Marla Aaron's rebellious approach to jewelry led to an innovative milestone in December 2017—the installation of their first jewelry vending machine at the renowned Brooklyn Museum. Embracing their pioneering spirit, Marla and her team are currently in the process of building additional machines to make their unique pieces even more accessible.

The collection received further recognition in 2016 when it was showcased at the Museum of American Finance in New York City as part of the exhibition "Gold: Worth its Weight." This exhibit celebrated the collection's distinctive blend of artistry and craftsmanship, leaving a lasting impression on visitors.

Embracing the power of social media, Marla and her team regularly unveil new designs on Instagram, providing followers with an exclusive first look. With an unstructured approach to releases, each design is a surprise, adding an element of excitement and anticipation for fans of the collection.

Marla's philanthropic initiative, the #lockyourmom Project, is a testament to her compassionate nature. Single moms are gifted sterling silver Baby Heartlocks, specially created for them. This heartwarming project has touched the lives of hundreds of deserving single moms across the nation, showcasing Marla's commitment to making a positive impact.

Prior to launching her collection, Marla accumulated over 25 years of experience in marketing and advertising. Notably, she played a pivotal role in the launch of Cosmopolitan Magazine in Spain and orchestrated unique marketing campaigns, including one that involved sending British sports cars home with recipients. However, her true passion lay in designing jewelry, and she pursued this calling wholeheartedly.

Marla is an alumna of Syracuse University and holds a graduate degree in journalism from Columbia University. She currently resides in New York City with her husband, where she indulges in knitting and eagerly awaits visits from her children who are away at college. When not immersed in these activities, Marla devotes her time to designing jewelry and enthusiastically shares her creations and musings on Instagram, inviting others into her imaginative world.

What is the soul? How (and why) should you nourish it?

This week, Rabbi Iggy takes us through theories of the soul in an episode that draws from the wisdom of the ancient philosophes, to the Talmud, to a socialite-turned-nun.

In this episode, Dr. Alexander speaks to Rabbi Iggy about his personal experience with out of body and near-death experience (NDE), which he experienced while in a meningitis-induced coma in 2008.

As humans on this diverse path of life, riddled with struggle, joy, triumph, addiction, transformation and everything in between, we also have an opportunity to FACE the pain of addiction that leads to overdose, and do so together.

It is in this spirit that we also honor those we’ve lost to addiction on this International Overdose Awareness Day.

We do not need to hide from the reality and impact of addiction (nor can we AFFORD to ignore it).

Our oceans cover 71% of Earth’s surface: that’s serious presence. And yet, we mistreat them, fear their majesty, and abandon them to pollution, poison and trash.

From a spiritual perspective, when we start the book of Genesis, we read that God’s spirit floats above the water. This primordial essence, the vital part of our existence, is there: setting the stage, cradling life, and containing all of the world’s potentiality.

Here is a truth that humans do not LIVE into today: We are charged with the care of these sacred waters. There is a physical and spiritual impact here.

The question I ask is:

Is our mistreatment of the oceans and our environment a reflection of our abandonment of our spiritual life? Can we truly build spiritual strength when we act in ways that are disconnected from our physical environment?

Who wants that? There is a great beauty and great advantage to being a person in recovery sometimes. The brownness of it all , serves as an immune to the banality of it all. In the way that the the big book says ” turning your liabilities into your assets we can turn to our distrust of the system, the rejection of normal mores. To help us find wonder. to embrace our higher incomprehension. Not understand and dismiss but to use it as a step towards discovery, something that might seem wondrous. Not to dismiss it because we don't seem to understand it! Doing that feeds our sense of worthlessness and is toxic. Just because we don't understand at this moment does not say we cant. We have to bravely ask, How can this be? How can it exist? Why is it so? To take our maladjustment and to use it as a lens to see the world. To find radical amazement. To experience life and by doing so to live it. To be it. Create practices that help us find our voice and our creativity like silence maybe ? As Father Richard Rohr suggests The ego loves something it can take sides on. Yet true interior silence does not allow you to take sides. That is one reason contemplation is so liberating and calming. There are no sides to take and only a wholeness to rest in—which frees us to act on behalf of love. we have to be challenging conventional wisdom. We have to ask questions, we have to create room for silence and observation and we have to keep finding new meaning. THAT is creativity and from there we get to see what we want to say to the world. To create. To smile when we see beauty that we perhaps created. We have to either find and art or a hobby.. something that we create.... Why is it so hard to talk about sex and intimacy?

We are conditioned to feel shame when it comes to sex, intimacy and our wants. We are not taught how to communicate what feels good to us and what we want from our partners.
