EPISODE 90 - 2020 STADIUM STAMPEDE MATCH

Épisode 90

mercredi 24 mai 2023Durée 01:38:32

The year is 2020 and the global pandemic is in its early stages, leaving pro wrestling as the only game in town as the world shut down. This allowed wrestling to use their creative freedom to try new things, which created the cinematic match and AEW's first go at a cinematic was at the second ever Double or Nothing PPV, which saw the Elite with Matt Hardy taking on the Inner Circle waging war in the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars , the TIAA Bank Field.

Close Personal Friends BSJ and Y0ungist (@y0ungist) join the show to watch the Stadium Stampede match, play a round of Shoot or Kayfabe, talk about the need for more set piece wrestling, and Vince McMahon's new look. You can support Grumm and The Dork Side of the Ring Podcast:

EPISODE 89 - TNA DRINKING CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES | James Storm vs Eric Young

Épisode 90

lundi 15 mai 2023Durée 01:07:48

The year is 2008 and wrestling is chugging along to the beat of its own drum in many places. WWE is fully into the Cena Era, complete with an overhaul of the WWE title to a more commercialized and controversial design while TNA continued to grow despite some of its story telling being questionable quality. One such story saw TNA make a mockery of the new WWE logo by buying a toy replica and putting a beer bottle on the spinner and dubbing it the TNA World Drinking Championship, a title that became the most sought after prize for two wrestlers: Eric Young and James Storm. Ryan Nanni of the Shutdown Fullcast (@celebrityhottub) and Close Personal Friend WackHumanBeing (@wackhumanbeing) join the podcast to break down the Drinking Championship Series, watch James Storm and Eric Young fight over the World Drinking Championship, talk about memories of teh BCS, and Wack's ongoing battle to have Philadelphia be declared apart of New Jersey You can support Grumm and The Dork Side of the Ring Podcast:- Twitter: @IAmGrumm and @DorkSideRing- Instagram: IAmGrumm and DorkSideRing- Youtube: TGrumm on Youtube or Dork Side on Youtube- Discord: grumm.tv- Patreon: support.grumm.tv

Episode 80 - Fish Market Street Fight Match

Épisode 80

lundi 6 mars 2023Durée 02:11:56

The year is 2008 and wrestling is about to hit its peak in terms of brutal watching, but not quite there yet. As the end of the decade approaches, WWE was firmly cemented as teh top company in America, leaving the independents wide open, but in between was TNA, who in 6 years became arguably the top alternative to WWE. Led by a blend of realistic storylines, booking out of 1983 Memphis, and a wacky cast of characters, TNA had distinguished itself from WWE. Especially when you had a storyline of a hall of fame tag team trying to make weight as they went against some of the X-Division's most out there tag team: Shark Boy, full on Stone Cold parody, and Curry Man.

Twitch.tv's Jhonner1223 (@Jhonner5) and Close personal Friend Chet Ripley come on to watch the podcast, talk about parodies, Tropic Thunder and so much more.

Episode 79 - Brutus The Barber Beefcake

Épisode 79

lundi 27 février 2023Durée 02:25:08

The year is 1987 and it is possibly the biggest Wrestlemania of all time: Wrestlemania 3, the show that featured one of the greatest Wrestlemania matches ever between Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat and one of the most hyped Wrestlemania Main Events of all time between Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant. A history making night for sure, but underneath that history is a little more as Brutus Beefcake picked up the clippers and became The Barber.

Join ThatDuffGuyPat (@ThatDuffGuyPat) and Squidge aka TheAtomicBear (@SquidgeVT) as they watch Brutus' moment from Wrestlemania 3 and his match against Mr. Perfect at Wrestlemania 6, talk about haircuts, Dragon Ball Z Abridged, and play another round of Shoot or Kayfabe

Episode 77 - Fake Razor and Fake Diesel

Épisode 78

lundi 13 février 2023Durée 01:51:24

The year is 1996 and WWE is trailing behind WCW, fueled by their mid-year acquisitions of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash and their involvement with the nWo. While it would be a good year and some change before WWE would have their own fired up acts like Stone Cold Steve Austin and DX, WCW ran away with the wrestling business, something no one has done before, or since for that matter. Not one to lay down and roll over when it comes to the wrestling business, Vince McMahon, with advice from ace scum lawyer Jerry McDevitt, sought to disrupt WCW's success in a lawsuit claiming WCW was using WWE's IP in Razor Ramon and Diesel whenever Scott Hall and Kevin Nash would appear on TV. Normally this would have just been a silly lawsuit, except in an effort to prove it, WWE announced the returns of Razor and Diesel in the fall of 1996, only to only deliver in name only.

Twitch.tv's Shay (@imaShayWoods) and TVMBLE (@tvmblez) return to the podcast to watch the debuts of "Razor Ramon" and "Diesel", watch them challenge the British Bulldog and Owen Hart for the tag team titles, discuss Criss Angel being a magical cuck, and talk about the time Shay and TVMBLE switched places at a convention in 2019. All that and more on a wild episode!

Episode 76 - 2012 Miracle On 34th Street Fight Match

Épisode 76

lundi 6 février 2023Durée 01:59:19

The year is 2012 and stagnant is one way to describe wrestling in America. WWE has fully established its international dominance and TNA has failed to compete with the juggernaut and drove away its fans. While stagnant, there is still room for wrestling to be its silliest it can be, especially around the holidays. Fans are treated to holiday discounts on merch, cheaper live event tickets, and more, but on Christmas Eve 2012, they were treated to a live appearance from Ol' Saint Nick himself, Santa Claus on Monday Night RAW. Santa came bearing gifts for all the good little boys and girls when suddenly Alberto Del Rio levels him with one of his many fancy cars. As punishment, Santa's potential last words were for Alberto to face John Cena in a Miracle on 34th Street Fight match.

Join Twitch.tv's Mopgarden (@Mopgarden) and Sirenn (@iamlynndewitt) as they watch the holiday showdown between Cena and Del Rio, talk about their childhood memories of meeting Santa, the best Christmas song "Dominick The Donkey", and how Sirenn plans to end the reign of Santa Claus.

Episode 75 - Booker T Goes Grocery Shoppin'

Épisode 75

lundi 5 décembre 2022Durée 02:04:03

The year is 2001 and the WCW Invasion is over in the WWF, and the wrestlers who once called WCW home have begun to assimilate to their new company and even some have finally made the move to WWF, like Ric Flair, who found himself back in the WWF for the first time since 1993. With Flair taking up the role as co-owner, he looked to make Vince McMahon's life as frustrating as possible, and that unfortunately included Vince's new best friend, Booker T. As Vince and Booker looked to make life equally as frustrating as possible for "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Flair found a way to really turn up the antics by aiding Stone Cold by clearing as many obstacles as possible, and he did that one fateful Smackdown

CPF's Baylyn (@ASAPkaylyn) and X join the show to talk about the December 13th, 2001 episode of Smackdown and follow the events that led to Booker T hiding from Stone Cold in a grocery store and the ensuing brawl between the two rivals. They also talk about their grocery store routine, Vince McMahon's ongoing war against our senses, the time Grumm's house almost caught fire, and Ric Flair's audition to be Mr. Rogers

Episode 74 - Chuck Norris, Special Troubleshooting Referee

Épisode 74

lundi 28 novembre 2022Durée 01:42:25

The year is is 1994 and wrestling is down bad. WCW has gone out and gotten Hulk Hogan to help save the company and the WWF has asked nearly every celebrity in the 90s to come in and be a part of their biggest shows. From Burt Reynolds and Donnie Wahlburg to Leslie Nielsen, the biggest shows of the year for the federation had celebrities involved in some of the biggest matches, but no celebrity was more involved than Chuck Norris, who would find himself as the Special Troubleshooting Referee for the main event of Survivor Series 1994, a rematch from the 1994 Royal Rumble as The Undertaker and Yokozuna would face off again in another casket match.

Twitch streamers Bennyfits (@BennyFitsTV) and MetricSeconds (@MetricSeconds) join to watch the match between The Undertaker and Yokozuna, Chuck Norris stop giants King Kong Bundy and Bam Bam Bigelow in their tracks, hear Grumm's latest idea of getting partnered on twitch, and talk about the beauty of true wrestling gimmicks.
