Episode 6 Part 1 – Tails of Hope: Deepti Jandial’s War for Compassion in Concrete Cities
What if kindness became a crime in your society? What if feeding a starving soul brought you threats, theft, and heartbreak?
Meet Deepti Jandial, an individual feeder and rescuer from Mumbai, whose daily act of compassion—feeding street animals—is met with aggression, threats, and apathy. Food bowls she places are kicked, stolen, or flung. She’s beenthreatened by educated elites who say, “We’ll throw you out of the building.” The cops? Silent spectators, playing Taichi with accountability.
Deepti shares her unfiltered story, not forsympathy—but so you understand what it truly means to stand up for the voiceless. These aren’t just dogs—they’re souls like Chocolate, who faced brutal intimidation. Or Bourno, a mother who watched her newborncrushed by a man who chose his ₹50 lakh car over alife. “Kutte ka pilla ya meri car?” he said, coldly.
Deepti feeds, rescues, and heals animals—fundedentirely from her own pocket. With no institutional support, her love stretches across fur and hope:
Deepti fights not just cruelty, but ignorance—likethe myth that “stray dogs bite.” She teaches: They bite when you're threatening. Not because they're dangerous—but because they’re scared.
🧡 Don’t just scroll.
🎧 Listen to this fearless voice who chooses love in a world that forgets the voiceless.
📢 Share her story. Support every silent warrior who feeds without fanfare.
They don’t want medals. They just want the bowl notto be stolen, and a life not to be crushed.

Tails of Hope – Episode 5 Finale 🎧
Guest: Roxanne Davur – Founder, Probably Paradise Shelter, Karjat
Topic: Caring for Over 460 Voiceless Souls – The Realities of Rescue in India
Roxanne Davur doesn’t wear a cape—but if you ask the 460+ animals under her care, they’ll tell you she’s their angel.
As the founder of Probably Paradise Animal Shelter in Karjat, Roxanne has devoted her entire life to the service of the voiceless—be it street dogs, abandoned cats, injured cows, donkeys, horses, or other farm animals society often neglects. Her shelter is a rare sanctuary in India that doesn’t discriminate between species, age, or medical condition. From critical care to emotional healing, she and her team manage it all—with limited resources, no PR machinery, and an unwavering sense of purpose.
In this heartfelt conversation, Roxanne opens up about the systemic gaps in India’s veterinary education, how training for large animal care is almost nonexistent, and the urgent need for policy and infrastructure reform in the animal welfare space. She speaks passionately about her effort to train young staff, raise hygiene standards in clinics, and change mindsets that treat both animals and vulnerable humans—especially women and children—as disposable.
She also talks about how Probably Paradise is not just a shelter—it’s a school, a hospice, a training ground, and a haven for animals who would otherwise never know safety. Whether it's comforting a terminally ill dog, assisting with field rescues, or trying to give dignity to an abandoned horse, every moment is a battle—and a blessing.
The journey hasn’t been easy. The shelter is largely self-funded, running on Roxanne’s personal savings and the kindness of a few loyal donors. She was once in the process of acquiring an additional 100 acres of land to expand the shelter, in collaboration with the late Sir Ratan Tata. But after his unfortunate passing, those plans are now paused. Yet, Roxanne remains undeterred. Her resolve to create a better world for animals has only deepened.
🔥 This episode is not just a story—it’s a call to conscience.
If you’ve ever believed that animals deserve dignity, that compassion should extend to all living beings, and that heroes walk among us in the quietest corners—then this episode is for you.
🙏 We urge you:
➡️ Listen to Roxanne’s story.
➡️ Share it with your tribe.
➡️ And if you can, support Probably Paradise Shelter.
Every donation, every wishlist contribution, every voice raised makes a difference. Help keep the hope alive—for every paw, every hoof, every feathered or furry soul who still waits for a chance to feel safe, loved, and seen.

Tails Of Hope India - Asha Ambekar Episode 1 Part 1
Saison 1 · Épisode 1
vendredi 14 mars 2025 • Durée 32:25
Tails of Hope Podcast – Episode 1, Part 1
🎙️ Guest: Asha Ambekar – Founder of Shashwat Foundation
🐾 Topic: Rescuing, Rehabilitating & Giving Hope to Strays in India
In our very first episode of Tails of Hope – Voices for the Voiceless, Hope for Every Paw, we are honoured to have Asha Ambekar, the incredible Founder of Shashwat Foundation — a sanctuary of hope for countless stray animals who otherwise would have no one to care for them.
Asha's story is not just about animal rescue — it’s about compassion, resilience, and creating hope for the voiceless. What started as a personal mission after witnessing the heartbreaking plight of stray animals, soon turned into a full-fledged animal welfare movement through Shashwat Foundation.
But the journey wasn’t easy.
When asked what inspired her journey into animal welfare, Asha shared a deeply moving story of a wounded dog left abandoned on the roadside. That moment shook her. While most people walked past the dog, Asha stopped, carried it to a vet, and stayed by its side. That day, she knew — she had to become the voice for the voiceless.
What followed was a lifelong mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome stray animals who had no one else to turn to. Over the years, Shashwat Foundation has:
✅ Rescued and treated hundreds of injured and abandoned animals.
✅ Facilitated adoptions, ensuring strays find loving forever homes.
✅ Promoted compassion and community involvement through awareness programs.
But the work is far from over. Every day, there’s a new dog, cat, or bird needing urgent care.
Asha also opened up about the harsh realities of animal welfare in India:
- Severe neglect of strays, leading to avoidable deaths.
- Limited medical infrastructure for injured or sick animals.
- Outdated laws like the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, which offers minimal protection.
- Public apathy toward animal suffering.
Her message is clear: "If we don’t act now, the voiceless will continue to suffer in silence."
But not all stories end this happily. Thousands of animals still live in neglect, starvation, and abuse — and this is where Shashwat Foundation steps in every single day.
Asha humbly admitted that the biggest challenge her foundation faces is limited resources. With over 30+ strays under their care at any given time, the foundation constantly struggles to meet:
✅ Medical expenses for critical cases.
✅ Food and shelter for abandoned animals.
✅ Sterilization and vaccination for population control.
✅ Emergency rescues from abuse or injury.
👉 And this is where YOU can make a difference.
If Asha’s story has touched your heart, we urge you to:
🐾 Donate – Every rupee can save a life.
🐾 Adopt/Foster – Give an animal a loving home.
🐾 Volunteer – Help in rescues, rehabilitation, or social media awareness.
🐾 Share – Spread awareness so more people can step up.
👉 To support Shashwat Foundation, please visit: [Donation Link]
As we wrapped up Part 1 of this heartfelt episode, Asha said something that stayed with us:
"We may not change the world for every animal, but we can change the world for one animal at a time. And that’s how hope is created — one paw at a time."
Her message is a powerful reminder that kindness is a choice — and every time you choose compassion, you help change a life.
👉 If you would like to support Asha Ambekar’s work, please consider donating to Shashwat Foundation or getting involved.

Tails of Hope – Episode 5 Part 1: AVoice for the Forgotten Giants 🐄🐕❤️
In this deeply moving episode, we sit down with RoxanneDavur, Master Trainer in Animal Welfare (Govt. of India) and the heart and soul behind Probably Paradise Shelter in Karjat. A woman of fierce compassion and unyielding determination, Roxanne shares the raw, unfiltered truth of what it takes to rescue and rehabilitate the forgotten animals—both small and large—who’ve been discarded, neglected, and left to suffer in silence.
For over two decades, Roxanne has dedicated her lifeto nurturing and protecting those without a voice—dogs, cats, cows, buffaloes, horses, donkeys, and more. Her shelter is home to over 460 animals, and every single one of them carries a story of pain, resilience, and hope. Whetherit's a paralyzed dog, a blind donkey, or a malnourished horse left to die, Roxanne and her team step in when no one else will.
In this heartfelt conversation, she speaks about:
🌿The lack of medical infrastructure for large animals and the urgent need to reform veterinary education, including how 60+ vets were trained just to handle horses.
🌿The overhaul needed in traditional animal care systems, with many rural beliefs resisting basic medical intervention for farm animals.
🌿The reality of shelters working on borrowed funds, training their own staff to assist in vet work due to the scarcity of reliable support.
🌿The mental and emotional toll of being a woman fighting for voiceless souls in a world where both animals and women are often considered commodities.
And yet, amidst the struggle, she shares tales of triumphand transformation—of severely injured animals who walk again, of neglected lives rediscovering love, and of community members gradually opening theirhearts to compassion.
But the road is long and funds are short.
The shelter runs primarily on Roxanne’s personalsavings and the unwavering support of a few loyal donors. She had been in the process of expanding this sacred haven by acquiring an additional 100 acres, in collaboration with the late Mr. Ratan Tata—a visionary who deeply believed in her cause. Sadly, with his passing, those plans are currently on hold. But the dream still lives on, and Roxanne can’tcarry it forward alone.
If you believe animals deserve dignity, safety, andcare…
If you believe that hope must be kept alive for every paw and hoof...
Then now is the time to act.
💌Listen to this no-frills, no-filter episode. Feel every word. Share it.
💝 If Roxanne’sstory moves you, please support her mission through donations or the shelter’sAmazon Wishlist.
Because in a world that too often turns away—
She chooses to stay.
She chooses to fight.
And she chooses love. Always.

A cancer survivor, a man of compassion, and a fierce protector of voiceless lives, Sarang opens up about the raw, unfiltered journey of building SAWO from scratch—without fame, funding, or fanfare. Guest: Sarang Rajwade | Founder |President,SAWO (Stray Animal Welfare Organization)
In Episode 4 Part 1 of Tails of Hope,we bring you the remarkable journey of Sarang Rajwade, a cancer survivor, street animal warrior, and the passionate force behind SAWO — Stray Animal Welfare Organization, based in Talegaon, Pune.
Sarang shares not just the story of founding SAWO, but also the ground realities of animal rescue and recovery inIndia. With unshakeable commitment and limited resources, he and his team have responded to countless emergency calls — from accident victims to abandoned pets — navigating each case with urgency, empathy, and a warrior’s spirit. His hands-on involvement in rescue missions and unwavering belief in second chances sets him apart.
In this heartfelt conversation, Sarang walks us through the behind-the-scenes struggles of rescuing injured strays, the challenges of treating life-threatening conditions like Canine Distemper and Rabies, and the sheer emotional weight of critical cases. Tails Of Hope - Varnika Sing Episode 3 Finale

🐾 Tails of Hope — Episode 3 Finale
Guest: Varnika Singh | Head Legal Consultant, FIAPO
In this heartfelt finale, we are honored to feature Varnika Singh, a fierce voice for India’s voiceless animals and Head of Legal Consultation at FIAPO (Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations).
With over 14 years of legal expertise and a Master of Laws from NLU Bhopal and Lewis & Clark's prestigious Center for Animal Law Studies, Varnika has dedicated her career to making animal cruelty not just visible, but actionable under the law.
In this episode, Varnika offers sharp insights into why The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 (PCA) — one of India’s oldest animal protection laws — has sadly failed to meet the needs of animals in a rapidly modernizing world. While the Act was drafted in a different era, its lack of stringent penalties and weak enforcement leave countless animals vulnerable to suffering.
But the issue runs deeper than legislation.
Varnika highlights the real hurdle: public apathy and a severe lack of awareness. She believes that until every individual recognizes animals as sentient beings deserving compassion and legal protection, laws alone will never suffice.
Through her work, Varnika has shown how communities, corporates, and individuals alike can become champions for animal rights:
💡 Communities must be the first responders to cruelty, not silent bystanders.
💡 Corporations can lead with ethical policies and cruelty-free practices.
💡 Individuals can adopt, advocate, and amplify — every voice matters.
She also reflects on cultural traditions — some that uplift, and others that exploit animals — and shares her vision of a future where India leads the world in ethical animal treatment.
For those who believe change is overdue, Varnika reminds us:
"Animal welfare is not an option. It’s our moral duty. Awareness is the first step, and action is the next."
If you or someone you know faces or witnesses animal cruelty — you don’t have to stay silent. FIAPO and Varnika are here to assist.

As the Co-founder of Samayu, Varda has spent years working at the intersection of animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and social justice. Her work has helped transform policies, empower grassroots activists, and create lasting impact for the voiceless animals in India.
But what sparked her journey?
When asked what inspired her to dedicate her life to animal welfare, Varda shared how witnessing animal cruelty as a child deeply affected her. Through Samayu, Varda has worked to:
✅ Reform laws for better animal protection and welfare.
✅ Educate and empower communities to take action.
✅ Promote plant-based solutions for a more sustainable world.
However, the challenges remain immense.

❌ Factory Farming & Cruelty – Millions of animals suffer in factory farms with little to no welfare measures.
❌ Public Apathy – A lack of awareness and empathy worsens the plight of strays and farm animals.
Varda strongly believes that policy changes, public awareness, and grassroots activism are the key to solving these issues.
