The Cast and Crew of LEGO STAR WARS: REBUILD THE GALAXY - PIECES OF THE PAST (Roundtable)25 Sep 202500:40:56

Today is a very special roundtable interview with the cast and crew of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy - Pieces of the Past, now streaming on Disney+

First up, we have Gaten Matarazzo, also known as Dustin from Stranger Things, and Tony Revolori, from Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel, the most recent Spider-man movies, and the Willow TV show. Just incredible talents, and a really fun interview.

Then we have Pieces of the Past's writers and showrunners, Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit. The audio quality is a little distorted, but it's still a really great chat. (They're working on the new Spaceballs sequel right now, hence my question.)

Thank you again to Gaten, Tony, Dan, and Benji for their time, as well as my fellow roundtable members, including Father. Son. Galaxy., Friends of the Force, Star Wars Explained, Geeky Waffle, Jedi News, and Art of Dad. And thank you to Disney PR for letting me be a part of it! These are always so much fun, and it's always great to bring these chats to my listeners. Thank you for listening!

Star Wars Encyclopedia from DK Books is out and can be ordered now. And my newest book, The Star Wars Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles can be ordered now, as well, and is the perfect gift for the ten-year-old who loves spaceships in your life … or for yourself.

If you're enjoying the show, please head to Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to these episodes and leave us a five-star rating and review! It means the world.

Charles Soule Returns: A Journey into the End of The High Republic and TRIALS OF THE JEDI19 Jun 202500:48:26

This is a very special sit-down interview with best-selling Star Wars author Charles Soule, going in-depth into the end of The High Republic and his latest novel, Trials of the Jedi ... all recorded live from his hotel lobby during Fan Expo Dallas last month.

Charles and I first spoke back in 2023 at Star Wars Celebration London and a LOT has happened in the past two years. We try to cover as much as possible, but just a note: this episode WILL contain major spoilers about Trials, but I will have a moment in the episode where I call out the spoiler section, right before the 34 minute mark.

I always walk away incredibly inspired by one of our chats. He was very generous with his time during a very busy weekend, and I am incredibly grateful for that.

Trials of the Jedi, the grand finale of the fantastic High Republic Initiative is out now, and I cannot recommend highly enough. It is antastic Star Wars storytelling by Charles, and the rest of Project Luminous.

To see what else Charles is working on, head to his website where there is SO much information and great stuff, including some killer store exclusives.

Star Wars Encyclopedia from DK Books is out and can be ordered now. My next book, The Star Wars Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles can be pre-ordered now, coming out this fall!

If you're enjoying the show, please head to Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to these episodes and leave us a five-star rating and review! It means the world.

Dr. David West Reynolds: The Real Life Indiana Jones11 Dec 202401:42:58

Today is an interview with the legendary Dr. David West Reynolds.

This is such an incredible conversation, delving into Dr. Reynold's iconic film archaeology work in Tunisia, as well as the creation of the original DK Visual Dictionaries, The Phantom Menace teaser trailer, and so much more. It's a real thrill of an episode for me.

So thank you so much again to Dr. Reynolds for taking the time to tell his stories and impart incredible advice. His kickstarter for Chasing Raiders is live until December 27, 2024. I have donated, and I encourage you to do the same: support here.

In other news … I co-wrote an official Star Wars book. I cannot believe it. Star Wars Encyclopedia from DK Books is out and can be ordered now.

If you're enjoying the show, please head to Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to these episodes and leave us a five-star rating and review! It means the world.

Dave Dorman: Iconic STAR WARS Artist of Comics and Covers31 Oct 202000:42:54

Dave Dorman is one of the greatest Star Wars artists of all time.

Since the early days of the Expanded Universe, Mr. Dorman's art has been some of the most iconic images of a galaxy far far away. From Dark Empire to Tales of the Jedi, Dark Forces and beyond, it was a real treat getting to dive in a little bit more into his process.

As you know, we don't typically release episodes on Saturdays ... but this is a special episode, brought to you by our friends at Coolwaters Productions, who are currently doing an autograph signing with Harrison Ford. After the interview, we are then joined by Coolwaters President Derek Maki for about 15 minutes worth of a Ford Signing Q&A.

(And there probably won't be an episode this Wednesday, just knowing what Tuesday night has in store and my mental headspace, so I wanted to make sure this at least was published now!)

Here's a direct link to the exclusive Indiana Jones print we were talking about, as well as a ton of other options for the Harrison Ford signing: https://coolwatersprods.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9&products_id=2158

Our live rewatch last night of The Mandalorian Chapter 9 was a ton of fun on Scener. Thanks to all who joined us. We'll be back again with a couple of special guests for Chapter 10 this next Friday, so we'll see you then. Head to scener.com/talkingbay94 to set a reminder and I'll see you there.

Andrew Booth (BLIND LTD): Designing How STAR WARS "Feels"28 Oct 202000:41:06

BLIND LTD's work as a London-based creative studio designing user interfaces for movies, whether it is for James Bond or The Dark Knight Trilogy (or, especially, Star Wars) is simply incredible.

What makes Star Wars feel like Star Wars? This episode dives deep into that question and I enjoyed it so, so much.

Thank you again to Mr. Booth, as well as Helen Baker from BLIND LTD for the time, the patience and the coordination it took to come on the show. For more examples of the incredible work, just open one of your Phil Szostak art books, or head to www.blindltd.com

This Friday, at 7:30 PM Central, I will be live on Scener.com, breaking down Episode 1 of The Mandalorian Season 2. This will be every Friday night this season, with me and special guests pausing rewinding and analyzing every shot and, thanks to Scener's technology, you'll be able to watch seamlessly alongside us!

Head to scener.com/talkingbay94 to set a reminder for this Friday and I'll see you there!

SHE has spoken: Misty Rosas, performance artist for Kuiil the Ugnaught, from The Mandalorian, is on the show today.

Misty's story is incredible and her talent is unmatched, so I hope you enjoy her stories about getting the role, working on set, and listening to Nick Nolte's lines every night, as much as I did. More topics include:

- Her first professional role … at Disneyland!

- Working with Stan Winston Studios on Congo as a Gorilla Artist.

- Stunt work on movies like Hunger Games - Catching Fire and Van Helsing

John Celestri: THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL Animator of Boba Fett14 Oct 202000:23:24

The first time anyone caught a glimpse of the now infamous bounty hunter was in the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special.

Yep. That one.

We talk to Boba Fett's animator, the great John Celestri all about it: how Lucas got involved, what their inspirations were, and just a ton of great stories. Some other topics include:

- Growing up wanting to be an animator (and being self-taught)

- Getting involved with Nelvana (known for Ewoks and Droids), as well as how George Lucas first heard about the studio through Cosmic Christmas

- Inspirations for the short ranging from Heavy Metal magazine and Moebius to Clint Eastwood

You have a week, as of this publishing, to help with Mr. Celestri's Kickstarter and get that Boba Fett sketch for yourself: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/johncelestri/john-the-animator-comicx

Emily Swallow: Who is THE MANDALORIAN's Armorer?07 Oct 202000:23:54

The Armorer herself, the great Emily Swallow, from The Mandalorian, is on the show today. "This is the way."

It was so great to be able to dive deep into her instantly iconic performance. We talk all about what it was like to work in The Volume, be directed by Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow and Taika Waititi, and the influences and experiences she brought to her portrayal. More topics include:

- Bringing the Armorer to life with previous mask work / mime work experience

- Kurosawa's influence on both her character and the Mando set

- Breaking the news to her about the Armorer's Black Series toy

- The (surprise) Season 2 trailer voiceover

- And what exactly a blacksmith advisor was doing on on set!

Gavin Bocquet: Prequel Production Designer, Star Wars Legend30 Sep 202000:52:48

The incredible work that Gavin Bocquet did with his team to bring worlds like Naboo, Coruscant and Geonosis to life in The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, cannot go unsaid.

This is a really rare interview with someone who made an indelible mark on the saga, as well as things like Young Indiana Jones, Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and so many more … and I don't think he's talked in-depth about Star Wars in nearly a decade.

It was a huge honor and a really great conversation. Some topics discussed:

- His early mentorship with Stuart Craig (Saturn 3, Harry Potter) as well as working of Return of the Jedi with Norman Reynolds, as a Draftsman (Speeder bikes and Greeblies)

- Working with Steven Soderbergh on Kafka, his second ever film

- Walking over to his neighbor's house, Rick McCallum, on Christmas Eve  to inquire about working on Young Indiana Jones (later with David Tattersall and Trisha Biggar)

- Of course, the Prequels: collaborating with Doug Chiang and John Knoll, location scouting with McCallum (who wanted to shoot in the Vatican), the Pink / Yellow highlighters

- And wrapping with some serious Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance talk that no Henson fan will want to miss.

Niki Botelho: Teek in Ewoks - The Battle for Endor23 Sep 202000:13:03

We're LIVE and talking to Teek herself, Niki Botelho from The Battle for Endor.

This is a pretty short, fairly rare look inside making the second Ewok film, as well as Niki's return as an Offworld Jawa in The Mandalorian ... and if that was her as Teek in the Star Tours boarding video. (And, of course, since this was recorded live, some of our audio is not as crisp as other episodes, but you'll get over it.)

If you want even more Teek stories, head on over to the most recent episode of Blast Points, where there is almost 5 extra minutes of this interview, which I recorded to help celebrate their Ewok Movie Month.

And, of course, this episode would not be possible without our friends at Galactic Productions. Head to their website for future appearances, as well as a really great stock of online autographs: galacticproductionsevents.com

Next week: my very rare conversation with prequel production designer Gavin Bouquet, who I don't think has talked about Star Wars in nearly 20 years. Wild stuff.

Bruce Nicholson: Two-Time Academy Award Winner for Star Wars and Indiana Jones16 Sep 202000:21:02

With his groundbreaking work on The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark as optical photography supervisor, Bruce Nicholson is an Industrial Light and Magic Legend.

If you don't know what optical photography and compositing is, this episode is a crash course in all of that, including what is was like working alongside the Dykstraflex, mistakes in the end scene of Raiders and … the time he was the first person to suit up in the finished Boba Fett costume.

Next week: Ewok Movie Month Madness, with our friends at Blast Points.

Rena Owen: Bringing Taun We to Life in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones09 Sep 202000:52:36

Star Wars fans will know Ms. Owen best as the Kaminoan Taun We in Attack of the Clones, but she has done so much (including a return in Revenge of the Sith as Senator Nee Alavar).

From humble beginnings growing up in New Zealand, to first working with Temuera Morrison on Once Were Warriors, we went through so much of her incredible career (whether The Orville or Siren, and beyond).

And, listen on to find out what role she was initially cast to play in Episode 2.

Aaron McBride: Designing Maw Monsters, Fathiers and Maul's Robotic Legs02 Sep 202000:46:08

His work has spanned the prequels, the sequels, the spin-offs, Star Wars Insider covers and even the introduction of Darth Maul's robotic legs, so it was a real thrill to be able to dive into the career of Aaron McBride, as well as his process and his inspirations.

Some topics discussed: Blade Runner and Ridley Scott, interning on The Phantom Menace, working with Steven Spielberg on A.I. and Minority Report and what organic beef jerkey has to do with the skeleton pirates from Pirates of the Caribbean.

With Star Wars, we dive further into his work on Revenge of the Sith (ballet dancers, the model shop making lava for Mustafar), Rogue One (working with John Knoll, designing K-2SO), The Last Jedi (Canto Bight, Fathiers), Solo (Maw Monster) and ILMxLAB (Vader Immortal).

Steven Barnes: Author of THE CESTUS DECEPTION and MACE WINDU: THE GLASS ABYSS16 Oct 202400:45:52

Today is an interview with the closest I have ever gotten to a real life Jedi: best-selling author Steven Barnes.

In addition to an incredible amount of science fiction books and stories, Star Wars fans will know Mr. Barnes best as the author of 2004's Star Wars: The Cestus Deception novel and now, 20 years later, this week's Mace Windu: The Glass Abyss.

Thank you so much again to Mr. Barnes for taking the time to impart such passion, wisdom, and inspiration in such a short time. Really just mind-boggling stuff.

His latest novel, The Glass Abyss came out yesterday, and I highly recommend it. Thank you to Meghan at Random House Worlds for setting all of this up. You can buy the book here

In other news … I co-wrote an official Star Wars book. I cannot believe it. Star Wars Encyclopedia from DK Books is coming out next month and can be pre-ordered now. More info to come, believe me.

Silas Carson: The Man Behind Nute Gunray, Ki-Adi-Mundi and Droid Attacks on Wookiees19 Aug 202000:46:56

Silas Carson played 4 different characters across all of the Star Wars prequels, especially known for his iconic portrayals of Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi and Trade Federation leader Nute Gunray.

Yup, same guy.

(Listen closely to when he starts doing voices of these characters and figure out if you can hear me have a minor freak out.)

Mr. Carson's time, stories and incredible charm was such a thrill. I am so proud of this fantastic interview and, as I said over and over again, it was a huge honor.

Noah Segan: From BRICK and LOOPER to THE LAST JEDI and KNIVES OUT (and Beyond)12 Aug 202000:52:12

From Stomeroni Starck in The Last Jedi to his roles in Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Looper and as Trooper Wagner in Knives Out, Noah Segan (and his frequent collaborations with director Rian Johnson) has been simply incredible.

You'll be able to tell … very quickly how much I enjoyed this conversation, from discussing his first meeting with Rian, to some, well, exclusive news about the Stomeroni Starck and Trooper Wagner spin-off shows.

Thank you to Mr. Segan for his time and "silly stories", as well as to friend of the show, Phil Nobile Jr., for connecting us!

Next week's episode is with Silas Carson (Ki-Adi-Mundi), so stay tuned!

Scott Trowbridge: Imagineering Star Wars Galaxy's Edge for Disney Parks05 Aug 202000:34:18

Today I'm talking to Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Creative Executive and Studio Leader at Walt Disney Imagineering, who helped spearhead Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and the land we now know as Black Spire Outpost.

It was a huge honor to learn more about his background, story and experiences, as him and his team created a tangible Star Wars world from scratch, with some fascinating insight into building Batuu.

I want to give a special thanks, as well, to Kevin at Disney Imagineering for his help coordinating, promoting and making this all possible!

Upcoming episodes will include incredible conversations with Aaron McBride, Noah Segan, Silas Carson, and so many more!

Masi Oka: On Designing Effects for the Star Wars Prequels, and the "Hiro's Journey"29 Jul 202000:34:42

You may know today's guest as Hiro from NBC's HEROES, but Masi Oka also worked at Industrial Light & Magic as a Digital Effects Artist on the Star Wars prequels.

We dive deep into his career, both at ILM and about his start in acting. And we focus in on one of his biggest contributions to Attack of the Clones: the effects of the seismic blast on the asteroid belt.

What an incredible thrill it is to have been able to interview Mr. Oka, especially because his character of Hiro Nakamura meant so so much to me growing up. And, now that we've had both him and Greg Grunberg on the same show, maybe it's just time for me to just spin off into a TALKING HEROES podcast.

Next week is my interview with Disney Imagineering's Scott Trowbridge, all about the creation of Galaxy's Edge. Buckle up.

Ms. Whitlatch's contributions to the saga cannot be overstated: whether it was the Dewbacks and new Jabba denizens of the Special Editions, the Podracer pilots or the creatures of Naboo's planet core, I am just thrilled and honored to be able to share her story with you all and I hope you enjoy it as much as you'll be quickly able to tell that I did.

I don't think I've gushed in an interview like this before, but please correct me if I'm wrong. I just want to thank Ms. Whitlatch again for the incredible, incredible interview.

In the upcoming episodes, we'll have Disney Imagineering's Scott Trowbridge, as well as Masi Oka, who you may know as Hiro from HEROES, but who also worked at ILM during the Prequels. (I've teased quite a few more guests on our Talking Bay Twitter and Instagram accounts, so follow there to stay up to date.)

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK at 40: An Anniversary Celebration21 May 202000:23:36

Today May 21, 2020 is the 40th anniversary of the best movies (and one of my favorite movies) of all time: The Empire Strikes Back.

With the two year anniversary of this podcast happening this week, as well, I thought it would be fun for me to go back through the past 65 or so episodes of this show and pull some of my favorite moments from some of my favorite guests, as they talk about what it was like, firsthand, to work on the sequel to Star Wars.

If you know me at all, this look back focuses mostly on the special effects: Industrial Light and Magic's move from Van Nuys to San Rafael, the Hoth sequences, the Tauntauns, the walkers, and go motion.

I'll be introducing the previous guests who are talking throughout, but just know that it is a combination of ILM wizards, legendary editors and unsung heroes. I'm talking about a total of 16 Academy Awards won in this 25 minute episode.

So let's all just buckle up and take a trip back even before that 1980 release, before we knew who Luke's father was and before anyone of us had ever even seen The Empire Strikes Back.

Dan Madsen: Creator of the STAR WARS INSIDER and STAR WARS CELEBRATION13 May 202000:36:44

If you've ever read an issue of the Star Wars Insider or attended Star Wars Celebration, you've got today's guest, Dan Madsen, to thank.

Founder of the Lucasfilm Fan Club, Mr. Madsen got his start as the president of the Star Trek Fan Club, eventually coming to LFL in a time when there were no new Star Wars movies being made.

Whether talking about those early days of the magazine, his cameo in The Phantom Menace, or the rainy start of Star Wars Celebration Denver, Mr. Madsen's love of the fan community and his passion for projects like Her Universe is evident in every answer.

It really is an honor to have Mr. Madsen on the show, if only to thank him profusely for the Insider articles that are still some of the best, most comprehensive resources out there, for Star Wars fans.

Make sure to check out his newest venture, Svaha, filled with some incredibly cool clothes and apparel, focused on STEAM, at: svahausa.com

Ahmed Best: The Man Behind Jar Jar Binks09 Oct 202400:08:47

Today is an interview I have wanted to record since I was 8 years old – the incredibly talented Ahmed Best. He, of course, played Jar Jar Binks beginning with Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, as well as Jedi Master Kelleran Beq beginning with Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge and most recently in Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

He changed movie-making forever, and is currently working to change the rest of the world too.

This was recorded live at this summer's Rebel Scum Con and was a true dream come true.

Thank you so much to Mr. Best for taking the time to impart such passion, wisdom, and inspiration in such a short time. Thank you as well to manager Zach Avino and Alliance Appearance Agency for making this happen. Their next appearance together will be at SpaceCon San Antonio.

In other news … I co-wrote an official Star Wars book. I cannot believe it. Star Wars Encyclopedia from DK Books is coming out next month and can be pre-ordered now. More info to come, believe me.

If you're enjoying the show, please head to Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to these episodes and leave us a five-star rating and review! It means the world.

Sam Witwer: Playing Starkiller, Voicing Maul and Hyping The Siege of Mandalore29 Apr 202000:55:04

You may know Sam Witwer as Starkiller from THE FORCE UNLEASHED and, of course, the voice of Maul in THE CLONE WARS, REBELS and SOLO.

But, right before we talked (just a few days before the first episode of THE SIEGE OF MANDALORE premiered), he tweeted "this may be the best thing we've ever done", so we had to talk about that first.

After that, though, just buckle up for almost an hour of incredible stories, lore and the importance of "George Lucas Star Wars".

You can find him on Twitter at @SamWitwer and on Instagram at @switwer1, as well as his website: samwitwer.com. His newest album, REVENGE OF THE CRASHTONES is some great music to blast while working from home.

Until next time, stay tuned, leave a five star review …

Dennis Muren: The Man With the Most Oscars Alive12 Feb 202000:29:21

Well, this is wild: today's conversation is with an absolute effects legend ... 9-time Academy Award winner, Dennis Muren.

This is honestly a dream come true and our conversation did not disappoint: from the landmark achievements of original trilogy's space battles, the Temple of Doom's mine car chase, Willow's morphing, Terminator 2's liquid metal and more … we dive into so much of Mr. Muren's incredible career.

From Star Tours to the prequels to the future of CG and movies, I feel very fortunate to have been able to talk to him. I hope you all enjoy hearing his stories and experiences (and I hope you were able to tell that I was smiling so hard the entire time).

Rest in Peace: Alan Harris (1938 - 2020)31 Jan 202000:14:31

Hey everyone, it's Brandon. I just wanted to take a second and put this episode (Episode 47, from this past fall) back in your feeds because today it was announced that Mr. Alan Harris had passed away at the age of 81.

I am so glad I got to meet him and chronicle his story. He was so generous with his time and such a delight to be around. I hope you enjoy this brief window into his experience with the saga and its fans, and spend a second to remember someone who gave so much to this community.

Alan Harris is perhaps most famous for portraying one of the most iconic aliens in Star Wars: the fearsome bounty hunter Bossk, in The Empire Strikes Back.

However, he had roles in each of the Original Trilogy, as well as returned to the saga briefly, two decades later, to appear in The Phantom Menace. From being the first person to wear a Boba Fett costume (now the famous white "Prototype Fett") to becoming the mold for Han Solo in Carbonite, Mr. Harris' contributions to the saga are both so surprising and so important.

RIP Alan Harris.

Michonne Bourriague, Nalini Krishan, and Amy Allen: The Women of the Prequels02 Oct 202400:22:53

Today is a very special three part episode, recorded live at this summer's Rebel Scum Con … I interviewed three different talented actresses from the prequel trilogy: Michonne Bourriague who played Aurra Sing in The Phantom Menace, Nalini Krishan who played Barriss Offee in Attack of the Clones, and Amy Allen who played Aayla Secura in both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

This is such a blast of an episode … I am such a fan of all three of these very talented, very kind people and it was such a thrill to finally talk with each of them. It warmed my little prequel kid heart to do so.

Make sure you are following each of them on social media:

Our last episode from Rebel Scum Con is coming next week ... the long-awaited interview with Ahmed Best so … stay tuned.

In other news … I co-wrote an official Star Wars book. I cannot believe it. Star Wars Encyclopedia from DK Books is coming out this fall and can be pre-ordered now. More info to come, believe me.

Even Talking Bay 94 producer Jason gets out on the mic to help me ask the big questions all about design and Easter Eggs in his work.

Paul Dini / Stephen Langford: Legendary Writer of BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, as well as EWOKS and DROIDS10 Nov 201900:05:48

For those who do not know, my day job is as VP of Marketing for FANGORIA (the horror movie magazine and production studio). And, as part of that job, I interviewed Paul Dini (BATMAN:THE ANIMATED SERIES) and Stephen Langford (FAMILY MATTERS), who both scripted one of the episodes of Shudder's CREEPSHOW.

But, of course, I had to ask them about EWOKS and DROIDS. Dini was an associate producer on both, as well as writer, and Langford was a writer and collaborator (including, non-chronologically, the final episode of EWOKS: "Malani the Warrior".)

They both were great sports about the curveball question and I thought I would clip it out as a special Sunday bonus episode for TB94. Enjoy!

Phil Tippett: The Legendary VFX Artist, on the Cantina, AT-ATs and the Rancor30 Oct 201900:31:05

We're talking to one of my heroes, one of the people who has been at the very top of the list to have on this show from the very beginning ... two time Academy Award winner, the legend: Phil Tippett.

From the Cantina reshoots to the Dejarik chess table to the AT-AT stop motion to the ILM Return of the Jedi creature shop, Mr. Tippett was one of the driving forces of, not only the Star Wars world we know and love, but also the visual effects landscape as a whole.

It is really an honor to have him on the show. I haven't stopped smiling since. It was literally a dream come true.

Be sure to visit MadGodMovie.com for information on how to watch his latest project and be sure to seek out Mad Dreams and Monsters, the new documentary about him, coming soon.

Alan Harris: The Man Behind Bossk, Boba Fett, Han Solo in Carbonite25 Sep 201900:15:28

Thank you to Zachery McGinnis from Galactic Productions for coordinating this interview. Check out his website for the latest appearances and celebrity autographs: http://www.galacticproductionsevents.com/

Misty Rosas Returns: Frog Lady (and Much More) in THE MANDALORIAN18 Sep 202400:11:31

Today marks the return of the great Misty Rosas, incredibly talented performance artist behind Kuiil and Frog Lady, as well as the Ugnaught First Mate "Smee" and the Snaggletooth Bartender in all three seasons of The Mandalorian.

There is so much to catch up on since the last time "she has spoken" on this show … way back on Episode 84.

Misty is always such a joy to talk with. She is such an inspiration, and embodies so many of my favorite characters in The Mandalorian.

Make sure you are following her on Instagram, @MissMistyRosas

More episodes from Rebel Scum Con are coming VERY SOON, including Amy AllenMichonne Bourriague, Nalini Krishan, and Ahmed Best so … stay tuned.

In other news … I co-wrote an official Star Wars book. I cannot believe it. Star Wars Encyclopedia from DK Books is coming out this fall and can be pre-ordered now. More info to come, believe me.

Bill Slavicsek: Influential Writer of the West End STAR WARS RPG04 Sep 201901:00:03

Today's conversation is with one of the most formative voices in Star Wars, as we know it today, Mr. Bill Slavicsek, writer, game designer and Creative Director for West End Games and Wizards of the Coast

From naming alien creatures like Ithorians, Quarrens and Sullastans to shaping what we now consider to be the "voice" of Star Wars, we take a fascinating look at the early Expanded Universe and the journey from the sourcebooks to The Clone Wars and Rebels.

If I didn't gush enough about his memoir, Defining a Galaxy, below are links to purchase both the physical and digital copies in the description. It is truly worth your read.

Galactic Innovations: Marcia Lucas, Ben Burtt, Dennis Muren, John Knoll and John Dykstra05 Jul 201901:08:24

So, I did something dumb.

When The Academy announced a panel featuring Marcia Lucas (!!!!), Ben Burtt (!!!!), John Dykstra, Dennis Muren, John Knoll, Harrison Ellenshaw (TB94 Episode 18), Richard Edlund (TB94 Episode 19) and many more ... I bought a ticket. And then it sold out.

The event was in Los Angeles on a Thursday and I, well, live in Dallas. So I booked a flight, flew out to California and ended up having the time of my life.

Here's a fun, quick listen about my trip, both my experience and some snippets from the panel. It is probably the closest I'll ever actually get to getting Marcia Lucas on this show.

And definitely check out The Academy and all of the great events they are doing: https://www.oscars.org
