| #26 - Life as a Musician with JJ Eaton | 08 Mar 2021 | 01:25:40 | |
JJ and I had a great talk, and have become friends since. It's great when that happens. We discuss everything from writing, to recording, to promoting, and a lot about life in general. Honestly, you'll likely want to listen a few times just to be able to pick up on everything. ***Disclaimer*** I was having some mic issues, and the sound is hit and miss during the episode. I did what I could to fix it, but hopefully it's not too distracting. | #25 - Good Vibes with B-Funk | 01 Mar 2021 | 01:36:10
It's always enjoyable to hang with my guy B-Funk. His latest album is some of his best work. Like many artists, B-Funk dabbles in many different genres. And honestly, it seems like a natural progression as most people listen to multiple genres. I can guarantee you will find a track or two you really vibe with. | #23 - Exploring Musical Styles with Lucy Wroe | 27 Jan 2021 | 00:56:16
I would best categorize Lucy's sound as "alternative", although that can mean so many things. A little rock, a little soul, and a lot of passion shine through, backed with a powerful vocal. It was good to get to sit down with her, from across the pond as they say, and chat about music. Neither of us want to be pigeon holed into a specific genre with our music. Sometimes that's a blessing, and sometimes it's a curse. ----more---- You can find Lucy all over at Lucy Wroe Music ----more---- Intro music: By me - Bill Gelwick Outro Music: Hollow Me by James "Odie" Sailors. | #20 Killing it in the Music Business with Miss Krysttle | 07 Dec 2020 | 00:24:06
Ok, coming back off hiatus with a powerful one. The last episode I published was the Indie Artist Spotlight episode from Miss Krystle. Now you will get to see the other side of this amazingly talented woman. Not only is she an exceptionally gifted musician (as well as attractive woman), but she has a mind for business to rival any in the industry. You can find her all over at her link below, but be sure to go check out her YouTube channel called Top Music Attorney. If you have any dealings with the music business, you need to be following that channel. ----more---- You can find Miss Krystle everywhere via her linktree link below: https://linktr.ee/misskrystlelive ----more---- Intro music: By me - Bill Gelwick Outro Music: Hollow Me by James "Odie" Sailors. | Indie Artist Spotlight #10 - Miss Krystle | 01 Jul 2020 | 00:17:37
I've been following Miss Krystal for a while now, primarily because of the business advice she gives on YouTube, but her music is FIRE! These 3 tracks all come from the upcoming album titles Dangerous Daughters. This album marks her transition into AGGROPOP (Aggressive Pop) music. If this is the direction pop music is going, I'm on board. ----more---- You can find Miss Krystle everywhere via her linktree link below:
| #19 - Holding Down the Beat with Winifred Tan | 29 Jun 2020 | 00:40:41 | |
SO, I'm scrolling Instagram one day, when I came across this youg woman playing drums, and was highly impressed. After digging a bit deeper, I came to realize that, this person known as TiniWinionDrums was really an incredible musician. Jump ahead a few months, and here we are, chatting on the podcast. Also, she has recently formed a duo group, in the Math/Progrock genre, who's debut EP is due to drop soon. Check her instagram account http://instagram.com/tinywiniondrums and click the link in her bio to find out more. They are creating some cool stuff. And, if some of the references sound a bit dated, that's because this was recorded about 2 months ago, but I held it back to coincide with the EP release. ----more---- Intro music: By me - Bill Gelwick Outro Music: Hollow Me by James "Odie" Sailors. | #18 - Do Your Own Thing - Mike Allen | 23 Jun 2020 | 01:44:24
If the name Mike Allen rings a bell, there's a good reason. Only a couple weeks ago Mike's music was featured in an Indie Artist Spotlight episode. And now I was able to get together with Mike for an interview. We cover many topics, But a lot of it comes back to the topic that inspired the title of this episode, do you own thing. Mike's music is exceptionally unique, the perfect illustration of my motto, "You do You". I hope you enjoy. ----more---- http://twitter.com/mkallen1978 http://instagram.com/mkallen1978 https://open.spotify.com/artist/0Y6EOWkv9mAYYkIpKLiSLN?si=QQQMFOCCQT2PMfc36BR-Iw----more---- Intro music: By me - Bill Gelwick Outro Music: Hollow Me by James "Odie" Sailors. | Indie Artist Spotlight #8 - Modo | 17 Jun 2020 | 00:19:55
I thoroughly enjoyed digging into these three tracks. Modo is an exceptionally talented guy, and all 3 of these tracks are legit fire. Gold Mine - A somewhat autobiographical piece, all about the hustle and overcoming the struggles. Gluttony - A track from the album 7 Deadly Songs, a cautionary tale about living a life of excess. Name Brand - This song focuses on how so many people think they need expensive name brand clothes and such, just to try and impress others, while that is a large part of why they remain broke.

| #17 - Breaking the Record with Lauren Norstrom | 15 Jun 2020 | 02:14:52 | |
It is rare that you speak with someone, for the first time, and conversation just flows effortlessly, but that describes this call with Lauren. Right from the beginning, before we even started recording, we were laughing and having a good time. And that's why the episode is titled the way it is, because this is the longest episode to date, but you will certainly enjoy every minute of it. We covered far more topics than I can even try to list here. So go have a listen, and i hope you really get a lot out of this. ----more---- All of Lauren's links can be found on her website, www.laurennorstrom.com ----more----

| Indie Artist Spotlight #7 - Alan Morrissey | 11 Jun 2020 | 00:24:58 | |
If you're into hard hitting instrumentals, with a heavy dose of distorted guitar, then you're in the right place. If it's not your thing, I challenge you to have a listen anyway. The artistry will amaze you. Alan Morrissey can shred with the best of them. ----more---- Fallout - A track inspired by the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl, told from the reactor’s point of view. The song deals with the chaos, rage, refection and ultimately the ‘Fallout’ from the disaster, using heavy funk metal multi-tracked guitars to tell the story. Re-Tox - A heavy bluesy number with Southern Rock influenced keyboards to give a Black Crowes meets Led Zeppelin vibe. A drifting rhythmic wander that dials back to the ‘70’s and 80’s. Speed Pursuit - A heavy driving number that evokes the idea of high-octane driving, high speed police chases and high drama. Calling back to the late ‘80’s/ early 90’s heyday of British and American metal, the guitar sets the pace with fast syncopated solos, heavy riffing and unashamed solos that give way to a reflective outro. ----more---- The tracks are from a 4-track EP called 'All Guitar', the cover artwork, which was created by my wife, is attached to the email along with a promo image I use. The EP was 100% written, composed, arranged and recorded by me in my house; drums are digital kits provided by Arnaud Krakowka https://arnaudkrakowka.com which were arranged by me, all the guitar and bass was written and performed by me. | #15 - Nuttin but Love with B-Funk | 01 Jun 2020 | 00:36:52
This young man is an inspiration. Not only with his work ethic, which is incredible, but because of his love for humanity. That's the big one. I've now spoken with many amazing artists, all of whom are hugely supportive of the indie community, but B-Funk takes it to the next level. Wait until you hear what his ultimate goal is for his music. I was not expecting that. Epic!

| Indie Artist Spotlight #6 - Stone Age Man | 31 May 2020 | 00:21:46 | |
If you look up eclectic in the dictionary, and do not find this band name beside it, that's an oversight on the part of Mr Webster. Look At What The Cat Dragged In: Demented tango klezmer punk…not much more to say really! Save Me: Glam rock with a bubblegum chorus. Carry Me Back: Barnstorming blues that builds and builds.
| Indie Artist Spotlight #5 Mike Allen | 27 May 2020 | 00:29:35 | |
You are in for a real treat today. Mike Allen, super talented, with an exceptionally broad taste in music. And that wide range of influence comes through in his music. Melding elements from multiple Genres, Mike has created a sound, that I believe, is unique only to him. Elements of EDM, Synth, alt rock, hard rock, and other influences ranging form punk to classical, combine for this truly unique sound. Oh, and I don't think I mentioned during the episode, but Mike produces, records, mixes and masters all his own work. Did I mention he's talented? Here are today's 3 Tracks: The Night That I Saw Hell - is a track from my last EP 'The Benefit Of Doubt' and is about my struggles with addiction. The Weight Of Choice - was the second to last track written and recorded for the album 'Motives' and is about a seemingly unpopular political opinion, depending on what circles you run in. (I think I misread that and said it was the first one written for this album in the episode. Sorry) New Bliss - was the first track I wrote and recorded for 'Motives' and is about coming to terms with mortality and how everyone's opinion on the matter is just as valid as the next guy's.
| #14 - A Modern Renaissance with Weimar | 25 May 2020 | 00:52:58 | |
Another stand-out act from my adventures in playlist curation, Weimar is (in their words) and art rock band hailing from Manchester, UK. It must be something in the water, because it seems that half the great rock bands of all times came from one of 3 cities in the UK; London, Liverpool and of course Manchester. Aidan and I had a fun chat. He is a multi-talented guy. Not only a musician, but also an actor and a writer. Just goes to show, a true creative is always creating. I hope you enjoy. I will be featuring these guys in the Indie Artist Spotlight segment soon as well, so be on the lookout for that, but go check them out on their website and Spotify until then. ----more---- You can find the guys of Weimar at the links below. | Indie Artist Spotlight #3 - Kortokrax | 13 May 2020 | 00:17:14
Featuring 3 tracks from EDM artist Kortokrax. As I mention near the end of the episode, this is a genre that I have a great deal of respect for. The more I try to learn the production side of music, the more I realize just how complicated it can get. Anyone who can produce results like this is one talented individual. Walking the Shore: In this song I reminisce about wanting to be back home and thinking about friends and loved ones. It is a slow easy rock jam that sounds great in a pair of headphones. Colorado: this funky groovy instrumental is perfect for a nice slow drive around town. It is a banger done right. Funky Bump: the uptempo instrumental hits just right. Puts this song on, and go for a walk.

Welcome to the first installment of this segment, The Indie Artist Spotlight. Each week, we will do an episode that features 3 songs by a particular artist, with a little commentary in between. | Autonomy Talent Podcast - Episode 4 - Having a few Laughs with Nathan Hurd | 17 Feb 2020 | 00:33:43
Be prepared to laugh, as well as learn a few things about the cycles of social networks. Nathan is insanely funny, and I had a blast talking with him, as you will be able to tell. We discussed how one video was what set him on fire, on TicTok. There doesn't seem to be any real rhyme or reason to it when it does. Just keep putting out good stuff, and things will start to take off. It's then, up to you, to maintain that momentum. ----more---- You can find Nathan at @NathanHurdComedy on Instagram, YouTube and TicTok, @NateHurdComedy on twitter. ----more---- Intro music: By me Outtro Music: Hollw Ma by James "Odie" Sailors. https://www.numberonemusic.com/defacto

| Autonomy Talent Podcast - Episode 3 - Music Marketing with Vince of Forge Collective | 04 Feb 2020 | 00:30:07 | |
In this episode, I visit with a fellow marketer, with a passion for creatives. Vince, of the Forge Collective Agency is a great resource. Hailing from the San Francisco bay area, Vince has started a company that focuses on promoting artists the right way. Not hacky, spammy ways. Not the ways that worked 20 years ago. But good, solid methods, that will build an audience, and a fan base. We talk about several marketing strategies, including his 3 step process he uses with his clients. There are several nuggets to be taken form this episode. You might even want to take notes (unless you're driving, then listen again later when you don't have to pay attention to the road).
