Mumma Matters: How the Menstrual Cycle Affects Motherhood07 May 202501:03:48

Ever feel like you’re drowning in exhaustion, snapping at everyone, or just not yourself, only to realise your period’s due?

In this episode, I chat with Kasi from Flo & Thrive about the powerful link between our menstrual cycle, motherhood, and mental wellbeing. We explore how hormonal changes can affect our mood, energy, and ability to cope with the daily mental load of being a mum. Kasi walks us through each phase of the cycle and shares gentle, practical ways to track it, spot patterns, and show ourselves more compassion (especially when the guilt creeps in). She also opens up about navigating Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and how understanding her cycle helped her support her mental wellbeing and feel more present in motherhood.

Being Mum, Carer, Advocate07 May 202500:38:41

I chat with Michelle about the unpredictable and often overwhelming journey of motherhood, especially when navigating the world of SEN parenting, raising a child with additional needs and medical challenges.

From Autism and Hip Dysplasia to the complexities of ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) and Perthes Disease, Michelle shares her personal experiences and how they’ve impacted her mental wellbeing. We talk openly about the emotional rollercoaster of parenting a neurodivergent or medically complex child, the heavy (and often invisible) mental load mums carry, and the weight of societal expectations that can leave many feeling like they’re not doing enough.

Michelle speaks honestly about how crucial the right support system, both professional and community-based, has been for her, and how she’s found resilience in the face of ongoing challenges. Her story is a powerful reminder that even in the hardest moments of motherhood, small wins matter, acceptance is healing, and no mum should feel alone in their struggle.

Staying Mum, Surviving Breast Cancer07 May 202500:37:40

In this powerful and honest chat, I sit down with Esther Shaw as she opens up about being a mum with breast cancer, after being diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at 41.

We talk about the raw reality of motherhood during treatment, trying to keep life going for your children while your own world feels like it’s falling apart. Esther shares how parenting didn’t pause, even when the chemo started, and how she found strength in the everyday moments, from turning up to appointments to simply getting through the next hour.

Our conversation explores the deep emotional impact of surviving breast cancer, the loneliness of treatment during lockdown, and the toll it’s taken on her mental health. Esther also reflects on the long-term healing, physically and emotionally, that continues, even five years on. Her story is a moving reminder of the resilience within motherhood, and the importance of speaking openly about the mental and emotional side of cancer.

Trailer: Launches 7th May 202528 Apr 202500:00:50

Welcome to The Super Mumma Podcast... a space for real, honest, Mumma-to-Mumma conversations about motherhood without judgement.

Because even if our experiences aren’t the same, motherhood connects us.

Through shared stories, support, and honest chats, I hope you'll find comfort, connection, and a reminder that even on the toughest days, you are a Super Mumma.

Let’s get the conversation started!

Sometimes, two mums chatting on the sofa can make the biggest difference to how we feel.

Through these conversations, I’ve learnt so much, helping me feel less alone, understanding more about why I’m feeling the way I am, and even finding ideas for where to get extra support. And that’s what The Super Mummahood is all about.

Mums sharing their stories, supporting each other, and reminding ourselves that even if our experiences aren’t exactly the same, there are always parts we can relate to, because motherhood is what connects us.

I hope you’ll join me for these bi-weekly conversations, and that they bring you comfort, connection, and a reminder that even on the toughest days, you are always a Super Mumma.

Let’s get that conversation started!
