Tujague's in the French Quarter was established 1856 by French immigrants, Guillaume and Marie Abadie Tujague. It is New Orleans' second oldest restaurant with one of the oldest standup bars in America. It's where the Grasshopper cocktail and Bourbon Milk Punch were invented. Thorn-Clarke represents the union of two families and six generations of grape growing in Australia’s Barossa valley. The Thorn family were some of the earliest settlers in the region and have been growing grapes since the 1870s. Their first bottled vintage was a 1998 Shiraz. The Counts Capponi family has made wine in Greve-in-Chianti in the center of Chianti Classico, since 1524 and started bottling in 1950s. Conte Sebastiano Capponi and his brother, Niccolò, took over estate management in 1992. Since 2014 the vineyards have been certified organic with 75 acres planted, including a few rarer varieties. The widow of its namesake settler, Johannes Tesselaar, left his farmland to his freed slaves upon his death in 1810, a bold move at the time. While studying in Italy as a college student, Paula Lambert first tasted local handmade mozzarella. The experience was an "Aha!" moment for the young Texan. She decided to apprentice with an Italian cheesemaker to learn the process, and established a production facility in Dallas, opening in 1982. Texas chefs appreciated the handmade cheeses and serve them at their restaurants, and Paula's business took off. Today, Mozzarella Company produced 100,000 pounds of handmade cheeses sold nationwide.
