How to attract high-quality patients by understanding this 'dating' marketing dynamic13 Sep 202400:09:42

Are you looking for a one night stand or a marriage?

Because depending on what you're looking for, you have to play two very different games, hang out in very different places and show up in different ways. It's the same with marketing.

You can chase short-term gratification/outcomes, or you can look for long-term value, but the way you reach both destinations is very different and too much marketing is focused on instant results with long-term repercussions.

In this episode, I share exactly this and how you can build more effective marketing strategies for the long-term.

Well, Apple have finally done it.

After months of rumours, they have officially announced that they're introducing hearing aid functionality into their latest iOS software update, turning Apple Airpod Pro's into over-the-counter hearing aids.

The blueprint to escaping patient care to work ON your practice30 Aug 202400:24:12

This may be a controversial one ... .

.. but if you want to grow your practice, then it often requires you to spend your time working on the high pay-off activities where you're working ON the practice.

The best way to do this is to escape patient care, whether just one day per week or full-time.

In this episode, I share the lessons we can learn from the E-Myth that can be applied to help your practice to grow in maturity, and the many lessons you'll bump into a long the way.

Stop being priced shopped with this pricing adjustment23 Aug 202400:13:37

Are you seeing a similar trend?

Are more and more patients visiting you, asking for prices, then going elsewhere?

Are you and your providers having to justify your prices and articulate how you differ? Is the topic of Costco and competitors coming up more often?

You're not alone.

  • You can blame the economy
  • You can blame politics
  • Or you can blame the weather.

But I think it's something much bigger than that, and it's something within your control. In today's episode of the Business of Hearing Podcast, I cover this exact subject and share how you can strategically package your pricing to stop getting price shopped.

This One's Not for the Highlight Reel12 Jun 202500:13:56

You don't see the doubts.
The late nights.
The quiet moments where confidence slips and questions creep in.

From the outside, things might look like they're going well — but behind the curtain, it's messier. More human. More real.

In this episode, I open up about the parts of this journey I rarely talk about. The pressure to keep it all together. The fear of getting it wrong. The tug-of-war between building something meaningful and staying present in the moments that matter most.

There's no framework in this one. No perfect conclusion.
Just a reminder that if you're still figuring it out… you're not alone.

Google is Losing Marketshare, Fast - What This Means for Private Practice Marketing?13 Dec 202400:15:36

In October, it was published that Google had a 83.54% dominance on all online search.

Since then, a lot has changed.

  • OpenAI launched ChatGPT Search – their first attempt at competing with Google, which has supposedly won them 8% of extra search in less than 45 days

  • The Department of Justice has said that Google should be forced to sell Chrome to remove their monopoly on search, with it valued at an estimated $20 billion.

  • Microsoft (ChatGPT's biggest financial backer) are in line to be one of the only buyers of Chrome at this "fire-sale" price.

The entire dynamics of online search could be set to change. 🤯

On top of this, Gary Vaynerchuk (a guy that rarely misses with his technology predictions/trends) was quoted to say: "Google Search is fundamentally dead within the next seven years".

So, what does this mean for the future of marketing?

Because historically, practices have been told:

  • Win the SEO game and be #1 on Google
  • Spend money on Google Adverts (PPC) for local searches
  • Collect as many 5-star Google reviews as possible

In this episode, I share my two cents.

S3 Episode 14 - The kryptonite to manufacturer-owned chains09 Nov 202400:15:41

If you have a manufacturer-owned chain as a competitor, you know the pain.

They outspend you on advertising.
They are aggressive in their pursuit of new patients.
They have a national brand.
They have economies of scale.
They have many, many advantages.

Yet they do have a kryptonite, and there are several ways you can use your superpower against them to fight back and grow your market share. In this week's podcast, I share exactly what this is and how you, as David, can beat Goliath by using your brains rather than your bank balance.

Become the most expensive practice in your area by understanding THIS01 Nov 202400:12:12

This may be controversial.

But I believe you should be the most expensive practice in your area.

Three reasons why:

#1 - This is a business, and you deserve to build a great life for what you do (this isn't a charity).

#2 - By charging more, you can deliver more (time/energy/focus/service)

#3 - The fight at the bottom and in the middle is a mess ... you either need to be the cheapest (impossible) or the most expensive to stand out.

However, this isn't just a case of putting your prices up.
