S.5 E.14 Suffering is not Final - Grace Is!28 juil. 202600:13:47

Peter finishes his letter with instructions to the elders, the pastors/shepherds of the congregations he is writing to. He encourages them to care for their people dependent on God's grace. God can be trusted in the midst of difficult circumstances so as leaders set an example. Let God's grace prove itself in real life.

S. 5 E. 13 - Suffering and Rejoicing: Strange Bedfellows23 juil. 202600:13:21

You may have watched the movie, "The Passion of the Christ" - the graphic depiction of the sufferings of Christ is difficult to watch. It only showed the physical suffering, we cannot imagine the internal suffering of bearing the sin of every man, woman and child who has ever lived in soul. Down through history the people of God have suffered, the Hebrew people from the inception of their existence, the early church, the church through the Middle Ages and into our present time, God's people have endured suffering. In America we have been insulated from severe suffering, but I wonder if the time is coming when we to will experience the carnage of persecution. Are we ready? Peter instructs us to be ready and one of the primary tools for being ready is REJOICING.

S. 5 e. 12 Love One Another Deeply09 juil. 202600:10:28

Love - Hospitality - Speaking for God - Serving - Praising God = Keys to going through tough times well.

S.5 E.11 Follow the "S" thread.02 juil. 202600:10:55

1 Peter 4:1-7 - Since Jesus suffered - have the same attitude He had.

S.5, E.10 Submission as a Redemptive Strategy II22 juin 202600:15:09

Peter's first letter addresses folks, Christ following folks who are living in a world that is foreign, hostile and uncomfortable. That kind of world is becoming increasingly real for Christ followers today. Peter is concerned that his hearers (that includes us) understand that they are chosen by God, given authority and responsibility and called to represent Christ in this kind of at atmosphere. 1 Peter 2:21-25 invites us to embrace a similar mind set as Jesus, a willingness to suffer in order that those around us see Jesus in us and be given the opportunity to be saved, to be healed, to have Living Hope!

S.5, E.9 Submission as a Redemptive Strategy21 mai 202600:13:48

1 Peter 2:13 - 3:7

Peter lays out a strategy for effecting transformation in the world/culture in 3 very specific arenas; the government, the workplace and the home. His strategy is very counter intuitive. Hope you find this thought provoking.

S.5 E.8 Internal and External Praise Behavior18 mai 202600:12:52

Scripture; 1 Peter 2:11, 12

Being a child of God gives us great privilege. That privilege comes with obligations internally to ourselves and externally to the world around us. Peter begins to spell out those obligations. in these two verses.

S.5 E.7 Great Privilege with Great Responsibility29 avr. 202600:11:23

1 Peter 2: 9,10 = This may be the most amazing description of the persons who believe in Jesus in the entire Bible. Here Peter admonishes us to accept the titles that describe with the responsibility that they are designed for.

S.5 E.6 Living Stones24 avr. 202600:11:42

Scripture - 1 Peter 2:4-8

Theme - God's work is LIVING and He invites us to be be a part of it. This is the third qualities in Peter's letter he describes as "living". Living Hope 1.3, LIving Word 1:23 and now Living Stone/s. God wasys are always life producing, this is a key to discerning what is from God and what is not - Does it produce life or does it end in death?

I would also like to invite you to enjoy a them song for this series in 1 Peter. It is a Phil Wickham song called "LIVING HOPE".

God's Word Carries Faith and Produces Salvation (part 2)16 févr. 202600:10:30

God's Provisions, HIs Salvation, His Life-giving Love, HIs Provision for a healthy soul are powerful, effective and guaranteed BUT we need to respond. Faith & Obedience are the prescribed responses. Just like when the doctor writes a prescription for us, we need to pick it up, take it, use it for it to become ours. In this podcast Peter, Paul and Jesus give us words of instruction and encouragement in exercising the gift of faith.

S.5 E.5 God's Word Carries Faith and Produces Salvation (part 1)13 févr. 202600:12:02

The Word of God is like a Seed that is planted into our lives and produces new life.

God does not force His way into our lives so we need to respond and the primary response we are asked to give is to "Trust and Obey". Peter helps us understand what this looks like.

I hope my words help you discover how you can respond to God in a way that brings new life to your day.

S.5 E.4 What does Faith look like?03 févr. 202600:12:52

Peter begins to take his readers on a journey of discovering how to live out the salvation God has gifted them with. Living salvation in daily life requires "FAITH" but what does it look like. The rest of this book gives us help and encouragement in answering that question. Today's episode talks about keeping our mind in the right place, staying focused on the right things, trusting God who is right, who does things right and makes things right.

S.5 E.3 Salvation23 janv. 202600:14:48

All of us need salvation. Most of us will admit it at least at times. Peter joins the Salvation chorus of scripture as he ministers to the exiles in Asia Minor and to us. God's Salvation is for us today, not just for our eternal destiny, but for our everyday lives.

S.5 E.2 Living Hope - Salvation in Daily Living15 janv. 202600:13:00

The Apostle Peter lived in times just as desperate as we do today. He ministered to people who were confused about their circumstances, struggling with doubts about God and trying to survive in a hostile world. Peter begins addressing these folks with a a reminder of God's mercy and of God's power.
