Ross Rifles 01: Character Creation08 Oct 201901:36:59

Over one hundred years ago in October, the Canadian Expeditionary Forces landed in Europe. By 1917 they had command over their own troops and no longer viewed as a colony coming to aid their home country but as it’s own nation.

Who were these soldier? In the next hour we’ll create the character we’ll play in this campaign and get to meet the trench busters of Passchendaele in 1917. And along the way we each share a lot of history between each other and learn more about our own origins.

Meet the Makers: Daniel Kwan & Patrick Keenan04 Oct 201900:27:17

Before we launch into our next campaign, allow me to introduce you to Daniel Kwan and Patrick Keenan from Dundas West Games. Their newest game, Ross Rifles, is launching on Kickstarter TODAY so go check them out and send them your love.

Ross Rifles is a tabletop roleplaying game set in the Canadian trenches of the First World War and in this interview we discuss why Daniel and Patrick chose that setting, how they designed the tools to play the game, and some of the stories and themes we’ll encounter when we play Ross Rifles.

Starting next week, in our next episode, we’ll sit down with Daniel and Patrick to play a full session of Ross Rifles in the trenches of Passchendaele in 1917.

Meet the Makers: Brendan Conway12 Sep 201900:38:21
One more interview before we return to our actual-play recordings.

Recorded live on the GenCon floor we got to chat with Brendan Conway. He's one of the co-owners of Magpie Games as well as their production manager and designer behind Masks, Zombie World, the upcoming Root: The Tabletop RPG, and the newly announced Armored Society!

Over the next half hour we talk the past with Masks, how it came to be and where it's going next, the present with Root: The Tabletop RPG, what to expect next week when we play the game to support their Kickstarter, and the future with Armored Society, where we both nerd out about Irish folklore and get very excited about the story possibilities using a brand new system being developed by Magpie Games.

Ever since kickstarting AchTung Cthulhu they've become a powerhouse in the tabletop community and company fostering new talent and 3rd party publishers. Along with talking about Star Trek: Adventures (because of COURSE Justin wanted to talk about that!) we also learn more about Fallout and the other properties that Modiphious is working on as well as an insight into the 2d20 system and the philosophy of their game designs.

Meet the Makers: James Mendez Hodes06 Aug 201900:26:13
This summer we’re taking time away from playing our games to meet the people who make our games and lead our communities.

Who is James Mendez Hodes? He’s the kind of person where, if you’re in a hallway of game designers and community leaders, he’s the one they say you should talk to right now and record the entire conversation.

Mendez (he/him) is a game designer, martial artist, cultural consultant, professional game master, writer, editor, and poet whom you might know from role-playing games such as 7th Sea, Scion, and Thousand Arrows; or from essays like “Orcs, Britons, and the Martial Race Myth” and “May I play a character from another race?” He has an academic background in West African religion, Eastern classics, dance, and English literature. His interests include hip hop, weird invertebrates, and collecting stuffed animals. He lives in the greater New York metropolitan area on traditional Lenape land.

He runs games, he writes games, he writes about running games.

Forbidden Lands (Part 3 of 3)18 Jun 201901:24:48

For 300 years the Forbidden Lands, as they are now known, has been oppressed by the Blood Mist, a deadly element that will kill anyone not in their homes at night time. And now, for no apparent reason, the Blood Mist is gone and adventurers return to the land to seek out it's treasure, it's secrets, and it's hidden power.

Departing from the hospitality of the Hollows, our adventurers track a group of treasure hunters to the ruins of Weatherstone. They say a king lies there in rest with treasures not touched for hundreds of years. But the dead don't part with their possessions so easily in the Forbidden Lands...

Rocket Resistance: Aftermath (4 of 4)28 May 201901:10:57

Six years after our first Pokemon Tabletop adventure began we're returning for one more absurd romp through the tall grass.

This isn't a tournament, it's a death trap!

Zapdos vs Zapdos. Childhood friend vs Childhood friend. Maniacal Cult Leader vs Subservient Underling. Friendships will be tested, rivals will be rivaled, and at the end of this hour we'll all ask ourselves the same question "why are we doing this"?

This Pokemon RPG is played using Fiasco!

Julian, Cassie, Orie, Bre, and Justin are all back together in Rocket Resistance: Aftermath

Find the gaming materials that Julian made for this campaign exclusively on Patreon: Patreon.com/terriblewarriors

Six years after our first Pokemon Tabletop adventure began we're returning for one more absurd romp through the tall grass.

The call has gone out from the Celebi Battle Blimp. Calling all trainers to the Final Pokemon Tournament!

Rocket Resistance: Aftermath (2 of 4)14 May 201900:58:45

Six years after our first Pokemon Tabletop adventure began we're returning for one more absurd romp through the tall grass.

We've created our characters and set the wheels in motion and ready to dip our toe into this twisted world that we are... entirely responsible for...

We're not playing the original rules we played all those years ago, we're playing with a Fiasco ruleset.

Julian, Cassie, Orie, Bre, and Justin are all back together in Rocket Resistance: Aftermath

Rocket Resistance: Aftermath (1 of 4)07 May 201901:13:27

Six years after our first Pokemon Tabletop adventure began we're returning for one more absurd romp through the tall grass.

We set out to be the very best like no one ever was and after shooting Gary in the kneecap, chasing Pidgeys with a knife, and asking very loudly what your preferred pronouns are we find ourselves in an unrecognizable Pokemon alternate universe.

Set many years after the events of Rocket Resistance 2 we set aside the unwieldy rules from Pokemon Tabletop and embrace a custom made Fiasco playset for our 3rd chapter in the Rocket Resistance saga.

Night Witches is a game that follows the airwomen of the 588th Night Bomber Regiment. They flew in obsolete bi-planes, at night, with no parachute.

Things are desperate. It is incredibly dangerous. They fly in darkness, sometimes a dozen missions each night. The Soviet army wishes they didn’t exist and nobody expects them to succeed. They are going to succeed anyway.
