| Testing the Depth | 20 oct. 2026 | 00:40:43 | |
After a gruelling series in Africa and two fast paced Bledisloes, the All Blacks have accumulated the largest injury list in their history, basically forming a squad of walking wounded that would beat most international teams. So what does this mean for their chances going forward into the Northern leg of the Nations Cup? This time the depth really will be tested. Hosted on Acast. | Bereavement Leave | 30 sept. 2026 | 00:44:10

| Flying too Close to the Sun | 31 août 2026 | 00:48:52 | |
This week on the pod, Test Two is done and dusted and South Africa almost had a massive aviation disaster on their hands as the celebrations got a little too wild in Cape Town. The All Blacks did everyone a favour and kept the Greatest Rivalry interesting by letting the Springboks get one on the board. It’s all to play for in Game 3! And one man has made himself the main character, soaking up a lot of attention from pundits and fans alike. We ask, who would play him in the movie of his life? Probably Rassie. Hosted on Acast. Can the AB’s take that same speed and physicality into the first test and claim the first scalp against the world champions? The boys preview a possible starting 23 including standout performances from Anton Segner and Rieko Ioane and we talk Rennie vs Rassie - who can outsmart the other and take the spoils? | The Second Coming? | 10 août 2026 | 00:41:54
This week on the pod, the boys review the first game of the tour against the Stormers and discover that everybody just needs to chill out. The Springboks go and prove that new player combos don’t work for anyone, as they barely scrape past a feisty Argentina side. And the NPC is back and the Ranfurly shield is on the move already has Canterbury run salt into the Otago would they opened last season. Hosted on Acast. | Summation or Summary? | 23 juil. 2026 | 00:47:30
Dave Rennie has started off his All Blacks coaching career in style, with 3 from 3 in the Nations Championship and a team that looks hot to trot. The boys discuss some of the stand out performances from the series and look toward the tour of South Africa. Is Beauden Barrett’s time finished at 10, or will he don the black jersey once again? And the ref blaming went to new extremes this week with Argentina losing their shit after suffering defeat at the hands of England and the Irish just can’t stop moaning about Nic Berry - despite dropping the ball 15 times and missing 32 tackles. | Finally | 15 juin 2026 | 00:36:03
It’s time for the grand final and it’s exactly the final we all wanted. Hurricanes vs Chiefs - the two best teams in the competition facing each other in the ultimate showdown for the first time ever in the history of Super Rugby. It’s shaping up to be one of the greatest finals of all time. Will the Hurricanes home advantage give them their first championship in 10 years, or will the Chiefs break their finals hoodoo and take the trophy they’ve been so desperately close to claiming for the last few years? It’s gonna be a doozy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Shoulda Gone Straight to Semis | 10 juin 2026 | 00:46:19 | |
This week on the pod - after all that, it’s the top four as it finished in the regular season. Go figure. The Hurricanes & Chiefs secured their spots with big wins over the Aussie sides…and the Crusaders convincingly put away the Blues in what was really just a dead rubber. The Blues took the lucky loser card and get a chance to square up once again this weekend. We also saw some BIG HITS and some big injuries that have left some key players in doubt for the semi-finals, and it seems well and truly like HIA protocols are optional these days! Will the Chiefs finally lift their Crusaders hoodoo? Will anybody turn up to the Cake Tin? And who deserves this final two spots in 2026? Hosted on Acast. | Three Quarters | 04 juin 2026 | 00:42:14
This week on the pod, it’s time for three-quarter finals. We preview the upcoming games: who will make it to the next round, and who will be the coveted lucky loser? Could the Hurricanes and the Chiefs suffer upsets to their bogey teams, the Reds and the Brumbies? Or will home advantage be too much for our Aussie counterparts? And the Blues face a seemingly impossible task of playing in front of a sold-out Te Kaha Stadium against a rampantly building Crusaders side. Don’t say it. Don’t say it. Hosted on Acast. | It’s Kids Round!!! | 27 mai 2026 | 00:43:32
This week on the pod, it’s the final round of the regular season and there’s 4 team fighting for their place on the ladder. And the ridiculous ‘lucky loser’ system is back again this year, meaning someone will get through even if they lose their quarterfinal - make it make sense! Angus Gardner was up to his usual tricks - telling players off like a deputy principal or shocked granny. And With no Will Jordan, and no DMac, this weekend’s games are very much up for grabs. Will the big 2 rest their star players ahead of the finals? Or should they put the foot on the throat? Make sure to tune in next week as we have some very special guests joining us for a finals preview! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Knocked the F*** Out | 20 mai 2026 | 00:41:01 | |
This week on the pod, it’s crunch time in Super Rugby Pacific with two big rounds to go before the finals. Some epic match ups are on the cards, with 3 confirmed teams in the playoffs and 7 others all vying for spots in the top 6. It really could go each and every way. Will the Hurricanes continue their dominance and claim the title of minor premiers, or can the Chiefs chase them down? And with a horrific injury to Caleb Tangitau, who’s in line to be our All Blacks wingers? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Oh Deary Me | 13 mai 2026 | 00:46:41 | |
This week on the Smack! The boys discuss the finals before the finals - as the top teams of the competition all face off against each other in the dying rounds. Are the Crusaders timing their run to perfection YET AGAIN? Was the Horse ban just a elaborate ruse to lull us all into a false sense of security before they cast their biggest spell? There is some serious controversy stirring around the refereeing decisions this season, with some shocker calls across multiple games - and the people are outraged. The Chiefs hang on against the Reds in the Battle of the Bogans in Queensland and a Hurricanes B team give Moana another spanking. Will the injuries to Ruben Love and Cam Roigard leave the Canes exposed heading into finals time, or have they got a good enough team to push on through? Hosted on Acast. | Backwards Out Of The Hands | 05 mai 2026 | 00:45:46
This week on the pod, Round 12 is done and dusted with some big results! The Reds stake their claim as the top Aussie side, as they send the Brumbies tumbling further down the table. Has Les finally given them the kiss of life? The Force sneak past the Tahs to stamp their mark on the comp at the business end of the season. Could they make a playoff or is it just a bit beyond reach? The Hurricanes topple the defending champion Crusaders in Wellington and reclaim their spot at the head of the table. Have they got the legs to go all the way? And the Blues give their farewell to Moana with an ultimate thumping out at Albany - but not without some fancy free kick moves from the home team. All this and more! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Just a Super Weekend! | 28 avr. 2026 | 00:44:25 | |
It was a super time at Super Round this weekend in Christchurch. The team headed down to the Garden City for the opening of Te Kaha, One New Zealand Stadium and it was a banger! 5 sold out games and plenty of action. The Crusaders gave their fans an opening night to remember as they put away the Waratahs with a hat trick from Dallas McLeod. The Hurricanes once again showed their dominance by destroying the Brumbies on Anzac Day with flying Fehi Fineanganofo inching ever closer to the all-time try scoring record for a single season. And it was only fitting that we went to Super Point - with the Reds and the Blues taking it down to extra time in a nail biter. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| The Hundy Club | 21 avr. 2026 | 00:37:13 | |
This week on the pod! It’s no longer a theory - it seems well and truly evident that if you have a player celebrating 100 caps, you’re guaranteed a win! There’s something about a centenary celebration that gees the boys up something chronic. And this weekend was a shining example. Luke Jacobsen got his 100th crown, battering the Hurricanes defences and clinching an extra time win to see the Chiefs top of the table. Finlay Christie’s hundredth saw the Blues hold on for dear life, as the Highlanders tried but failed to get a win. And it was another 100 capper that saw one of the biggest upsets of the weekend - as the Force rallied around Harry Johnson Holmes to topple the Crusaders in Perth, making it two losses on the road for the reigning champions. It’s certainly going to be a doozy of an Anzac weekend at Super Round in Christchurch. We’ll see you there! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Quit Horsing Around | 15 avr. 2026 | 00:39:15 | |
Two major tragedies were thrust upon Super Rugby this week as both the Crusaders horses and Moana Pasifika officially get the axe from our great competition. Is this the future of Super? One axing at a time? In other news, it was poetry in motion as the Canes keep their No.1 status, with a decent thumping of the Blues, as Cam Roigard cements himself as the best halfback - probably in the world. The Chiefs pound Moana into literal non-existence to setup a thrilling top of the table clash next week in Hamilton. And the Crusaders faced the wrath of the hurting Reds side, as the 100th celebration to Filipo Dangunu geed the boys up to a historic win, the first at home against the Crusaders since 2011. Goes to show, anything can happen in this comp! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| It Started With A Kiss | 07 avr. 2026 | 00:40:41 | |
It’s Easter and you know what that means! Only 3 games of Super Rugby? WTF? Weirdest decision since the inclusion of the Sunwolves. The Easter bunny brought a second consecutive thumping for the Queensland Reds, as the heat turns up on soon-to-be Wallabies coach, Les Kiss. Poor bugger. What has happened to the Brisbane men and can they bounce back to stay in the top 6? The Chiefs finally answer some critics with a tasty performance, albeit against a seriously average Waratahs side. And the Crusaders do what they always do - start to push the throttle in when it counts as they absolutely devastate the Drua at the last ever game at Apollo Projects Stadium. God help us when they move to Te Kaha… Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Friday Night Lights | 29 mars 2026 | 00:43:04 | |
It was lights out both figuratively and literally this weekend as the Hurricanes switched off the Reds like an old lamp and the stadium lights went down at North Harbour Stadium, just as Highlanders started their one game winning streak. The Brumbies will regret not celebrating James Slipper’s 100th game for the franchise, as the Tahs sneak past them for an upset, thanks largely to Angus Gardner. The Chiefs barely scrape by the Force as they still struggle to find their rhythm. Newly crowned Prince Peyton continues to shine in his father’s footsteps as part of a killer Blues backline, and Ruben Love has had a lovely hair treatment and is looking better than ever. | Slip It In | 24 mars 2026 | 00:40:59
This week on the pod, the boys discuss some big wins that are shaping the comp. The Hurricanes continue their habit of whooping everyone’s arses as Ruben Love tears the Highlanders apart - can they continue doing it to the top teams when they come along? The Blues build their momentum with a comeback win in Sydney and some lessons in refereeing from Beauden Barrett. And the Chiefs pull out a Chiefs classic, and throw the game away against the Brumbies in Canberra as James Slipper gets yet another award for something. Hosted on Acast. | If you go out in the Rain | 17 mars 2026 | 00:42:09
Round 5 is done! It was cats and dogs in Fiji, as the Drua took all the angry energy from not being allowed to perform ‘Na Bole’ at the start of the match, to punish the Brumbies - and all because someone up to at Super Rugby thinks it’s too hot? The Hurricanes cruise to the top of the table, but now the hard games start. Can they hold on to their first place spot? Moana’s defence continues to plague them as the Blues knock up 40 at Eden Park. And the TMO might need to do some sim training, as they forget what constitutes a try and deny the NSW Waratahs a chance against their old foe the Queensland Reds. Hosted on Acast. | A Hat Trick of Hat Tricks | 10 mars 2026 | 00:42:54
Round 4 of Super Rugby saw a rare hat trick of hat tricks in two epic 50 point rompings as the Chiefs and Hurricanes taught Moana Pasifika and the Waratahs a sorely needed lesson. And to add insult to injury, Joseph Sua’a’li’i is out for 6 weeks - will it actually make any difference? Two of our most cherished All Blacks returned to the field and made immediate impact - are Beauden Barrett and Damian McKenzie still our best? It looks like it! And there’s one question that needs answering - can the Crusaders win without Will Jordan? All this and a review of that very weird down trou from Salakaia-Loto! Tune in! Hosted on Acast. | Fair Dinkum | 04 mars 2026 | 00:35:09
The Aussie fans are going nuts, as their Super Rugby sides do a clean sweep of their Kiwi counterparts in a rare exciting weekend for Australian rugby. Could we see an Aussie side claim a trans-Tasman title for the first time in 12 years? Probably not. But maybe…just maybe. And if it’s anyone, it’ll be the Brumbies. On this week’s episode we review the round that was, with some seriously award-winning tries, a fair bit of biff, and a fair bit of rain. Can the Chiefs bounce back after a painful loss to the Crusaders, will the Hurricanes be able to play rugby again on a dry pitch? And there’s all to play for in a derby to end all derbies as the Blues host the Crusaders at Eden Park. Will it be NZ victories or will more up the Brum for the Kiwi teams. Hosted on Acast. | Gimmie Moor Moor Moorby | 24 févr. 2026 | 00:50:42
Round 2 is done and it was a right rutting in the capital, as the Canes powered up in their bye week to well and truly murder Moana Pasifika for the 4th time in the capital. Fehi Fineanganofo decided to ruin Gareth’s fantasy with a team-effort pass in the in goal, that saw Josh Moorby take a hat trick on his first game back for the Canes since his standout season in 2024. The Chiefs gave the Highlanders a familiar dose of almost, as they powered to another win at Forsyth Barr. And the Crusaders… oh the Crusaders… lost for the second time this season to the mighty Brumbies, who look every bit a championship winning side and are duly doing their part as the cockroach of Super Rugby. | It’s a Miracle! | 17 févr. 2026 | 00:49:59
It’s Round One of Super Rugby Pacific 2026! On the pod this week, the boys dissect the first games - equal measures of entertaining romps and snorefests! The previously wooden spoon Highlanders do what few teams ever can, and best the mighty Crusaders. Will they continue their form, or will it be another year of mediocrity for the southern men? And what will they do if Jamie Joseph toddles off to the ABs in a few weeks time? The Chiefs continue their winning ways against the Blues, with some key All Blacks stepping up when it matters. It’s a miracle in Fiji, as super-captain Fai’ilagi takes the reins from Ardie Savea and leads his team to a statement win, including a hat trick of tries for the man himself. And the comp heats up in Aussie, with some big scorelines, setting the tone for what’s to come. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Super Rugby is turning 30 the Super Smack boys are on the way to the party with at least a six pack of Speights or non-alcoholic seltzer. In this episode, the lads preview the 2026 season, discuss Super Rugby’s evolution, panic a little bit about missing players, overreact to pre-season form, and immediately make predictions they’ll deny ever making. Coaching changes, team dynamics, dedication (or lack thereof) to fantasy rugby - it’s all here. | Rugby Was the Winner on the Day | 26 nov. 2025 | 00:54:32
Rugby is all done and dusted for 2025 and it’s been an absolutely epic year - or a rather turbulent one if you’re Razor Robertson and the All Blacks. With a couple of pretty big losses, the All Blacks will be champing a the bit to prove the naysayers wrong with next year’s tour to South Africa and the inaugural Nations Cup. And Super Rugby turns 30 next year and we reckon it’s gonna be a doozy. We’ll be covering all the games, every week of the competition, so tune in! | The Lesser of Two Weevils | 18 nov. 2025 | 00:46:59
It happens once in a blue moon - the All Blacks lose to the English at Twickenham. Not since 2012 have the Red Roses secured a win over the men in black on their home soil. And they did it in emphatic fashion as only the Poms can, by singing a well known slavery song at top volume over the haka. A classic colonial move, but boy did it pay off. After a solid start from the All Blacks, the English ran over the top of them, dominating them in almost all facets of the game. New Zealand have had a big old year, and the poms knew it - even Henry Pollock was literally licking his lips at the chance to topple the mighty AB’s. As people call for his head on a spike, where to now for Razor? Will we see him ring the changes for the last test against Wales, or will it be same-same one last time in 2024. One thing we are sure of is… poor Wales don’t stand a chance. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| McKenzie the Brave | 11 nov. 2025 | 00:48:05 | |
It’s 2 from 2 in the Autumn Series for the All Blacks, as they eye the ultimate prize - a grand slam. The AB’s were too good in the end for a valiant Scottish side, who had to drag themselves back from a 17-0 drubbing by half time. But it was one All Black in particular who broke the hearts of 68,000 Scotland fans, and cemented Murrayfield as the All Black’s spiritual home-away-from-home. Sir Damian of McKenzie showed up half way through the second act once again to put on a dominant performance and guide New Zealand to a much needed victory. Covered in blood and black tape, he manoeuvred through the Scottish like a wiley old fox and proved he is the ultimate super-sub and frankly irreplaceable. Can he do it against England? Or will Razor Robertson change things up at Twickenham. The boys preview the upcoming match, the possible lineups and ask the big question - how many yellow is too much yellow? Hosted on Acast. | Splitting the G | 04 nov. 2025 | 00:47:05
Revenge is sweet. It’s even sweeter against Ireland. Yes the All Blacks have made in three in a row now against their new foe and it seems like it’s back to the old days. We dissect the mess of a game it was, unjustified red cards and sloppy performances. But there is a silver lining! The final twenty is back and it’s looking as All Black as ever. We preview this weekend’s matchup at Murrayfield. Will the Scots put up a good fight, led by the fishmonger Finn Russell? Or will the men in black be too powerful in the end? It’s grand slam hopes on the line for NZ, and a first ever chance at victory for highland men. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Deep Dish | 28 oct. 2025 | 00:40:56 | |
It’s take two in Chicago, as the All Blacks and Ireland meet for the second time at Soldier Field. Can the men in green bring down New Zealand once again or will a well-honed All Blacks side prove too good, as they look for their first Grand Slam northern tour since 2010. We have a new NPC champion - and it’s EXACTLY who you’d expect. Yes Canterbury have done it yet again - winning a title after a woeful season the year before. The forever kings of rugby are crowned once more - and it’s bloody annoying. Poor Otago put up a valiant fight, but ultimately got dealt to like a naughty school boy. Oh well, there’s always 2037! | Battle of the South | 19 oct. 2025 | 00:37:37
The NPC has finally reached its peak, as we head into the grand final. And it’s only fitting that the number 1 & 2 teams from the competition will face each other in one last clash. Will the in-form Otago win their first title since 1998 and lock away all the silverware til next season, or will Canterbury do what Canterbury do best, pipping teams when it matters most. Who will win the battle of the South and take the crown as national provincial champion? We discuss the upcoming 2026 tour of South Africa and take a trip down memory lane as we recall our early morning wake up calls from our rugby mad childhoods. Hosted on Acast. | Cam-eth the Hour | 14 oct. 2025 | 00:42:07
This week on the show, we dissect a thrilling quarter final round in the Bunnings NPC, as four teams get one step closer to the title. Otago make a clutch play through first-five Cam Millar (and a rather dodgy drop goal attempt) to push out a valiant Mooloos team in the dying seconds. Season leaders Canterbury get the scare of their life from the spirited Counties Manukau underdogs, but manage to scrape a win together in extra time, in true Canterbury fashion. And it’s two wins for the two Bays, as they see out the two T’s - Taranaki and Tasman. We preview this weekend games - who will win the battle of blue & gold and will the Magpies pick at a tired Canterbury carcass and fly off to their second final in two years? Either way, we’ve decided that the NPC is the greatest rugby competition on earth…behind Super Rugby of course. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Close, But No Cigar | 06 oct. 2025 | 00:56:49 | |
On this week’s show we dissect the final round of what has been one of the greatest and closest Rugby Championships in recent memory. The All Blacks managed to back up the Eden Park victory with another win over the Aussies in Perth, making it 11 straight victories over the old foe. We discuss the stand-ins and the stand-outs. Have we finally found our centre pairing or is there more gold to be mined on the northern tour? The finals of the NPC are upon us and it promises to be a doozy - can Canterbury and Otago continue the dominance they’ve shown all season or will one of the underdogs claim the upset. | 23 More Years, Boys | 29 sept. 2025 | 01:01:00
This week on the pod, the Bledisloe is back. Well it never left! For the 23rd year in a row, the All Blacks win the unnecessarily giant trophy. And the poor old Wallabies are furious at the ref, who they’re well and truly blaming for the loss. The Springboks are just showing off now, and being a right pain in everyone’s arses by being the best at absolutely everything. The All Blacks still have a chance of winning the Rugby Championship, if South Africa have something go terribly wrong, like, I dunno…food poisoning? And the NPC tables have turned, as current champions Wellington miss out on a finals berth and Otago hold the shield for the summer! What on earth is happening??? Hosted on Acast. This week on the pod, the boys in blue are taking the shield back to Dunners! That’s right, Otago have stolen the shield from Canterbury for the first time since 1948, and in emphatic fashion. The NPC continues to turn it on in 2025 , with more big wins this weekend, including a 75 point demolition of Southland by a storming Wellington Lions. What do the playoffs hold in store? And this week it’s battle of the Kiwi coaches, and another record on the line at Eden Park, as the Wallabies try for their first Bledisloe in 23 years. But they’ll have to get past a sore and angry All Blacks side, who will be looking to put some demons well and truly to bed. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week on the pod, the Wellington curse continues as the All Blacks get absolutely spanked by a rampant Springboks side in the biggest and certainly one of the most embarrassing losses in the history of our great team. How the hell do they bounce back from this one, as they head into another Eden Park defence against the Wallabies in two weeks. The NPC rubs salt into the wound for the Super Smack boys, as Wellington and the BOP both take losses and have their seasons hanging in the balance. There is one shining light however, the Black Ferns are showing us how it’s done, as they progress to the semi finals of the World Cup in England. Hosted on Acast. This week on the pod, the boys bask in the glory of a solid victory against the Springboks at Eden Park, making the record an even more impressive 51-0. Ardie Savea brought up his 100th in style with the most epic of turnovers. We discuss his spiritual leadership within the team and ask - should Scott Barrett should still be captain? And who’s going to step in for Emoni Narawa now that Sevu has gone to work for ANZ Bank? The Wallabies get back to the ways of old, with a brave and and decisive victory against the Pumas in the 86th minute. And the NPC continues to impress with some big wins and the Ranfurly Shield bounces to another province yet again after just one week, as Canterbury make a firm statement as title contenders against a battered Southland Stags. This week on the pod, the NPC continues to impress as the Southland Stags travel up to Hamilton and steal the shield from one-hit-wonders Waikato. It’s the biggest thing to happen to Southland since cheese rolls. Will it make it back to Invercargill in one piece? Canterbury continue their winning ways, as the only unbeaten team, and what the hell is happening with rugby in Auckland, as the teams either side of the bridge fail to secure a win so far this season. We preview the biggest game of the year - the All Blacks vs Springboks at Eden Park. Will the All Blacks maintain their 30 year unbeaten record or will South Africa take back the title as the world’s best team - it’s do or die this Saturday. Hosted on Acast. This week on the poddy, the All Blacks have one too many scotch fillets in Buenos Aires and succumb to some serious indigestion against a rampant Pumas side. Will Jordan has his worst game in the All Blacks jersey - and we all thought he was invincible! The Ranfurly Shield is heading off to Hamilton, as one old veteran, replaces another old veteran, to stage a second half comeback in Taranaki. The Taniwha make history but smashing a woeful Auckland side at yet another empty Eden Park. Bay of Plenty and Wellington have fallen off the wagon, and boys are not happy. All in all, a pretty average week for the Super Smack team. Oh and the Springboks beat the Wallabies, which was bound to happen after last week’s upheaval. Hosted on Acast. | How to Dethrone a King | 18 août 2025 | 00:49:53
This week on the poddy, the Wallabies have done what pretty much nobody thought they could - they’ve slain the King on the doorstep of his own bloody castle. Wallabies 38 - Springboks 22 at Ellis Park! Will they do it again next week or will the green machine come remember they’re world champions? The All Blacks continue their winning ways with a pretty convincing victory over the Pumas in Argentina, albeit a bit scrappy. It looks like this year’s Rugby Championship could be anyone’s trophy to claim. Watch this space! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
