Are you tired of dog training advice that gives you one more thing to try but still leaves you wondering what you're missing?
If you've followed the advice, learned everything you can, and still can't figure out what actually makes sense for the dog in front of you, this podcast is for you.
Named Sniffspot's #1 Dog Training Podcast in 2026 and ranked in the top 3% of podcasts globally. This is the dog community for people who love their dogs deeply and want to understand them without feeling like there's always another problem they need to fix.
I'm Em. Former vet tech, dog trainer, and canine nutritionist. I went looking for a dog community that actually understood how complicated life with dogs can be and kept finding gatekeeping, judgment, and people who'd decided their way was the only way. So I built the space I couldn't find.
Listen, and you'll learn how to:
- Better understand the dog in front of you instead of chasing one-size-fits-all advice
- Use what you already know and get curious about what you might be missing
- Start trusting the decisions you make and adjust when your dog gives you new information
- Look at the whole dog through training, behavior, nutrition, enrichment, health, and environment
- Feel less alone in the grief, burnout, uncertainty, and messy parts of life with dogs
Solo episodes, guest conversations, and real stories covering dog training, dog behavior, dog reactivity, dog nutrition, dog enrichment, dog health, dog body language, pet loss, senior dogs, and the parts of life with dogs no one really prepares you for.

When to Stop Playing, Even When Your Dog Is Asking for More
Épisode 252
vendredi 2 octobre 2026 • Durée 05:01
You gave your dog the walk, the fetch, the training, and somehow you're the only one ready to collapse.
When a full day of trying to meet your dog's needs leaves you with even more chaos, it's easy to assume you still haven't done enough. But before you add one more round of anything, there may be something important you're missing.
You'll hear:
Why a dog asking for more doesn't always mean they need more
How Em got stuck in the same cycle with Fitz, even when she knew better
What to change during the day when piling on more activity isn't helping
Press play if you're exhausted from trying to wear your dog out and wondering how they could possibly still have energy left.

How Dog Products Change When Brands Actually Listen to Pet Parents
Épisode 251
mercredi 30 septembre 2026 • Durée 11:31
Buying something for your dog is easy. Knowing whether it’s actually worth your money is the harder part.
Some of the most useful details about a product never become the headline on the package. At SuperZoo, I talked with the people behind a wide range of dog brands about what they’ve learned after their products reached real customers, including the feedback that changed what they make and the features people often don’t discover until after they buy.
You'll hear:
How feedback from dog parents has influenced products that are on shelves today
Overlooked features and unexpected uses that could make products you already buy more useful
What brand founders and representatives think dog parents should understand before choosing where to spend their money
Press play if you want to hear what dog brands wish you knew before their products ended up in your cart.

Why Doubting the Life You Built Around Your Dog Doesn’t Mean You Got It Wrong
Épisode 250
lundi 28 septembre 2026 • Durée 04:58
Building your life around your dog can feel completely right and still leave room for the question you don’t always want to ask: Did I make the right call?
Big decisions rarely come with proof that everything is going to work out. When your work, finances, routines, and future have all been shaped by the dog beside you, even seeing those choices pay off doesn’t always make the uncertainty disappear.
You'll hear:
Why loving the life you built doesn’t automatically stop you from questioning the decisions that got you there
What happened when the parts of my life I was most afraid to rely on became the things that carried me through
Why uncertainty doesn’t necessarily mean you chose wrong, even when there’s no guarantee about what happens next
Press play if your dog has changed the direction of your life and you still sometimes wonder if you got it right.

You did the long walk. You played fetch until your arm gave out. And somehow your dog is still pacing around the house like the day just started.
“Tire them out” sounds like good advice when your dog has endless energy, but more activity doesn’t always lead to a calmer dog. Sometimes the thing you’re doing to wear them out is actually winding them up even more, leaving you exhausted and your dog still unable to settle.
You'll hear:
Why doing more exercise and activity can leave your dog more wired instead of more tired
How the type of activity you choose can change what happens after the game, walk, or play session ends
What I had to change with Fitz when throwing the ball longer and doing more wasn’t getting us any closer to calm
Press play if you keep trying to tire your dog out and can’t figure out why they still won’t settle.

What Pet Creators See Behind the Scenes That Pet Parents Don’t
Épisode 248
mercredi 23 septembre 2026 • Durée 07:44
The creators you trust the most have opinions about this industry they don't usually put in a caption.
At Superzoo in August, instead of collecting swag and taking panel photos, three questions got asked to creator after creator, not the polished, brand-deal-ready answers you see on Instagram, but the real ones. What brand would they actually recommend if nobody was paying them to say it. What myth about training, nutrition, or behavior got busted for them personally. And what's happening behind the scenes in this industry that never makes it into a caption. Nobody had to be honest. They could have given the pitch. They didn't.
You'll hear:
The specific brands and products creators actually stand behind, the ones they'd recommend even without a partnership attached
The training, nutrition, and behavior myths that got busted for people who work in this space every day, and what changed their minds
What multiple creators admitted about this being a business first, even when the content doesn't feel like one
Press play if you've ever scrolled through dog content wondering which recommendations were real and which ones were paid for.

How Task Training at Home Can Give You the Wrong Idea About Service Dog Potential
Épisode 247
lundi 21 septembre 2026 • Durée 04:57
Your dog can learn the tasks perfectly at home and still not be capable of doing the job of a service dog.
I wanted Fitz to be a service dog badly enough to train him myself. He learned real tasks, including retrieval, deep pressure therapy, and migraine alerts. At home, he was good at them. Then we went out in public, and the dog I hoped he could become collided with the dog actually standing in front of me. Because learning the tasks is only one part of what a service dog has to be able to do.
You'll hear:
Why a dog can successfully learn service dog tasks at home and still struggle with what the job requires in public
What happened when I had to separate what I needed Fitz to become from what he was actually capable of
Why changing the plan doesn't mean the training was wasted or that your dog failed
Press play if you've ever looked at your dog and wondered if they could become a service dog, or had to accept that what you hoped they could do wasn't what they were actually capable of.

What You Gain When You Stop Chasing the Life Everyone Else Expects for Your Dog | Dog Training
Épisode 246
vendredi 18 septembre 2026 • Durée 04:52
There's a version of your life with this dog that you pictured a while back. It doesn't look anything like the one you're actually living now, and somehow that's become other people's business.
At some point you stopped going to the places that used to be part of every week together, without ever deciding it in one clear moment. You just noticed what actually worked for your dog and kept doing that instead. People who only see the outside of it tend to have an opinion either way, and it rarely matches what building this actually took. You can be completely at peace with how you live now and still catch yourself defending it anyway.
You'll hear:
The surprising reason a dog can be perfectly fine with strangers but bark at the people he already knows, and what that has to do with his past
The two contradicting comments that show up no matter which way you go, and why neither one is actually about your dog
The moment that turns "I gave something up" into "I built something that fits," and how to tell which one you're actually standing in
Press play if you've ever had to explain a life that makes complete sense to you and to no one else in the room.

Why Speaking Up Matters When Someone Invades Your Dog’s Personal Space | Dog Body Language
Épisode 245
mercredi 16 septembre 2026 • Durée 05:11
You've said it out loud before anyone's hand even moves. Somehow you're still the one bracing for what happens next.
Most people don't think there's anything to ask permission for when a dog looks friendly enough to grab, so the asking never happens. You end up being the one who has to say something, again, with every new person who doesn't bother to check first. You can be completely right about what your dog needs and still feel your shoulders tense the moment a stranger walks through the door.
You'll hear:
The night a guest was told plainly to leave a dog alone, ignored it, and what that dog did in response
The quiet signals a nervous dog gives off long before anyone notices, the kind that get missed in a room full of people
Why you don't have to defend your dog's limits to a new person every single time, and the shift that finally made that stick
Press play if you've ever stood there weighing whether to speak up, already knowing exactly how it would go if you didn't.

Why More Research Is Making Your Dog Product Decisions Harder | Dog Products
Épisode 244
lundi 14 septembre 2026 • Durée 04:46
Somewhere in your house right now is a supplement you bought after one comment section convinced you it mattered, sitting next to a bag of food you're not sure you'll finish before switching again.
Caring about your dog's food, training, and health doesn't come with an answer key, and the more you research, the less certain you often feel, not because you're getting something wrong, but because every product comes with a comment section arguing both sides. This isn't about being disorganized or indecisive. It's what happens when you love something that can't tell you in words whether you got it right.
You'll hear:
Why researching more about your dog's food or training can leave you feeling less confident instead of more
The real reason behind constantly switching dog food, and why it usually has nothing to do with the food itself
What changes when you stop trying to carry every decision about your dog alone
Press play if you've got an abandoned cart of dog products right now and need to hear that caring this much was never the problem.

How to See Progress When Your Dog Is Still Reacting | Dog Training
Épisode 243
vendredi 11 septembre 2026 • Durée 05:09
You scroll past the before and after videos, the dog who used to lunge, now walking calmly on a loose leash, the caption that says six months. Then you look at your own dog, who's been in it for a year, two years, more, and still reacts to the exact same thing they reacted to on day one.
Nobody posts the middle. They post the before and they post the after, and the eighteen months in between where nothing looked like it was working never makes it into the caption. So you start doing the math on what that says about you, whether you're not consistent enough, whether you missed something, whether your dog is ever going to get there. But you're not just teaching your dog something new. You're undoing something that's already there, and undoing takes longer than starting from nothing, every single time.
You'll hear:
Why doing everything right, working with a trainer, staying consistent, showing up every day, can still look exactly like day one for a long time
What actually changed once progress stopped being measured by whether the reaction still happened at all
The small, easy to miss signs that things are working, the ones that never make it into anyone's caption
Press play if you've ever watched someone else's after and felt like proof you were still stuck at zero.
