Bru Time197 - Small Bikes, Massive Miles, & Touring Ireland in a Tuk Tuk with Dean Lambert
Can you really ditch a 1200cc adventure bike for a 125cc mini bike and have MORE fun?
In this episode of Bru Time, Bruce sits down with Dean Lambert from "Monkey Dix Adventures" to explore the growing world of small-CC motorcycle touring. Bru Time Podcast #192 - Dave Ashpole: Army Sniper, Firefighter, and Motocross Lifelong Passion
This week on the Bru Time Podcast, I sit down with Dave Ashpole (@d_ash999), an operational UK Fire & Rescue worker, lifelong motocross enthusiast, and former British Army sniper.
Dave shares his journey from leaving school with no qualifications to joining the infantry, serving on tense combat tours in Northern Ireland, and training the Afghan National Army in 2003. He opens up about the perverse sense of pride that comes with delivering tough news in uniform, the modern "corporate" shift within the emergency services, and why he chooses to view psychological resilience as "mental fitness" rather than mental health.
We also get heavily into the bike talk - discussing the best forgiving off-road bikes for beginners, his ongoing battle with a severe ACL injury at 45, and plenty of lighthearted banter comparing the complete package of the BMW GS to the raw adrenaline of a KTM.
In this episode we cover:
• Dave's background and the childhood spark that started a 2-wheel obsession. • The realities of transition: Going from the "Mob" to driving lorries to entering the Fire Service. • Inside the modern Fire Service: Why modern recruitment is struggling and why veterans miss the old watch culture. • Listener Q&A: Beginner green laning tips, favorite UK tarmac routes (Scotland vs. Wales), and the absolute best/worst bikes currently sitting in his garage. • Mental Fitness: How first responders pack away trauma and the warning signs of hitting a wall.

Ep. 190: Myth-Busting the Outback & Ancient Wisdom with Sid Hewison
What happens when a professional tour guide gets locked down and decides to bring the entire Australian Outback to the world via a GoPro and a drone?
This week, we chat with Sid Hewison of @sids.ventures. Sid shares his journey of selling everything he owned to find his "true calling" in Alice Springs, only to have the world shut down just as he found it. We explore how he transitioned from leading physical tours to educating millions on social media about geology, history, and natural remedies.
We also get into:
The reality of Australia's dangerous wildlife (Spoiler: It’s a marketing ploy).
Initiation into different cultures and the importance of oral history.
Why Sid decided to ride a motorbike around the entire continent with no previous road experience.
The "Coroner's Rule" for making life-or-death decisions in the bush.

In this episode of Bru Time, we welcome back a familiar face: JBL Motovlogs. After a two-year "black hole" away from the scene, Jake returns with a new perspective on motorcycling, content creation, and life.
We dive deep into why he stepped away, the challenges of balancing fatherhood with the hobby we love, and how his riding style has shifted from "fast" to "sensible." Bru Time #187 - The Miracle Man: Nigel Limb (Blind Bloke Racing)
In this episode of Bru Time, I sit down with the truly inspirational Nigel Limb, better known as "Blind Bloke Racing."
Nigel’s life changed forever on December 27th, during a speedway race on Mablethorpe Beach. What should have been a standard post-Christmas race ended in a horrific high-speed crash that left Nigel in a coma with a Diffuse Axonal Injury (DAI)—a brain injury so severe that doctors told his wife, Julie, he would likely not survive, or would remain in a persistent vegetative state.
In this episode, we discuss:
The Crash: The moment Nigel’s speedway bike went straight into a concrete wall at full throttle.
The "Room of Doom": The devastating prognosis Nigel’s family faced and the decision to keep him on life support.
A True Miracle: Nigel’s journey from a 0% chance of recovery to sitting up in a hospital bed just 11 days later.
The Aftermath: The immense mental toll the accident took on his wife, Julie, and how their lives were turned upside down in a matter of days.
Nigel is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the "never give up" attitude of the racing community. Grab a brew and join us for one of the most raw and powerful stories we’ve ever had on the show.

What REALLY goes on behind the scenes in the motorcycle industry?
In this episode of Bru Time, I sit down with Luke Brackenbury — a man who’s spent over 20 years deep inside the motorcycle world. From Performance Bikes magazine to KTM UK, Bennetts, BeMoto and beyond… Luke’s seen it all.
But this isn’t just industry chat…
We dive into:
What motorcycle journalists REALLY think
The truth about influencers vs the industry
Why turning your passion into a job can kill the love
The changing future of motorcycling (and what’s coming next)
The bikes we’d actually spend our own money on
And some properly ridiculous stories from the golden era of bike media…
There’s also a brutally honest chat about mental health, purpose, and why doing what you love isn’t always as simple as it sounds.

Motorcycle theft is becoming a massive problem for riders across the UK and beyond. But what happens when the victim decides to fight back?
In this episode of Bru Time, I’m joined by Matt Neale, founder of British motorcycle security company Fortlox. After suffering multiple bike thefts himself, Matt became determined to design a security system that could genuinely stand up to modern thieves armed with battery grinders and cutting tools.
That determination led to the creation of Fortlox and their flagship security products designed specifically to protect motorcycles in the real world.
We chat about:
The moment Matt decided enough was enough after his bikes were stolen
The reality of modern motorcycle theft gangs
Why many traditional security products simply aren’t enough anymore
The development of Fortlox Protex and X-Series security systems
What riders should actually be doing to protect their bikes
Building a British motorcycle security brand from scratch

'3 Mopeds 3 Peaks' is a 3 peaks challenge for charity - with a difference!
Charlie, Rob and Nathan are three serving & ex-serving members of the British Army who set themselves the task of acquiring, renovating, and then riding, 3 classic mopeds between Snowdon, Scafell Pike, and Ben Nevis, and completing the infamous '3 Peaks Challenge' whilst doing so - all for their chosen charities.
Much beer was involved in the inception of said idea.

Jane Omorogbe was formerly Rio from the hit TV show 'Gladiators', and starred in the Holywood blockbuster 'Gladiator' with an iconic role as the chariot archer who gets cut in half! But that's not the end of her talents.
An accomplished motorcycle journalist, Jane has ridden and tested most motorcycles all over the world, and is now a strength & nutritional coach based in the Netherlands.
Jane has an incredible zest for life and new experiences, and I really loved the time we had to chat together - there's got to be a part 2!

Craig White lost his wife Sarah to Cancer earlier this year, and started his youtube channel Riding Through Grief as a way to help him deal with his grief, but also to hopefully help others in similar situations.
Through the channel Craig has connected with many others, including Gordon Bissell who himself recently lost his wife to the same disease, and together the lads are navigating their own paths whilst helping others along the way.
This is a very raw and emotional episode folks, where we talk openly about grief, our coping mechanisms, and talk through many questions left by listeners/viewers of 'Bru time' who themselves are experiencing their own grief.
