Helping Kids Overcome a Fear of Needles and Health Procedures with Dr. Jody Thomas, Episode #95
Saison 1 · Épisode 95
mercredi 28 août 2024 • Durée 37:49
In this episode, Dr Jody Thomas explores how parents can create good health care experiences for their kids from the very start by empowering children with solid coping skills to help them manage the pain and distress of early pain experiences.
From vaccinations to the usual bumps and bruises to the 25% of kids who experience chronic pain, the research demonstrates that those early experiences have a massive impact on their health outcomes into adulthood. The great news is there are simple and effective things parents can do to set themselves and their little ones up for success. In this podcast, we look specifically at helping children through a fear of needles.
Dr. Jody Thomas is a clinical psychologist and internationally recognized expert in pain and pediatric health. She is also the CEO and founder of the Meg Foundation. Jean Linscott, Ph.D., a clinical child psychologist, and husband Kenneth Ruoff, Ph.D are the co-authors of the newly released book "What is the Goal: The Truth About the Youth Sports Industry".

Solving the ADHD Riddle with Dr Connie McReynolds, Episode #84
Saison 1 · Épisode 84
mercredi 12 juin 2024 • Durée 34:09
Today, we interview Dr. Connie McReynolds, author of the groundbreaking book "Solving the ADHD Riddle." Beyond traditional methods, Dr. McReynolds advocates for innovative interventions that address the root causes of learning and behavioral challenges rather than just the symptoms. Her work in neurofeedback is a testament to the effectiveness of such alternative approaches. She also illuminates the often-overlooked auditory and visual processing issues underlying learning difficulties. Dr. McReynolds explains how these challenges are not related to the ability to hear or see but to how the brain processes information, which can significantly impact attention and learning. Her approach offers hope and improved quality of life for those affected by ADHD, as evidenced by her research and publications.

Parental Loss & Trauma and How it Impacts our Parenting with Christina Rasmussen, Episode #80
Saison 1 · Épisode 80
mercredi 15 mai 2024 • Durée 41:03
In this touching podcast Christina Rasmussen, author and grief specialist, beautfully reframes how adversity in our childhood creates a form of "grief" that we carry into our parenting experiences. This grief can lead parents to stifling their children's self-expression and ultimately to disconnection from their children and themselves. Christina has a unique way of looking at parental triggers and how to work with them from a place of self-compassion.
Christina Rasmussen is an acclaimed grief educator and bestselling author of Second Firsts (2013), Where Did You Go? (2018), and Invisible Loss (2024). In 2010, four years after her thirty-five-year-old spouse passed away from Stage 4 colon cancer, she created the Life Reentry process, which launched her on a mission to bring compassion, grace, and validation to thousands while simultaneously establishing an exit from what she termed the Waiting Room.
