basic views on end times: Premillennialism (which is what almost all of us have been taught exclusively or simply watched the "Left Behind" series) Amillennialism, and Postmillennialism.

Prior to about 100 years ago all three views were known to and held by the church and her theologians.

I think that is worth noting. This means that throughout all of church history, believers were knowledgeable about all three perspectives. Only in the last 100 years has Premillennialism been so widely embraced. I don’t know about you, but that alone gives me a reason to pause.

Today we are answering questions that arose from our previous discussions by sharing the Postmillennialism perspective on Revelation, the Mark of the Beast, and the Anti-Christ. This will wrap up this three-part series on this topic.
