Damo and I were thinking of ideas to promote the BEARDMAIL Podcast. "I've got it..." Damo said, "why don't we dress up as post boxes, go to a big city, like Oxford, and talk to people!" Great idea! Not only will we stand out, but it'd also be 'content in itself'. However, when we planned this months ago, there were no Royal Mail postal strikes taking place.

There are a lot of scammers out there, and it can be hard to know who to trust. If you're not careful, you could end up giving your hard-earned money to someone who doesn't deserve it. Here are a few tips to help you avoid scammers:

Don't give out any information until you're sure you're dealing with a legitimate person or business.

Beware of offers that seem too good to be true. If someone is offering something that seems too good to be true, it probably is. Be especially careful of offers that require you to pay money upfront; in most cases, these are scams.

Do your research before doing business with someone. If you're thinking about doing business with someone, make sure you research them first. Find out if there have been any complaints against them, and make sure they're licensed and insured if applicable.

We share our experiences at the Oxford Beard Festival. Damo4Show had the honour of hosting as Compère of the show. Dan took his RUNESILK wares as a trader for the day and even turned his hand to a spot of judging.

There's no denying that the economy has taken a hit following the COVID-19 pandemic. Jobs have been lost, businesses have closed, and many people are struggling to make ends meet, especially with rising energy costs. 

There are ways to beat the recession. You can look at your spending habits to see if there are improvements you can make to your finances. Most importantly to know is how much you need to survive. Then you can make changes to suit your situation.

There is one silver lining to the current economic situation: it's the perfect time to start your own business. Whether that's a small side hustle or diving in with a completely new adventure.

Both Damo and Dan have been involved in charity fundraising over the years. Whether running from the UK to Antwerp or just Running the Month. Listen back to our experiences of raising money for charity as we explain the challenges faced when raising money for good causes. we discuss how the current recession we are all being hit by, and this has and will impact the future of charity fundraising. 

The British Beard and Moustache Championships is a Biannual event that celebrates the art of facial hair. Held back due to Covid, it was a highly anticipated event, attended by some outstanding facial statements. 

Competitors from all over the UK (and worldwide) came to compete in a variety of categories, including several length-based categories, plus some more unique categories such as; British Business Beard, Freestyle, and Best Fake Beard. The event is open to anyone, regardless of gender or facial hair status. This year's championships took place in the stunning Temple Speech Rooms in Rugby.

So what does it take to be a champion Beard or Moustache? Well, Damo and Dan took bronze in their categories, so tune in to find out. So, now the podcast is officially hosted by two British Champions!!

We took a trip to London to attend the London Craft Beer Festival. 

A story of dangerous electric scooter trips, various alcoholic beverages, late-night McDonalds and Budweiser in the Park! 

Damo learns about all the different types of beers to be had from over 100 independent craft beer breweries, most of which he hated. His absolute favourite being a black tea and lemon pale, or maybe it was the closest thing he was offered to a typical lager; a dark cherry and chocolate porter...lol. 

The jury is out there; do we attend the London Craft Beer Festival next year as a Beardmail Day Out? Or just hit the corner shop for a couple of Buds with buds?

There's no denying that beards are having a moment. Everywhere you look, men are sporting impressive facial hair. But what do women really think of all this beard proliferation? Are we into it? Or are they secretly wishing their man would reach for the razor?

Well, it turns out that opinions on beards are pretty divided. Some women find them incredibly sexy, while others find them downright lumberjack-esque. 

But even though there's no clear consensus on beards, one thing is for sure: they're not going anywhere anytime soon. 

In today's world, it's all too easy to get caught up in the digital world and forget about the great outdoors.

Space, what is it? That's a question that has puzzled philosophers and scientists for centuries. And it's still a bit of a mystery. We know that space is the void that exists between matter, but beyond that, it's hard to say exactly what space is.

As for what space smells like, that's another mystery. Some people say it smells like nothing at all. Others say it smells faintly of roses or something sweet. But the truth is, we don't really know. astronauts who have been to space say it has a special smell, but they can't quite describe it. So for now, the jury is still out on what space smells like. Is the humble selection box over-rated?

Dieting is a multi-billion dollar industry, and there's always a new fad diet on the market promising quick and easy results. However, the truth is that most diets are ineffective at best, and many can actually be harmful to your health. The key to maintaining a healthy weight is to eat a balanced diet and get regular exercise. Fad diets typically involve cutting out entire food groups or eating ridiculously large amounts of one particular food. This can lead to unhealthy weight loss, as well as nutrient deficiencies. In addition, fad diets are often unrealistic and difficult to maintain over the long term.

There's nothing quite like the atmosphere of a festival. Whether it's a music festival, a food festival, or a festive celebration of culture, festivals provide a unique and memorable experience. I've had the opportunity to attend several festivals over the years, and each one has left me with some amazing memories. From the sights and sounds of the different stalls and attractions to the delicious food and drink on offer, festivals are truly a sensory feast. I've also loved getting to meet new people from all walks of life at festivals.

A podcast about social media. Argued that social media is addictive. The dopamine hit we get from social media contributes to our addiction. 

When we get a notification or like on social media, our brain gets a dopamine hit. This encourages us to come back for more. They use features such as notifications, infinite scrolls, and autoplay to keep us engaged. 

Is social media addictive? It appears that it might be.

The inaugural Opies Beard and Moustache Championships was held back in May, and Beard Mail went to check it out. The event was a huge success and an awesome day out. Beard Mail is a podcast all about the beard community, so we were interested to see how Jamie Cox, founder of Opies Beard Co and Opies Beard and Moustache Championships, felt the event went. He told us that he was really pleased with how the event went and that it was great to see so many people coming together to celebrate the bearding community. 

The event was raising money for Daisy's Dream, a local charity in Reading that helps support children that have suffered bereavement in the family or have a family member with life threatening illness. 

We'll be sure to enter again next year!
