Rachel Easley discusses, WorkDay, a new program that will help employees transition to a digital paperless system. WorkDay is a website and mobile app that allows employees to access their payroll statements, personal information, register for 401, sign up for health benefits, and make changes whenever necessary. The program also offers new features such as year-to-date totals on pay statements and the inclusion of home addresses, making it easier for employees to provide necessary information for various purposes. The target date for the rollout of Workday is September 27th.

Pilot Program - Kyle Mentzel, Independant Contrator DMOL

Kyle Mentzel discusses the new partnership between Stevens Transport and Pilot Flying J, highlighting the benefits for both company drivers and independent contractors (ICs). The deal includes free showers for a month with a 50-gallon fill-up, four times as many points with fueling at Pilot Flying J compared to Loves, and 20,000 more parking locations than Loves. Kyle emphasizes the importance of utilizing the Pilot Flying J app to take advantage of the deals and reserve parking spots, which can lead to increased earnings for ICs. Stevens Roundtable - Mike Unser, Lead Examiner at Stevens Transport, Shares CDL Testing Tips- Mike Unser, the lead examiner for third-party testing at the Stevens School, joins the Stevens Transport roadside radio podcast to discuss his role and the CDL testing process. Mike emphasizes that drivers should not be nervous when they come to take their tests, as they have already been trained and prepared by their instructors. He shares that the school aims to schedule two to three tests per examiner per day, highlighting the numerous opportunities available at Stevens. Mike also reveals that his wife played a significant role in bringing him to Stevens, and he initially planned to work there for just a year. However, he quickly felt like part of the family and has been with the company for over 23 years. Mike's advice to drivers going through the school is to listen to their instructors and follow their training, as it will prepare them for success in their tests.

However, with the addition of Safety Plus, drivers now have access to a range of new features.

These include in-cab alerts, custom geofencing, high-risk corridor alerts, real-time traffic alerts, and a weather alerting system. Driver Spotlight: Crystal Donaldson

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Crystal Donaldson is current a driver, contractor, and on the road to becoming a driver trainer at Stevens Transport.

Crystal began her driving career in April of 2020 when she enrolled in CDL training classes with Stevens Transport. Drawn in by the longer length of the training, she was impressed with the company’s dedication to their drivers, trainers, and students’ career opportunities, naming it the “best all-around training program” from start to finish.

Now that she has experience on the road, Crystal is looking forward to becoming a trainer for future truckers. She also has aspirations to start a secondary business with her own fleet. While Crystal has several goals she hopes to accomplish in her trucking career, she is grateful for the flexibility at Stevens Transport that allows her to reach these goals.

As a woman in the trucking industry, Crystal admits that things aren’t always easy. She has experienced negativity from others who don’t believe women belong in the field and aren’t afraid to show it through words and actions. Driver Spotlight - Ismael RubioIsmael Rubio discuss his role at Stevens Transport as a shop driver, what got him into trucking, and the joys of occasionally having his wife and son ride with him over his 12 years as an over the road truck driver.

 Ismael, a member of the Stevens Transport family since 2010, came to the trucking industry looking for a career that would allow him to travel the country. Having now traveled to all 48 states, Ismael was able to make a great living and do the traveling he desired, all while getting to experience it with his family too!

 Now working as a shop driver, Ismael wears several hats, such as road-testing equipment and picking up the new trucks to add to the premier Stevens Transport fleet. “It is an exciting role for me, my little niche of the industry, that allows me to be home more often with my children,” said Ismael.

Stevens Transport is proud to have Ismael, and his family, as members of the Stevens Transport family. We are extremely thankful for Ismael’s dedication to his career with Stevens for over a decade.
