mardi 21 juin 2022Durée 58:17

Burden of the Sky is an Alternative Metal band hailing from Bloomington, IL. Formed in 2012 by Josh Appel and the late Brad Shaw, the band has built itself as one of the most well-known bands in the Midwest. Led by Lead Singer Scottie James and Guitarist Josh Appel, the band has performed across the Midwest and beyond with many of today’s hottest Active Rock bands. With a lineup rounded out by Drummer Rick Streeter, Bassist Dustin Tritsch, Guitarist and Backing Vocalist Austin Smith, and Keyboardist Mike Mahoney, “BOTS” regularly leaves fans begging for more once they leave the stage.

Having hit the stage with acts such as Sevendust, A Day To Remember, I Prevail, Buckcherry, Asking Alexandria and more, the band continues to show they belong on the big stage. Their debut album, “Cinis Ad Cinis”, featured the single “Same Old Page”, which has amassed millions of streams since its 2017 release. Sophomore album “Sine Timore” was led by “Sirens”, which was featured on many top Spotify playlists. #396: Coming in from Toronto, Canada: The Reed Effect!

vendredi 10 juin 2022Durée 01:04:46

Coming in once again from Toronto, Canada: The Reed Effect bends, beguiles, and rocks with "Trampled Under" - their next full-force single/video from their album 1973.

With Lead Vocalist/Guitarist Kirk Reed continuing to honor the memory of his late brother, Chris Reed (bass/backing vocals), The Reed Effect has carried forward their mission to feed the hungry ears of the music masses worldwide. "Trampled Under" is the foundational track upon which their album 1973 that has been solidly built.

WATCH -- PREVIOUS RELEASES FROM THEIR ALBUM 1973 - "Rise Up" and "Fine Here"

"Trampled Under" is arguably the strongest track from this album. It definitely stands out as it's the darkest and most emotional. All the other tracks are rockers. Also, the song was all developed around Chris's unique bass line. I remember Chris, Bryan Fontez, and I spent the better part of a day just working out the main riff until we were happy with it. We feel it reached its highest potential."' - Kirk Reed

2020 was a hard year for all of us and The Reed Effect has definitely felt that pain. Chris Reed, bassist, vocalist, bandmate, friend, and brother tragically took his own life on October 10th, 2020, just as the new music was about to be released. Being very close, Chris's death hit Kirk hard. But Kirk feels it is important to let the world hear this music - not just as a tribute to Chris and his legacy, but as a celebration of their collaboration and brotherly love.

#387: "Awake At Last" release new single and announce tour!

dimanche 15 mai 2022Durée 01:06:24

Awake at Last released their new single titled "Bloodline" to all digital outlets!

"Bloodline" is available at:

WATCH Awake At Last - Bloodline (Official Music Video):

https://youtu.be/PQkx1uZch3Q

Awake At Last returned with a new single "Bloodline" on April 29th. Produced by Erik Ron (Godsmack, Black Veil Brides, I Prevail), the hard-hitting track contains plenty of angst at the current state of the world. “Bloodline is written from a perspective of frustration, and a reluctance to accept the current state we all live in. The song questions the media, and how during such a dark time people seemed to be more divided than ever, rather than come together. It asks the question of whether or not we can learn from history, or if we are doomed to repeat it. I wanted it to connect to the listeners who couldn’t help but worry about what is going to happen next and whether or not we can rely on the current state of media and information to be prepared for it.” - says the band's vocalist, Vincent Torres.

#300: Athens-based metal outfit W.E.B.

samedi 13 novembre 2021Durée 57:37

Forged in 2002 out of a “necessity to scream, blast, and create emotions and get on stage to exchange them with an audience,” Greece’s W.E.B. have steadily forged a path to becoming one of the premier European symphonic extreme metal bands expressing darkness and death through adrenaline and poetry. An output that’s both candid and theatrical, W.E.B.is here to move you, provoke you, and invite you on a journey through raven dark and starless nights. With four albums already under their collective belt, 2021’s fifth full-length, Colosseum, is inarguably the band’s greatest and most direct work to date.

“We wanted this album to be as straightforward as we could make it. We wanted it to be aggressive and to the point, and at the same time we have pushed literally everything, higher, faster, louder, harder. It is our most metal album,” states guitarist/vocalist Sakis Prekas.

With Colosseum, the band welcomes two new members: drummer Nikitas Mandolas, who joined following the recording of 2017’s Tartarus and whose playing is perfectly suited to the music W.E.B. make, and bassist/vocalist Hel Pyre. “Apart from the great lyrics and the perfect bass performance, she offered her brutal and clean vocals on many parts of the album, leaving her own mark of fire. This is a completely new element for W.E.B. that really gave a unique character to the material.”

With the lineup solidified, writing commenced in early 2019, sending ideas back and forth to one another, subsequently honing each song over many pre-production sessions. “With no references, when we make music, our only thoughts are that we want to make it sound as awesome as we can,” states Sakis. The dramatic orchestrations are of course a large part of that, with Christos Antoniou of Septicflesh handling this aspect of the sound as he has on previous W.E.B. releases. “Metal is the most revolutionary music genre ever to exist; adding to it symphonic orchestra makes the experience even more epic and emotional in a massive way. We want our music to inspire the senses, thus we aspire to make it intense from our perspective.”

In titling the record Colosseum, W.E.B. draw comparisons with the past and present, in typically brutal style. “The Colosseum was the famous gigantic arena in Rome to give the people ‘food and spectacle,’ whereas what it truly did was to quench the mob’s thirst for blood and violence and keep their minds away from thinking; kind of an ancient TV-brainwash machine,” notes Sakis. “People nowadays seem to be thirsty for blood more than ever. They seek violence in almost everything. You can see it in social media, in the streets – even a simple fight between kids in a schoolyard attracts the other kids, not to separate but to watch. Humans miss the Colosseum and what it gave to their violent nature, even though they will never admit it. The title Colosseum is the irony of giving them what they secretly desire. Maybe then they will start to understand what they see in their mirror and hopefully it will bother them.”

#299: The Fury that is Death Metal Band, "Genocide Pact"

vendredi 12 novembre 2021Durée 01:00:59

GENOCIDE PACT returns with their eponymous new full-length, set for release December 3rd via Relapse Records. An overdose of gut-wrenching death metal, Genocide Pact is heavy, engrossing, and undoubtedly brutal.

“This album reflects on the feeling of watching the world crumble while dealing with personal tragedy,” says guitarist/vocalist Tim Mullaney. True to his word, every track on Genocide Pact is a sonic assault brimming with palpable malaise. From the guttural screams in the album’s opener “Led To Extinction,” to the driving double bass that carries “Perverse Dominion,” and a head rattling low end on “Deprive Degrade,” Genocide Pact is wholly negative death metal.

The fury behind Genocide Pact captures the band’s collective frustrations and personal journeys through these turbulent times. “You turn on the news and see mass shootings, a global pandemic, endless war, and corporations and politicians trying to sell you bullshit,” says Mullaney. “You pick up your phone and another friend or family member has died. On top of that, you’re broke as fuck and work endlessly for a boss that doesn’t even know your name. You find yourself paranoid, pissed off, and embracing nihilism.”

GENOCIDE PACT has learned to embrace the negativity, churning out one of 2021’s ugliest and unforgiving records.

Genocide Pact will be released on CD, LP and digital formats. Find physical preorders HERE and digital downloads / streaming services HERE.

The industrial outfit will bring their “pummeling beats, frantic guitars, and snarling vocals that make you want to get up and break something” (Genre Is Dead) to the stage at Welcome To Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, FL on Thursday, November 11 alongside headliners Slipknot, Gojira and Cypress Hill.

vendredi 5 novembre 2021Durée 52:10

Melbourne-based ambient dream folk alchemist PLUM GREEN has released her latest video for “Moon Of Honey.” Now playing at New Noise Magazine, the track comes off her captivating Somnambulistic full-length, released last month via Nefarious Industries!

Somnambulistic is a stirring collection of dark lullabies. Each of its nine tracks ebb and flow with otherworldly grace manifesting one pulsing dream narrative. Guided by guitar, GREEN’s voice travels through walls of bowed soundscapes. This is a great effort from PLUM GREEN to create a sound space of dark beauty,” writes Distorted Sound, adding, “Somnambulistic has such a wealth of quiet, powerful moments that really feel like you’re being steered through a dream of a strange and gorgeous place by a guide who has a tender care for the smaller places, both inner and outer body.” Observes Moshpit Nation, “Somnambulistic is for anyone who appreciates great songwriting or music which hits the rare mark of being both ethereal and wholly engaging. A sprawling, inescapable black and white watercolor, this is an album which will beguile you and send you willfully stumbling into its twisting arms.”
