On this episode, I share the story of how that came to be when it was so unexpected, how it's increased our Airbnb bookings, and share some outlandish guest stories that include ghosts and rogue bridesmaids.

Drawing from her own experiences and missteps, Ali shares seven effective strategies to keep your social media presence vibrant and engaging, even during slow periods.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Behind-the-Scenes Content: Share the process behind your business activities. Document everything from setup to execution.

ESC Conference Recap: Night 331 May 202401:24:17

The final day of the first ever ESC Conference kicked off with the Hot Seats! Four attendees had the chance to pitch their newest service offering to get feedback or present a problem they were having in their business to get advice. It was incredible and we had attendees from all stages in business (from selling their business to growing from a solopreneur to a team!).

We then had a break before the Experience Gallery...no one had any idea what to expect, but it was AMAZING and complete with the opportunity to do a podcast guest pitch, as well as get a watercolor illustration done!

We ended the educational day with a Finance Masterclass presented by Brittney Suttle of Knies & Co. where everyone learned something new!

Our final social of the event was Kentucky Derby/Louisville themed where we all got to dress up in our "Disco Derby" attire. We announced the ESC Goal Planning retreat here and then decided to change into comfy clothes and dance the night away in our PJs.

I would say the first ever ESC Conference was a success!!

Some highlights were: the check-in reactions to the venue, the deep conversations, and a full circle moment at a bourbon bar we accessed through our speakeasy door.

Some lowlights were: a lost phone, tablecloths, and Bento boxes gone wrong.

Emerging Confident: A Plastic Surgery Journey Through "Oversubscribed" Principles21 Feb 202400:26:53

In the final episode of Season 1 of the Ali Rae Haney Show, Ali shares her personal journey of undergoing major cosmetic surgery while drawing parallels to branding principles outlined in Daniel Priestly's book "Oversubscribed: How to Get People Lining Up To Do Business with You." Despite facing challenges and requiring conditions from her surgeon, Dr. Lynch, Ali highlights how his practice exemplifies the principles of making the market first, setting unique rules, and being positively remarkable. Dr. Lynch's focus on building relationships, upholding personal branding traits of confidence, directness, and warmth, and even offering a complimentary Botox treatment, all contribute to his practice's oversubscription. Through her experience, Ali emphasizes the importance of understanding and embodying one's personal brand while expressing gratitude to her audience for supporting her podcast journey. As Season 1 concludes, Ali looks forward to future seasons and invites listeners to suggest topics for upcoming episodes.

In this episode of The Ali Rae Haney Show, Ali dives into the world of branding photography, offering insights and tips to simplify the process for entrepreneurs. Brand photography, she explains, is more than just headshots; it's a visual representation of your brand's values, mission, and client experience. With the goal of easing the intimidation factor of hiring a branding photographer, Ali breaks down the process step by step.

Ali emphasizes the importance of setting clear goals for the session, as these images will be utilized across various marketing channels. She advises listeners to communicate their specific needs and objectives to the photographer, whether it's for social media, email marketing, or launching a new product/service.

Next, Ali discusses the process of curating a shot list, which involves brainstorming visuals that align with the brand's identity and resonate with the target audience. She encourages thinking outside the box and incorporating audience feedback to ensure messaging clarity.

Embracing Evolution: Pivoting Service Offerings Without Fear of Failure07 Feb 202400:21:59

The resounding line in this episode is: A pivot is not a failure!

This episode explores how to navigate a pivot in service offering both from two different scenarios:

  1. Where the circumstances are within your control (like your business isn't serving your current life's season).
  2. Where the circumstances are NOT within your control (like you were dealt a hard hand and now have to figure out a new way to generate revenue).

Both of these I have navigated myself...neither is easy! But there are ways to adapt and overcome and those are explored in this episode.

The Best Laid Brand: Lessons from a Wedding Venue Venture24 Jan 202400:50:09

This is a story based off of real life events.

In 2021, my family and I moved to Kentucky after my husband got out of the military. His dream was always to move to Kentucky. My dream was to start a wedding venue, so we found a way to make both of those come to life after his active duty time.

This episode focuses on the journey that we have been on during our time here in Kentucky bringing both of those dreams to life. Going from a very well thought out brand and a 10-year plan with all of our family involved, to closing up shop and re-evaluating our future…these last two years have been a challenge. We have faced obstacles with the county, with neighbors, with health and postpartum depression, with pivoting plans, and with the word “failure.” Never before have I told the entire story publicly, but I finally feel comfortable and confident enough to do so.

Take a peek into our lives and get the full story of The Commonwealth in this episode.

Tapping into the Intangibles: The Heartbeat of Branding24 Jan 202400:26:26

Welcome to the Ali Rae Haney Show! I'm Ali Rae, your host, and I'm thrilled to dive into the world of branding. As an English teacher turned brand developer and business owner, my journey has been a rollercoaster of lessons, pivots, and finding my true passion.

The Branding Journey:

From a photography business with zero background to brand development and photography, my love for small business owners keeps me fueled. My goal is to be your business best friend, delivering hard truths while cheering you on through the challenges of entrepreneurship.

Podcast Structure:

To honor my current season of life as a mom of three and business juggler, the show releases in seasons. Each season, including breaks, spans five weeks. Anticipation builds, and you'll be hearing from me consistently.

Unpacking the Intangibles of Branding:

  • Ideal Client Definition:
  • Dive deep into your ideal client's daily life, frustrations, and where they seek solutions.
  • Example: Analyzing a wedding photography business to understand the ideal client's desires, lifestyle, and problem-solving journey.
  • Unique Value Proposition (UVP):
  • Craft a concise statement that sets you apart in a sea of competition.
  • Essential for both product and service-based businesses.
  • Example: Delving into the UVP for a wedding photography business, focusing on service, professionalism, and efficiency.
  • Brand Messaging:
  • Identify ideal client frustrations and create a brand vocabulary for consistent messaging.
  • Example: Unveiling the messaging strategy for a wedding photography business, emphasizing keywords like "image," "legacy," and "heirloom."

Consistency is Key:

Branding is not a one-and-done task; it's the lifeblood of your business. Consistency across your UVP, messaging, and encounters with your audience builds the know, like, and trust factor.

A Living Document:

Whether you've been in business for a year or a decade, your brand evolves. Constantly update it based on learning about your ideal client, pivoting services, or changing client dynamics. Small tweaks can have a big impact.

As we wrap up the first episode, I hope these insights make your brand irresistible to your ideal client. Cheers, everybody!
