His family played a crucial role in his survival and growth, with his father ingeniously adapting tools to help Paul paint, draw, and write, thus opening doors to the world beyond his confinement. Paul authored a memoir, "Three Minutes for a Dog, My Life in an Iron Lung," which he wrote using a plastic stick to tap out words on a keyboard. This book took eight years to complete and symbolizes his relentless effort and determination. Paul pursued higher education, earning a bachelor's degree and attending law school at the University of Texas.
