Steven O'Neill and myself get to the meat and potatoes of why he's on the show today and that's to defend himself against the attacks brought forward by Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba and his media henchman Othor Cain calling him a racist and insinuating that he's in the KKK for having the audacity to question Lumumba and suggest that he is accountable for the chaos that happened at the st. paddy parade.

Steven tells us his history and connection with the city of Jackson as we build a foundation to explain how crazy it is for the Mayor & Othor Cain to attack him for speaking out and supporting another candidate.

2- A Disgraced former MHP trooper seems to have a hard time keeping my name out of her mouth and using my image for clicks on her social media (which is funny because other than having to discuss her firing I've always treated this person fairly), it's funny what people will do when they become desperate for attention. On a positive note I guess I've reached a level where this should be expected and not frowned upon, I just regret ever having her on my show or handling her firing with kid gloves instead of speaking on it how I truly felt. Lesson learned, never hold back and never take it easy on someone who wouldn't do the same for you.

3- AG Lynn Fitch has indicted several Capitol Police officers who had to shoot some bad guys in Jackson to defend themselves in what's clearly nothing more than a political stunt to pander to Democrats as she ramps up for a potential run at the Governors office in 2028. I will do everything in my power to prevent that from happening after what she's done to these officers.

As luck would have it, when you have the most popular morning talk show in the state of Mississippi there's a good chance that someone you're talking about might be listening to the show and that's exactly what happened this morning when a man who was featured in a viral video from over the weekend that showed him being arrested by Ridgeland Police for what looked to be nothing more than him cussing them out calls in to give a detailed account from his perspective. Jackson Mayor Chokwe Lumumba says he will seek re-election this year. He has until Friday at 5 p.m. to file the paperwork. That paperwork, though, could create additional evidence for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in its pending case against the embattled mayor. Lumumba could also find himself in hot water with state prosecutors and regulators.

Throw another dollar in the Clay was right again tip jar!   JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The state’s top fire inspector says Thalia Mara Hall can’t safely reopen, following a walkthrough of the facility one day before it was slated to reopen. On Thursday, the State Fire Marshal conducted a follow-up walkthrough of the 2,000-seat auditorium, months after it initially found 22 violations at the facility. “While some fire safety issues have been fixed other issues are still being addressed. For example, fire curtains have not been installed; maintenance and inspection paperwork was not available for the elevator and escalators; the fire alarm system is showing trouble and there’s no timeline on when it may be fixed; the sprinkler system needs to be inspected and tested; and fire suppression tools need to be properly tagged,” the office wrote.   “When the City of Jackson (COJ) has addressed these safety concerns another walkthrough will be scheduled. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is committed to working with City of Jackson officials to protect the health and safety of the public and important cultural structures like Thalia Mara Hall.”   The hall closed in August after microbial growth was found in the facility. Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said Thalia Mara was slated to reopen on Friday.   However, officials with Marshal Mike Chaney’s office say the report means the opening will be delayed again.   Jackson officials say they had not read the fire marshal’s report but will provide a statement once they review it and get feedback from contractors.

PEARL, Miss. (WLBT) - Over a dozen residents raised their concerns at a city of Pearl community meeting Friday night regarding the police department hiring former Richland Police Officer Jeremy Rast, who was fired last year for making “derogatory slurs” toward a Hispanic man.

Residents questioned whether he had learned from his mistakes and if residents could trust him in the line of duty.

The pushback stems from an incident last year on June 2 when Rast and other officers were responding to a domestic disturbance involving a gun.

Rast then had an interaction with Luis Rodriguez and others, which Rodriguez recorded.

That is when Rast made comments toward Rodriguez, like, “I will look for you every shift to try and arrest you,” and even “Go back to Mexico.”

These are the comments that residents brought up, questioning if they have to fear for themselves rather than trust those sworn to protect.

Chief McLendon answered those questions and concerns Friday night, standing by his decision to hire Rast after careful consideration. Chief McLendon also stated that Rast will go through more training before he returns to the line of duty.

The meeting then concluded with residents asking for another meeting to be set that would involve Rast so they could ask questions and raise their concerns directly with him.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Rankin County Rep. Fred Shanks has filed House Bill 1028 that would increase the penalties for statutory rape.

“Essentially, if there’s a child involved, 13 or younger, and the offender is 17 or older, it’s surgical castration,” explained Shanks.

It would be a new option for the judge in sentencing, and it would be in addition to their time in jail.

“I’m a father, and my daughter is 13, and you know it really hit home when this came up,” noted Shanks. “I think it’s the right thing to do. It sends a strong message. And to be honest, if you know this unfortunate event ever happened to my child, the least of their worries would be this bill.”

We asked more of you what you think of the proposal.

“I don’t have no problem with it,” said Karlos King. “Young children, innocent, pure, I don’t think it would be a problem with it.”

“I’m not opposed to it,” described Angela Jones. “I just think there needs to be some stipulation. I think if it’s a repeat pedophile, absolutely.”

“That 13-year-old or under has got to live with that for the rest of their lives,” noted Gayla Book, whose daughter was raped at 13. “There’s no getting out of it. You know, there’s no 10-year limit for them on whether they get to forget about it in 10 years.”

Several states have laws on the books allowing for chemical castration as a consequence of certain sex crimes. However, last year, Louisiana was the first to approve surgical castration.

Rep. Shanks is hoping it will clear the committee and be brought up for a vote by the full House of Representatives.

“I’d be very curious as to who would vote no on it on the House floor,” he added.
