Holy Smokes it’s episode 80 already! Yay! Episode 80 is a pretty cool milestone. It’s nowhere near as many as a lot of our contemporary podcasts, but it’s also nothing to slouch at. Our guest this week is the delightful, the talented, the bottom-feeding media’s current punching bag, Taryn Manning!!! You heard me right, Taryn Manning. No she’s not a typical DOD45 guest, if there is such a thing, but we linked up with Taryn many months back due to her appearance in Atmosphere’s Okay music video and we’ve been planning to hang with her on the show since then. Who knew she was gonna break the internet with her comments about ‘Gold Juice’ on the Whitney Cummings podcast and who knew she was gonna get caught up in some “very interesting” Instagram drama….not us and certainly not her. But here’s what can be said in this intro, if you’re lookin’ to Troll this episode, by all means, but ya better watch the whole damn episode before you cherry pick. I don’t think you’re gonna have much to troll anyway, because Taryn is an absolute delight and we have an excellent discussion with her, while I draw her a Rhino gettin’ his revenge against the man. He’s an underground rapper of the Machina Muerte family and the other half of one of my current favorites, A7PHA….a group that I’m willing to call a Super-Duo, of which Mestizo shares emcee duties with the legendary Doseone. We have a nice chill conversation with 'Stizo, talking’ bout A7PHA’s recent release, entitled Many Headed, (a brilliant EP). We also briefly chat about his coming from a long lineage of gangsters, including a gangsta grandma and he tells us a chilling experience he personally had with the spirit world. We also learn that Mestizo has a huge collection of quote, unquote “old-man” clothes and he tells the tale of a time he was on tour with Mopes and he told a Texas patrolman that they were a christian rap group that did rap for Christ to avoid getting a ticket. We have the utmost respect for anyone who has aligned themselves with our show, ostensibly leading into discussions of the deftness of Doseone and how lucky we all are, as listeners, to have the return of A7PHA. You’re never gonna guess who we’re chattin’ with for this episode 73 of The DOD45 Show. When I say never, I mean never….I’ll end the suspense. Our guests this week are James Warren Jones aka The Reverend Jim Jones of the Peoples Temple and the controversially titled artist Edward Theodore Gein aka The Butcher of Plainfield…Say What? That’s gonna make for a dumpster fire of an episode. But in actuality, our guests this week are the dubiously mental Mr. Dibbs & his comrade in innovative musical experiences, Brett Fullerton, together known as INIM E.G. A secretive, but no so complex, moniker for their union. Come to think of it, with the revelation of the actual guests, there's still potential for a dumpster fire. You’re gonna find out. We recorded this discussion the day before Halloween, so in the spirit of the holiday, Dibbs and Fullerton turned up in full garb. On this episode I draw Mr. Dibbs a long anticipated concept of his, which none of his other artist homies were willing to touch, The fabulous Sir Elton John Wayne Gacy. When conversing with a mass murderer & a serial killer, it seemed to be the appropriate time to tackle a concept like this. As far as what to expect from this episode content-wise, it’s anybody’s guess. What I can tell you is that Sage Francis pops in for his Sage’s Social Media Lurk to question Dibbs about the infamous moment that Dibbs recorded himself smuggling a razor onto an airplane under his tongue. And mysteriously we have 2 different people claiming to be Mr. Dibbs, calling in with a question for the Question From Dibbs segment. We always have a great time hanging with these 2, and it’s not nonsense, our purpose is to also promote the 2nd 7” record of the 3 part series that I’ve done the cover art for. Limited presales of this album, of which I cannot pronounce the name of, are now being taken. I’ve had the pleasure of hearing it and it’s as you’d expect. Pure fire. And if I’m being honest, I’m quite happy with how the artwork turned out for the cover. Each album also comes with the 2nd limited edition print that lines up with the print from album 1 and they’ll unite with the 3rd 7” record when it comes out. Like some Voltron shit right there. This is another fun one.
