In this month's episode of The Cherry Picker After Dark, we are stepping away from the horror genre and Ranking The James Bond Franchise. This is a pretty extensive ranking, as there are 25 official movies. Therefore, this will be broken up into two parts. This month we will be ranking movies 1-14, covering the Sean Connery, George Lazenby, and Roger Moore eras.

As well as us providing our own individual rankings, we will also be deciding which character from the first 14 movies is the most deserving to die. So please remember to help us vote on the Instagram, YouTube, and Patreon polls.

🛝 Raising Cain is an often forgotten and overlooked early 90s thriller from director Brian de Palma (Carrie, 1976). The film has gone on to amass its own small cult following over the decades, but we decided to cover it this week and were surprised to learn that de Palma had actually second guessed himself during post production, and assembled the film in a completely different order. Having watched two different cuts of the film, there's a lot to talk about with this one and the power of editing. And what better way to celebrate that, and the upcoming release of Halloween Ends, than to start with the first chapter in the Blumhouse / David Gordon green directed trilogy. In this episode, we will engage in a very contentious debate over the merits and fallbacks of this franchise reboot, including the film's story, production values, use of Michael Myers, John Carpenter co-composed score, the kills and makeup effects, and Jamie Lee Curtis' brand new characterization of Laurie Strode. 🎬 It's time for another Scream podcast, this time the infamously campy third instalment. In this episode we will discuss why Scream 3 deserves a lot more recognition than it receives, but also why it is still deeply flawed, and all of the changes that could have been done to make it better. This includes everything from the unremarkable opening scene featuring Cotton Weary, to the wasted potential of Sidney's deteriorating mental health from being isolated for so long. Mostly, we just have a really fun time revisiting the story and all of the characters, which felt like we could have gone on for another two hours. We still left room for The Cherry Picker nominations though, because of course, we have to choose which character we think was most deserving to die.

👯‍♀️ Single White Female turns 30 years old this month, and we had an inkling to revisit this early 90s guilty pleasure. In this episode we will discuss the mini sub-genre of horror dedicated to the scorned and unhinged femme fatale, which includes Fatal Attraction, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, and Basic Instinct. We will also talk about who almost got cast in the lead role, and how that would have dramatically changed the movie. We also question why this story seems to get remade over and over again with every generation, and mull over ideas for a sequel that would actually bring back the original actors (had Hedy lived to torment Alison for years to come), and of course, we'll also choose which character we think was most deserving to die.
