Names Dissolve, Blessings Remain: A Spiritual Reflection
The importance we place on the name we give to God reveals more about our spiritual maturity than our understanding of divine truth. Spiritual growth involves recognizing that names for the divine are just different expressions pointing to the same ultimate reality.
• Names for God vary across traditions - God, Allah, Brahman, Nirankar - but all refer to the same divine essence • How we receive blessings from different traditions demonstrates our spiritual maturity • Words like love, compassion, and kindness can all be used to describe the ultimate essence • Attachment to specific divine names often reflects ego rather than spiritual realization • Names themselves can become idols just as physical forms can • Appreciating someone's blessing regardless of terminology honors their intention • Spiritual maturity involves moving beyond fixation on specific words or names • When someone offers a blessing, they're giving their time and positive intention
Your true nature is like the vast sky—unchanging and untouched by the storms of thoughts and emotions that pass through your awareness. When we understand ourselves as formless consciousness rather than our passing mental states, we find freedom not by stopping our emotions but by recognizing they cannot bind our true nature.
• Thoughts and emotions are like clouds that appear and disappear in the sky of consciousness • Our true nature is like the sky—vast, unchanging, and unharmed by mental storms • The formless awareness (Nirguna Brahman) holds all beings just as the sky holds all clouds • Practice remembering you're not the passing emotion but the open, silent awareness • Use practices like mantra repetition to stabilize the mind during emotional turbulence • Freedom comes not from stopping emotions but from knowing you were never bound by them • See emotions as objects rather than subjects to gain mastery over them • The more we abide as formless awareness, the more peaceful and at ease we become
God's all-pervading nature means there is no separation between the Divine and anything in existence, including ourselves – we are experiencing God or we are God experiencing itself through what appears to be many parts.
• Understanding omnipresence means recognizing God is the only one present • When we see bodies and minds as divine temples, we transform how we treat ourselves and others • True spirituality reveals that we aren't merely parts of God but inseparable from divine consciousness • The journey from atheism to non-duality involves unlearning limited concepts about God • Liberation comes through directly experiencing that formless consciousness exists within everything • Recognizing God as existence itself dissolves the illusion of separation

The spiritual journey's greatest obstacle is our own identification with a separate self that's seeking enlightenment. True seeking means recognizing that what we're looking for is already within us - there has only ever been the Self.
• The journey is circular, bringing us back to what was always present but overlooked • Self-realization isn't something to be attained but the understanding that only the Self exists • Body, mind, name and form are merely narratives playing out within awareness • Happiness arises naturally when we dissolve our identification with a separate self • Living as the formless means operating from the understanding that you are not the doer • Even the desire for enlightenment can delay the recognition of what you already are • True surrender isn't an action but a relaxation into what is already present • The humility of considering oneself a perpetual seeker remains vital even after profound realizations • Pure consciousness wouldn't declare itself "enlightened" - that comes from the separate self • By dissolving all concepts and identifications, we discover our natural state of bliss and contentment

Pure consciousness is our true nature, though we often mistakenly identify with our body and mind, creating a sense of separation from the world around us.
• "Tat Tvam Asi" (You are that) reminds us we are the pure consciousness that exists everywhere • There is not a single place where consciousness is not, meaning there's no place where you are not • Our physical bodies create the illusion of separation, but our true self is unlimited awareness • Understanding our true nature naturally gives rise to compassion and selfless service • Speaking against injustice becomes part of spiritual practice when done from awareness of oneness • Pure consciousness is eternal, present in all states—waking, dreaming, and deep sleep • When we recognize consciousness as the foundation of everything, we live in absolute freedom • Surrender to our true nature happens effortlessly when we understand consciousness alone is
What's your experience of being in pure awareness? We'd love to hear from you.

This is the 4th episode of Direct and Unfiltered with The Bearded Mystic! The question is: How do I empower myself without possessing an ego?

Want to ask a question for Direct & Unfiltered with The Bearded Mystic. Submit your question by completing this survey please.
Our masculine identity crisis stems from misunderstanding what positive masculinity truly is through the lens of Advaita Vedanta.
• Positive masculinity is about inner strength with gentleness, not dominance or suppression • True masculinity comes from being rooted in dharma (righteous living) • The false masculine identity is based in ego rather than our nature as pure consciousness • Brahman (ultimate reality) is beyond gender—the crisis comes from not realizing our true nature • Within family and society, roles should be based on necessary actions rather than gender distinctions • The ideal male role model is unmoved by praise/blame and success/failure • True strength is found in peace, not aggression or control • Presence is more important than commands in fatherhood and relationships • Toxic masculine traits (aggression, superiority, emotional repression) stem from ignorance of the self • Discipline and self-inquiry help transform impulsive masculinity into radiant stability • Look to figures like Sri Ram and Krishna rather than modern "alpha male" influencers
Share your thoughts on this perspective of masculinity and let's continue the conversation.
In this episode, The Bearded Mystic Podcast discusses the wisdom of Nisargadatta Maharaj Ji. He was a teacher that spoke on non-duality and published many books, most famously 'I am That'.

I share the story of the darkest time in my life when my spiritual guru Babaji died in 2016, and how this profound loss ultimately led to deeper spiritual understanding and awakening.
• The unique way Babaji addressed me not as a personality but as the true self within • The concept of oneness that formed the foundation of my spiritual journey • Experiencing Brahmgyana (knowledge of the ultimate self) through the traditional Upanishadic method • The continuity of spiritual teaching despite changes in physical gurus • Finding the sameness in spiritual teachings across different traditions and teachers • Moving from intellectual understanding to simply resting in awareness • Recognizing that what I worship isn't the form of the guru but the formless consciousness they embody • The transformation from my darkest time to the brightest as I realized Babaji never truly left • How seeing the Guru in everything and everyone expands our capacity for understanding
