How the Right Brand Ambassador can Change Everything24 Sep 202601:05:18

Are brands losing control of their image — or just choosing the wrong faces to represent them? In this episode of _The Art of the Brand_, Camille Moore and Phillip Millar dive into PETA’s Fashion Week fallout, the Lola Blankets “luxury” debate, Reformation’s Olivia Jade gamble, and the Bobbi Brown vs. Molly Sims campaign controversy. They unpack how MrBeast, Hilary Duff, Angel Reese, and Kylian Mbappé are reshaping what it means to be a brand ambassador, why KFC is betting big on pickle-core, how Sharpie quietly hijacked the NFL rookie moment, and what the Hyrox “poo incident” reveals about crisis PR when peak performance gets messy. From Zero to TikTok Shop Giant: Bloom’s Creator‑Led Playbook23 Sep 202601:06:56

This episode of AOTB has Camille Moore pull back the curtain on how a digital‑first CPG brand turned TikTok Shop from a “flashy sales channel” into a long‑term brand engine. From community‑driven growth to retail halo effects, Bloom’s playbook shows what happens when you stop treating creators like a tactic and start treating them like the core of the business.
In this episode, we explore:
■ The Creator‑First Flip: How Bloom stopped asking “How do we make TikTok Shop work for our brand?” and started asking “How do we make it work for our creators?” — and why that mindset change unlocked exponential growth.
■ From 50 Videos to 1,800 a Day: The systems behind scaling from mid–six figures to seven‑figure TikTok Shop months, including Discord communities, twice‑weekly creator calls, and radical creative freedom.
■ Building a 30,000‑Creator Army: The internal team structure, no‑agency philosophy, and GMV Max strategy that let Bloom empower all tiers of creators, from new affiliates to seven‑figure sellers, while keeping “creator‑first” in the brand’s DNA.

The Chaos Economy: Foldable Phones, Betting Booms, and Branding Breakdowns16 Sep 202600:58:46

Are brands losing their grip on culture — or are consumers simply evolving faster than the companies trying to reach them? This podcast pulls back the curtain on the forces shaping modern branding, media, and influence. From celebrity business moves to luxury’s identity crisis, from tech giants reinventing themselves to the rise of creator‑driven culture, brand strategist Camille Moore and business strategist Phillip Millar break down how we buy, behave, and belong.

It’s the Art of the Brand!

In this episode, we explore:

■ The Influence Collision: Wimbledon’s crackdown on influencers and what happens when digital culture collides with tradition.

■ The Apple Power Shift: How the “Surprise and Shine” keynote doubled as a CEO audition — and what the $1,999 foldable iPhone Duo signals for Apple’s future.

■ The GQ Identity Crisis: How a failed livestream exposed shrinking demand and what happens when a legacy brand forgets its audience.

■ The Betting Boom: How celebrities, athletes, and nostalgia plays like the Entourage reunion are reshaping online gambling culture.

■ The Siren Effect: Sydney Sweeney’s viral Novig ad, the backlash, and the tension between empowerment, sex appeal, and brand authenticity.

■ The Calm Economy: Kendall Jenner’s move into functional beverages — and whether “calm in a can” is the next big trend or another celebrity misfire.

■ Haute Wellness: Dior’s luxury wellness push and what it reveals about lifestyle branding, Gen Z spending, and modern aspiration.

How Brands Destroy Years of Equity 14 Sep 202601:08:20

Some of the world’s most recognizable brands are starting to look a little less distinctive.

Nike is losing ground to brands that feel more focused. PepsiCo just ended a 25-year agency relationship. Dyson is selling a $500 toothbrush. The US Open opened the door to creators and discovered that attention comes with less control than it used to. Huda Beauty is trying to move past controversy, while Vogue faces a very different challenge: what happens when the person who made the brand what it is eventually steps away?

This week, we’re looking at what happens when the thing that made a brand distinctive starts to disappear.

On the episode:

● Nike: Has Nike moved too far away from the athlete and aspiration that made it iconic? We look at its loss of valuable shelf space, the rise of On and Hoka, and what happens when a brand tries to appeal to everyone.

● PepsiCo: PepsiCo ended a 25-year relationship with Omnicom without a pitch. What does that tell us about the changing advertising industry, and why are long-standing relationships no longer enough to protect a business?

● The US Open: The tournament embraced the creator economy, but inviting creators into your world also means giving up some control over how your brand gets interpreted.

● Dyson: Is the $500 Camera Jet toothbrush a meaningful piece of innovation, or a sign that Dyson is starting to confuse more technology with more value?

● Lindsay Clancy: What does the trial tell us about social media, storytelling and the way emotion can shape public opinion before the full story is understood?

● Huda Beauty: Huda Beauty has survived a controversy that could have seriously damaged a smaller founder-led brand. Can its Cardi B campaign shift the conversation back to beauty?

● Vogue: Anna Wintour has become inseparable from Vogue’s identity. So what happens when the person who made a brand culturally irreplaceable is no longer running it?

Different stories, but the same underlying question: what makes a brand worth choosing, remembering and coming back to?"

Because the internet rewards the fastest reaction. Great brands still need the judgment to know when not to react.

Outrage Culture Is Killing Great Advertising02 Sep 202600:17:22

This week's episode is about what happens when outrage travels faster than context.
We recorded this one live in Toronto, and it started with an ad. Good Good, one of golf's biggest YouTube channels, created a 60-second campaign with Callaway about a golfer becoming dangerously obsessed with his driver. A few seconds were clipped, reframed as domestic violence, and suddenly the internet was furious. Callaway pulled the campaign, apologized, pledged $1 million to women's golf, and left the smaller creator brand holding the bag.
But when you watch the full ad, the story looks very different.
That became the jumping-off point for a bigger conversation about whether brands have become too afraid of criticism to stand behind their own decisions, and what happens to creativity when every campaign is designed around avoiding the worst possible interpretation.
On the episode:
● Why the Good Good x Callaway ad became an internet scandal, and how clipping has created an entire economy around manufacturing outrage.
● Why Callaway's biggest mistake may not have been approving the ad, but panicking when people criticized it.
● Why Target's controversial Halloween costume deserved a different response. and the difference between acknowledging a genuine mistake and corporate pandering.
● Whether Sézane's founder should be allowed to completely reinvent the brand after 20 years, or whether consistency becomes more important as a brand reaches iconic status.
● Why Meta paid $16.8 billion over allegations surrounding addictive design and children, and why making your product addictive isn't necessarily the problem.
● Whether Apple can still claim to "Think Different" when its first foldable phone arrives eight generations after Samsung.
● The three questions every founder should ask before giving a celebrity or creator equity: can they improve the product, drive actual sales, or add genuine credibility?
● Why the most dangerous thing a brand can do in a crisis may be allowing internet outrage to make its decisions for it.
Because the internet rewards the fastest reaction. Great brands still need the judgment to know when not to react.

Fake Outrage, Branding Fumbles and Real Money: The Business of Pretending Online27 Aug 202600:34:28

This week's episode comes to you from Pacifico in Costa Rica, where we traded the studio for 30-degree weather, the Pacific Ocean, and a community that gave us a very different perspective on what makes an experience feel real.

And fittingly, that's the thread running through this week's conversation: what's real, what's manufactured, and can consumers still tell the difference?

We get into the Nantucket store that declared war on influencers, Nara Smith rejecting the "trad wife" label that helped define her online world, ChatGPT introducing advertising after positioning itself as an alternative to ad-driven search, and the Buffalo Bills risking one of the most authentic fan cultures in professional sports by trying to regulate it.

On the episode:

● Why a Nantucket store put up a "No Influencers" sign, and what the backlash says about where influencer culture is heading.

● How Paige Lorenze and Dairy Boy turned Nantucket into a physical extension of an online brand world.

● Why Nara Smith saying "I'm not a trad wife" created such a reaction, and why sometimes the audience decides what your brand represents.

● Why ChatGPT introducing ads could change one of the fundamental reasons people trusted the platform in the first place.

● How the Buffalo Bills risked killing the magic of one of the NFL's greatest fan traditions by trying to regulate and monetize it.

● Why community can't simply be purchased, and why brands need to know when to amplify what people create rather than control it.

● What spending time at Pacifico reminded us about experience, community and why the things that feel the most valuable are often the hardest to manufacture.

We also share why Costa Rica, and Pacifico specifically, has become such an interesting destination for entrepreneurs looking for a different pace of life, from its proximity to a Blue Zone and medical tourism to the kind of community that makes slowing down feel like an advantage rather than a sacrifice.

AI is making everyone sound the same26 Aug 202600:59:55

This week's episode is about what happens when technology makes it easier than ever to look like you've built something without actually doing the work. We recorded this one from Manila, where a conversation about AI influencers, ChatGPT, Reddit and celebrity brands kept coming back to the same question: in a world obsessed with shortcuts, what actually makes a brand real?

We break down why Meghan Markle's lifestyle brand struggled to translate celebrity into credibility, how ChatGPT suddenly changed its relationship with Reddit, and why brands trying to game AI search may be solving the wrong problem entirely. We also look at Google's new AI agents calling businesses on your behalf, the rise of virtual influencers with millions of followers, and why the more automated the internet becomes, the more valuable genuinely human creativity may become.

On the episode:

● Why Meghan Markle's move back toward the Royal Family exposes a bigger lesson about celebrity brands, authenticity and trying to manufacture credibility.

● Why ChatGPT's Reddit citations suddenly dropped, and what brands investing in Reddit and AI search need to understand.

● How an $11 fake deodorant brand outranked real companies in AI search without fake reviews, Reddit manipulation or an existing audience.

● Why Google's AI can now call businesses on your behalf, compare their answers and recommend where you should spend your money.

● Why Justin Bieber wants to build a phone, and whether there's actually room for someone to challenge Apple.

● How AI influencers are attracting millions of followers and brand deals despite the people behind them not being real.

● Why virtual influencers could become incredibly valuable to retailers, and what that means for the creator economy.

● What J.K. Rowling and great advertising copy teach us about the one thing AI still struggles to manufacture: original thought.

● Why the smartest way to use AI isn't to outsource your thinking, but to accelerate the work after you've done the thinking yourself.

Did ChatGPT Design Instagram's New Logo?24 Aug 202600:55:03

This week's episode is about the difference between getting attention and actually knowing what to do with it. Alex Cooper just raised $500 million for Unwell, BÉIS sold to Samsonite for $210 million, Instagram changed its identity and pissed off the internet, and the WNBA has more attention than ever while struggling to control what that attention is actually doing to the brand.

The common thread is simple: attention has become one of the most valuable assets in business, but attention alone isn't enough. The companies winning are the ones that know how to turn it into trust, community, distribution and ultimately enterprise value.

On the episode:

● How Alex Cooper turned Call Her Daddy into a $500 million media company, and why creator-led media is challenging the traditional agency model.

● Why shutting down Unwell Hydration may actually be one of the smartest decisions Alex Cooper has made.

● What BÉIS's $210 million sale to Samsonite tells us about celebrity brands, acquisition multiples and knowing when to exit.

● Why Instagram changed its identity after ten years, and when a brand refresh is actually worth the money.

● Why Reddit may be the most valuable consumer research tool brands have right now, and why trying to manipulate it could backfire.

● Whether AI is quietly flattening creativity by making it too easy to skip the difficult thinking that produces great ideas.

● What Martha Stewart's criticism of Meghan Markle reveals about the difference between borrowing attention and earning authority.

● How the WNBA gained enormous attention but lost control of the conversation, and why attention that doesn't reinforce the brand can become a liability.

AI can create everything except this13 Aug 202601:07:36

This week's episode is about what happens when the internet starts having more bots than humans. AI can now search, shop, write, clip content and increasingly make decisions for us, but the more efficient everything becomes, the more valuable distinctly human qualities like taste, imperfection, judgment and real connection become.

We recorded this one from Austin after two weeks on the road, and it turned into a bigger conversation about where branding is heading in an AI-first world. From executives outsourcing their thinking to Disney handing its content vault to TikTok creators, Jimothy the raccoon becoming an unlikely internet phenomenon, and Cracker Barrel learning the cost of forgetting what customers actually loved, the same lesson kept showing up: technology can scale almost anything, but it can't manufacture genuine human connection.

On the episode:

•Why "AI wishing" could be one of the biggest mistakes executives make as they adopt AI.

•What it means now that bots are reportedly generating more internet traffic than humans.

•Why search is moving from keywords to context—and what brands need to change for AI discovery.

•Why Disney and HBO are betting on clipping their existing content instead of simply creating more.

•What Jimothy the raccoon teaches brands about imperfection, weirdness and why people actually care.

•Why Cracker Barrel's failed rebrand is a warning about changing what your customers already love.

•How Bethenny Frankel is using world-building to turn an audience into something much bigger.

•Why being present, putting down your phone and thinking for yourself may become the ultimate advantage in an AI-first world.

The Motorcycle Crash That Started a Wellness Empire10 Aug 202601:14:57

This week's episode is about what nine years of obsession looks like before anyone is watching. We sat down with Dr. Jason Wersland, the chiropractor who built Therabody out of a hardware-store jigsaw after a motorcycle accident left him in constant pain. He never ran a real ad campaign, and somehow the same device ended up on NFL sidelines, in Emirates first class, and on your mom's nightstand. This one is a masterclass in earning trust instead of buying it.

On the episode:

● How a motorcycle accident led Jason to invent the Theragun with a $250 jigsaw from the hardware store.

● Why a $400K agency couldn't come up with the name Therabody, but one late night in a conference room did.

● How Jason got pro athletes using Theragun before the brand ever ran an ad.

● Why Therabody refused to call its face products "beauty," and what it called them instead.

● Why Jason builds products so durable that customers never need to buy a second one.

Why attention is the new brand currency29 Jul 202601:00:13

Every brand wants attention. The best brands know what to do with it once they have it.In this episode, we break down the biggest branding stories of the week to uncover what separates companies that create lasting momentum from those that waste it. From Zara's viral "death pants" and Bayes' brilliant product relaunch to Charlotte Tilbury's battle against dupes, Louis Vuitton's lawsuit in China, Kim Kardashian's latest campaign, and the creator economy reshaping business, every story points to the same lesson: great brands don't panic, they know how to own the moment. We explore why controversy can become an advantage, why authenticity is replacing manufactured marketing, how companies should respond to criticism, and what founders can learn about building brands people genuinely want to talk about.Because in today's economy, attention is easy to buy.Trust, culture, and relevance are not.If you're building a business, creating content, or trying to understand why some brands dominate the conversation while others quietly disappear, this episode is packed with practical lessons on modern branding, marketing, and founder-led growth.🏢 Hire My AgencySerious brand? The Biggest Branding Mistake Companies Keep Making18 Jul 202601:08:34

The best brands don't just sell products; they understand people.

In this episode, we unpack what separates brands that become part of culture from those that disappear into the noise. From Taylor Swift's wedding and Phoebe Gates' startup controversy to Norway's remarkable World Cup campaign and Hollywood's latest blockbuster failures, every story points to the same lesson: great branding starts with understanding human psychology.

We explore why storytelling consistently outperforms marketing, how positioning can create enormous value before a customer ever buys, and why attention alone is no longer enough to build a lasting brand. We also break down what founders can learn from celebrity endorsements, creator-led businesses, sports marketing, and the growing role of authenticity in a world driven by algorithms.

This conversation is ultimately about the decisions that shape perception. Because the brands that win aren't always the ones with the biggest budgets, they're the ones that understand how people think, what people remember, and why people choose to care.

Whether you're building a company, a personal brand, or simply trying to better understand modern marketing, this episode is a masterclass in why psychology will always outperform tactics.

Building in Public Changed Their Business ft. Hot Girl Pickles16 Jul 202600:53:12

Most brands think they need more money to grow.Hot Girl Pickles proved they needed a better story. In this episode, we sit down with the founders behind one of the fastest-growing emerging CPG brands to unpack how they turned a simple product into a cultural brand by documenting the journey instead of hiding it.We talk about why building in public creates stronger communities than traditional marketing, how showing the messy parts of entrepreneurship became their greatest competitive advantage, and why consistency, not production quality, is what actually builds an audience online. The conversation also explores what happens after something goes viral. What actually happens when the biggest marketers, creators, founders and tech companies in the world all gather in one place?
In this first episode of Coffee in Cannes, we're taking you behind the scenes of Cannes Lions—not to recap the biggest parties, but to unpack the conversations that actually matter.
We discuss why experience has become the new marketing currency, what brands are getting wrong about TikTok Shop, why Reddit is becoming one of the most underrated platforms for consumer trust, and how AI is forcing luxury brands to rethink the value they provide.
Along the way, we also explore the changing relationship between taste and technology, why software companies are reshaping the marketing industry, and what we're already seeing on the ground that could define the next decade of branding.
This isn't a recap of Cannes. It's what Cannes is teaching us.

The Billion-Dollar Mistake Killing Iconic Brands!05 May 202601:12:44

Most brands don’t fail because of the consumer. They fail because they lose their identity. In this episode, we break down some of the biggest brand decisions happening right now, from Lululemon’s controversial CEO appointment to Nike’s ongoing identity crisis, and what they reveal about leadership at the highest level. We unpack why great brands fall apart, how companies lose sight of what made them successful, and the difference between building for performance versus signaling for perception. This turns into a broader conversation about leadership, decision-making, and why critical thinking often disappears inside large organizations. We also explore the role of proximity in success, why environment matters more than most people realize, and how founders can think more clearly about growth in a world that’s constantly pulling them in the wrong direction. This is a conversation about brand, leadership, and what it actually takes to build something that lasts.

Why Brands Are Replacing Culture22 Apr 202601:12:04

Most brands today don’t have a product problem. They have a strategy problem.

In this episode, we break down what’s happening behind some of the biggest brand moments right now—from Coachella activations to influencer-led companies—and why so many businesses are confusing visibility with strength.

We get into the difference between fast brands and great brands, why hype can be dangerous if it’s not backed by fundamentals, and how “world-building” has quietly replaced traditional marketing as the way brands win attention.

We also unpack the reality of modern growth: why some companies scale quickly and disappear just as fast, how founders should think about where they spend their money, and what truly matters if you’re trying to build something that lasts.

Along the way, we touch on everything from celebrity brand strategy to founder-led companies, personal brand drift, and why staying relevant today requires a completely different mindset than it did a few years ago.

This is a conversation about what’s working, what’s not, and how to think clearly in a market that’s moving faster than ever.

Coachella Is Over (It’s Just Marketing Now)19 Apr 202601:13:15

Coachella used to be about music. Now it’s about brands.

In this episode, we unpack what happens when culture gets commercialized. From influencer-heavy crowds to brand activations that feel more like content factories than real experiences, Coachella has become a case study in how attention has overtaken entertainment.

We get into why brands are pouring money into events like this, how influencer-led companies are starting to outperform traditional ones, and why smaller brands often make the mistake of chasing the same playbook without understanding the tradeoffs.

This episode turns into a bigger conversation about world-building—what it actually means, why it works, and how brands like Rhode and 818 are doing it well. At the same time, we challenge the idea that fast growth equals great brands, and talk about what it really takes to build something that lasts.

We also break down Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance as a reflection of personal brand drift, and look at what happens when legacy brands like Vogue try to stay relevant in a completely different cultural landscape.

This episode is really about one thing: what happens when everything becomes content—and what brands need to do differently because of it.

Sammy Nusdorf’s Playbook for Meadowlane (How to Build in Public)10 Apr 202600:50:17

Most founders wait until everything is polished before they start talking about their business. Sammy Nusdorf did the opposite.

Long before Meadow Lane opened, he started documenting the process in real time. He shared the decisions, the delays, the mistakes, the product development, and the day-to-day reality of trying to build something from scratch. What came out of that was far bigger than awareness.

He built crazy demand before the doors opened.

In this episode, we talk about what building in public looks like when it is done well. Sammy breaks down why he chose to market the business himself instead of hiring an agency, what made his content connect on TikTok, and how documenting the process helped turn a small grocery concept into one of the most talked-about openings in New York.

We also get into the harder side of visibility. When you build in public, the wins are public, but so are the mistakes. Sammy talks openly about being misunderstood by the media and why controversy, while uncomfortable, can sometimes accelerate a business instead of hurting it.

This is a conversation about attention, authenticity, and what founders need to understand if they want people to care before the product is even finished.

Nobody Wants to Buy Your Product08 Apr 202600:57:50

In this episode of The Art of the Brand, Camille Moore and Phillip Millar break down one of the most important truths in modern business: nobody wants to buy your product unless you create a reason for them to care.

From Erewhon’s psychological grip on the consumer to Alix Earle’s $1 million beauty launch, Victoria’s Secret’s open casting strategy, and the difference between world-building and lazy marketing, this episode unpacks what makes brands break through in a crowded market.
They also get into AI hype, celebrity-led product launches, founder storytelling, sustainability branding, live experiences, and why demand is not created by having a better product alone. It is created by making people feel like they are part of something.

This is a conversation about consumer psychology, relevance, anticipation, world-building, and what business owners need to understand if they want people to care about what they are selling.

They also unpack why Camp Snap cameras are taking over sets, how brands like Medicube engineered celebrity seeding into an affiliate reaction machine, and why Ikea fumbled a once-in-a-year viral moment. The episode closes with Kim Kardashian’s Walmart energy drink strategy, the rise of social-first conglomerates like The Grede’s, and why brands are turning TV moments into product engines.

From beauty backlash to Super Bowl campaigns, this episode breaks down how brands are navigating outrage, algorithms, and attention in real time.

Camille and Phillip unpack the controversy around Huda Beauty, Sydney Sweeney’s guerrilla-style launch, Nike x Skims’ algorithm-native storytelling, and why shows like Heated Rivalry are built for social-first consumption. Why World Building Can’t Be Replaced by AI29 Jan 202601:25:32

World-building is everywhere, but most brands still don’t understand what it actually means. In this episode, Camille and Phillip unpack why branding can’t be reduced to checklists, platforms, or AI-generated output.

From speaking at Harvard Business School to breaking down why Substack, YouTube, and creator-led media are signals, not strategies, they explore how context, creativity, and point of view are becoming the real competitive advantage.

The conversation spans brand patriotism, AI fatigue, binary thinking in business, and why the brands that win in 2026 will be the ones that understand how to build worlds people want to belong to, not just content people scroll past.

Why Influencers, AI & Brands Are Colliding in 202607 Jan 202601:11:03

In this episode, Camille and Phillip unpack the shifts shaping branding in 2026: the collision of influencers and ownership, AI’s growing impact on creativity and speed, why luxury and fashion brands are pushing back on influencer entitlement, and how “well-done but unmemorable” has become the industry’s biggest problem. They break down creator power, parasocial relationships, monoculture’s collapse, viral moments without velocity, and why strategy, not trends, will separate the brands that win from the ones that disappear. This is a candid, high-level conversation about attention, authority, and what it actually takes to build something that lasts this year

132: TV Is Over. TikTok Is the Store. Brands Need to Adapt Fast23 Dec 202501:10:20

This week, we break down the brand and media power shift that’s happening in real time — and why legacy players are losing ground fast.

We unpack why Lululemon feels increasingly irrelevant, how TikTok Shop is now outperforming Sephora and Ulta combined, and why creators with equity (not ad deals) are becoming the most powerful distribution channel in the market. We also dive into the collapse of traditional TV as Instagram launches on smart TVs, YouTube takes over the Oscars, and Netflix moves into podcast-driven sports culture.

Plus: heritage branding’s unexpected comeback, why gorp-core is becoming luxury, what brands can learn from Trump’s media strategy (whether you like it or not), and why rewarding your core audience matters more than chasing mass appeal.

If you’re a founder, brand builder, or operator trying to understand where attention, influence, and revenue are actually moving — this episode is required listening.

Why Trend Forecasting Is Dead17 Dec 202501:20:02

This week on Art of the Brand, Camille and Phillip unpack why traditional authority in branding is collapsing — from Pantone’s fading relevance to corporations losing control of culture in the age of AI. They explore how trends now emerge from crowds instead of experts, why brands like Lululemon lose identity as they scale, and how nostalgia, heritage, and emotional storytelling are outperforming innovation. The episode also breaks down AI’s growing role in commerce, the rise of fake content and outrage cycles, and what Christmas advertising still teaches us about meaning, memory, and human connection. This is a candid conversation about why brands that chase growth, safety, or automation without soul inevitably lose relevance — and what it now takes to earn trust in a hyper-accelerated world.
