E29 Yoga master Subhan Nair - On relationships, ego and the power of Classical Hatha Yoga

Saison 2 · Épisode 6

mercredi 6 novembre 2024Durée 46:06

Join yoga master Subhan Nair as he reveals the secrets to a life-changing Hatha Yoga practice. Learn how to transform your relationships and connect with your inner self in this enlightening episode!

How will classical hatha yoga change your life and relationships? Subhan is globally one of the most experienced Isha Hatha Yoga teachers and has been involved with Sadhguru and the Isha Foundation since 2006.

He completed his Isha Hatha Yoga training in 2013 which is 1750 hour course and attends further training every year to maintain the quality of his offering. After taking the first Isha Yoga course in the UK directly with Sadhguru (Founder of Isha Hatha Yoga), his perception of yoga, as well as his perception of life, completely changed.

He started living life with a different intensity and freedom which transformed his experience of life and further led him on a journey to learn more. This journey has led him to places like in India and the Tibetan Himalayas. He spent much time living at the Isha Yoga Centre (Sadhguru’s ashram in India) deepening his spiritual journey.

He spent a lot of time volunteering alongside some of the most senior teachers and monks in the Isha Foundation, developing his spiritual growth and experience. After completing this teacher training and initially teaching many classes on behalf of the Isha Foundation, Subhan created The Hatha Yoga Effect as a medium to communicate the true impact of Classical Hatha Yoga and create a different message for Yoga than the one that exists mainstream. He has gone on to teach many high-profile clients as well as in some of the most prestigious and iconic places.

This includes the House of Commons and on stage at the OM Yoga show as well as the official International Day of Yoga events at Trafalgar Square and Tower Bridge.

E28 - Prof. Stephen Scott, CBE - All about parenting - differences in children, psychology and parenting techniques

Saison 2 · Épisode 5

lundi 28 octobre 2024Durée 44:12

Blockbuster interview! This week I was honoured to interview Prof. Stephen Scott, CBE – on everything you ever needed to know about parenting. In my own book ‘Single, and too tired to mingle’, I write and research parenting quite extensively – and my chat with Stephen will hopefully help any parent struggling with their offspring.

Prof. Stephen Scott is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. That means he is trained as a medical doctor (not a clinical psychologist) who specialises in assessing and treating the mental health and wellbeing of children and teenagers. Prof. Scott’s Teaching Hospital Consultant Appointment is at the Maudsley Hospital, London; He is also Professor of Child Health and Behaviour at Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London.

The Maudsley Hospital and the Institute of Psychiatry are closely interlinked and combine to form perhaps the leading centre in Europe for the understanding and treatment of psychiatric and psychological problems. Stephen Scott has always been interested in both the physical and mental aspects of children and families.

After a full degree in Psychology, he trained in medicine at the Royal London Hospital and Cambridge University, where he won a science prize and the psychiatry prize. He then worked as a Paediatrician for five years at a number of hospitals, including the Royal Brompton and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

Having got a good understanding of children’s medical problems, prof. Scott decided to widen his expertise by training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital, including four years as clinical lecturer with Professor Sir Michael Rutter FRS and Professor Eric Taylor.

Prof. Scott is the author of the leading introductory textbook Child Psychiatry, (published by Blackwell, with Professor Robert Goodman, 3rd edition 2012). He also publishes scholarly articles on the findings of his research on how best to treat children.

Rachel Seymour works with people on a wide variety of issues: she sees couples who want to work on improving communication in their relationship; she sees individuals who are struggling to identify what they want sexually; she sees people who want a space to process their feelings more generally. Rachel works in an integrative way. This means she pulls from a variety of different therapeutic models, including humanistic, person-centred and existential. She also works through a GSRD lens - for example, Rachel believes that everyone (regardless of relationship style) can benefit from the skills developed through polyamory (for example communication).
