Mary welcomes back historian William Federer to bring us the sweeping history of Iran, from Genesis 10 to modern times. And it’s a wild ride. Who were those Persians? Dating back to Elam, grandson of Noah, they have occupied a huge part of world history, biblical and secular alike. We will look at those biblical skirmishes, the middle ages, and the rise of the British Empire when Islam was forced to grapple with the then-Christian element of Europe. As we look at the Ottoman Turks, who started out as friends of the Jew following their expulsion from Spain, we find that just when the Ottoman Empire started to disappear from the world scene, Zionism arose and -surprise! – oil entered the picture as nation states began to industrialize. Then it’s on to shahs and ayatollahs and the 1970s under Jimmy Carter who gave us Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthis, simply by campaigning for the Ayatollah over the Shah. Didn’t I warn you it’s a wild ride? And all of it valuable history as we try and make sense of our world. Mary welcomes back Creationist Russ Miller to explore the area of apologetics most attacked by secularists. Because, if there is no young earth, no flood, no instantaneous creation of the heavens, then death ruled before Adam and Eve fell; it also undermines the simple gospel. The fact that the church continues to increasingly accept the Old Earth (millions and millions of years) theory of creation tells us that some pretty basic Genesis facts are being ignored and/or rejected. Of course, Peter in 2 Peter tells us that they “willingly forget” various creation details and that pesky flood, which also stands for the judgment of a sinful world. We talk about the continents, star light and time, and rock strata. Russ is one of those very knowledgeable creationists who truly can defend the faith in a sound, biblical manner.

We also look further at Ai, last week’s news of Moltbook as a bot social media platform was entertaining enough. Today’s headline is something about bots looking for humans to do tasks for them and pay them in crypto. Scam, or testing the waters to see how gullible we are? We may never know. We also look at the dark shadow of transgendering our kids, a shameful chapter in American history brought to you by people who hate America, the family unit, and our kids especially. So much to chat about, a full hour of wondering what in the world is next while keeping our lamps trimmed and shining brightly.

Mary welcomes back Pastor Andy Woods for another engaging conversation about things we need to stay on top of: first up is antisemitism. As shocked as we all were with the university protests back in 2023/24, now that those have faded from the headlines, now what? That is the challenge for us all because antisemitism continues to ramp up and if we go numb to it, we are missing a key element in making sure the perpetrators are held accountable. We also look at Jared Kushner’s Gaza plan, part of the Peace Board. So many moving parts here, but rebuilding Gaza is the number 1 goal and it might not take as long as people might think. Also on the agenda: military buildup near Iran; Noah Harari’s somewhat unhinged comments about religion and sacred texts. You cannot make this stuff up but existential types like him have no problem translating our world into an Ai dystopian-antichrist friendly-transhuman-God hating-nightmare. Today’s news cycle takes us beyond simple chatbot Ai and into the next wave: Agentic Ai.  Simply trying to keep up with advances in Ai tends to give the impression that people are up 24 hours a day making changes to all the expectations, and rearranging what we think we know into something we cannot possibly truly understand. Ai is completely upending all we know about how the world works, and redefining everything from the military to the work world, to finances. So many questions are going unanswered, but from a human standpoint, what does it do to our uniqueness as human beings, our free will, our morality? Who is running this show? A full hour on tech that is will not be obsolete next week – but we might.

On this week’s headline podcast, Tim and Mary take on some of the huge changes that are causing societal upheaval. First we talk about the entirety of the climate hoax and how it appears that nations and institutions are backing off a bit on the hysteria. Why? Because, well, it’s a hoax and while they will never admit that, the economics of it tells the tale of the tape. Not only is the stodgy legacy media going dark about it, but the UK itself is feeling “the heat” of failure in the form of manufacturing decline and citizen suffering on a day to day level. When we have to ask “what is an Irishman anyway?”, it’s gone too far but no one is available currently to stop it. We also look at other dynamics of such policies, and who is Amelia, anyway? Mary welcomes back JB Hixson to talk about trends in the church that bear continual surveillance. Putting together 10 was no challenge at all. So what are we watching? Everything from the state of biblical authority to tech to self-induced isolation from each other. And when you throw in the rise of preterism and the waning of dispensationalism, that tells us an awful lot about interest in the blessed hope. Americans are unique in the world in our emphasis on independence and personal freedoms – that “personal relationship” that is not meant to be stuffed into a bottle but translate into evangelizing, fulfilling the “one anothers” and bearing each others burdens. But all too often all we are seeing is the warning that Paul gave Timothy about the last days and lovers of selfism. Choosing a church based on emotion and what’s in it for us is a community killer. And so many of these trends reflect that, the busy busy church that really doesn’t even disciple, as if being busy is the mark of a Spirit-filled congregation. And just as Paul warns us what flows from selfism is very bad, so it would seem – and a lot of it is, well, really bad. A very full hour with Pastor JB.

Today we take a look at the momentous events in Iran. From the 1950s overthrow by the CIA of an elected prime minister, to a shah, to the ayatollahs, Iran has had a rich and long world history. How are today’s headlines significant in the scheme of things, including Israel? Why did God give a mention to the Persian empire in Daniel? What is the nature of protests here regarding Iran? We look in-depth at several key bits of information, including the role of the Shah’s son as he tweets encouragement across the fruited internet.  Since Iran is in Bible prophecy we have to at least peek into what is going on. We also look at the United States of Protest, where mob rule, a lynch mob mentality, just might get worse this year. We already know who is fomenting and sponsoring it, buy why do people seem so attracted to all that anger? Because they have been told to be angry? What can we learn if we put both nations side by side? Well, Americans fighting for freedoms they already have is one way to look at it, while Iranians are dying for significant life and death issues.

Mary welcomes back Olivier Melnick to talk about the shocking levels of what we might call “totalitarian antisemitism” that exist and why things are so much worse today than in the 1930s and 40s. While the Nazis had their propaganda machine that reached far into Europe, it was nothing compared to the digital propaganda machine we are staring at day in and day out. We discuss the five reasons why we have surpassed that 20th century evil day, and what it means for our world. For anyone who was around then, this concept should be especially frightening, even for those who grew up in the 1960s and 70s, we have to wonder how this was allowed on our watch. We also look at the fear factor for those who live in places where their safety is compromised, and how the pressure to disavow their identity adds to the problem of “erasure”.  A “refusnik” was historically a Jew who was denied the right to leave Russia for Israel from the 1950s to around 1990 when Russia finally allowed Jews to leave. Here in 2026 it also means someone who refuses to allow their culture to be erased. How can we be refusniks, and encourage, stand with, and support those who need a dose of courage in light of this global problem? What other ethnic/race/culture would be allowed to suffer such malevolent wrongdoings, except the Jews?

With the “dog days” of Summer upon us, and the Europeans still clueless as to what true Summer heat is like in the south, we bring post-Independence Day headlines. In this uniquely lazy time of year, finding connected headlines is very difficult so we have a real smorgasbord of information. Yet we can always find a way to point to God’s faithfulness and His soon return. Today we have a few thoughts on the 4th in hindsight, namely a thoughtful piece from Ken Ham about how we can sing “God Bless America” but refuse to follow Him and His commands.  Then we look at some of the perils of the upcoming primary and election season, as the uber-radical left attempts to swing our nation so far left it might end up at the fascist right. We also look at the perils of allegory in Bible interpretation, and a new experimental vaccine that might just be the vaxx-to-end-all-vaxxes, which tells us one thing in particular: it was never about a virus, always about a vaxx. A full hour of slightly disjointed but interesting headlines for the Summer of ’26.

[Original airdate 1/30/25] In this installment of Stand Up, we explore the archaeological evidence for the Exodus with Creationist Brian Young of the Creation Instruction Association. If you are a student of the Bible and believe it is the Word of God from beginning to end, you might not ever have asked this question over, say, a 7 day creation issue or any other hot topic in the church today. If you ask scholars, or even just generative Ai, you will get the answer that it is a myth and it doesn’t matter because, well, what a great story! But this approach is largely secular – and dangerous. Because history, and especially biblically archaeological history is so exhilarating, we should welcome any evidence that all those people who lived so long ago were part of one of the great events in Israel’s history, and it speaks of a God who tells us exactly what He wants us to know for His good purposes. Given that Israel had grown to represent a fairly large number over the 430 years, evidence of their lives should be available in one form or another. A fascinating topic for discussion and study.

Today Tim and Mary take a look at 2025 and 2026 – by the numbers. We look back at the top prophetic stories, and forward at the challenges to the church. We also look ahead at the top tech trends, what can we expect? So far, 2026 has proven to be a challenge in that we didn’t get too far into it before we saw what seemed to be emerging as a rumours-of-war state of affairs. What will the Venezuelan action bring regarding other nations that export drugs and terror? Will Trump stop with Venezuela, or are Cuba, Mexico and Iran on the block too? What to make of a shaky start for the year? There are so many avenues to travel down, and we don’t know the general future, but we have a great roadmap in the Scriptures regarding the mountain tops of prophecy. It’s what happens in the valleys that keep us guessing, and so we do the headline thing, to keep us on our toes. A full hour, early in the new year.

Today on Stand Up For The Truth’s new podcast, Dave Wager sits down with longtime friend and global missionary Don Shire of DSM International. Don shares how God took an ordinary guy with a trumpet and opened doors to ministry in 38 countries, using music to draw crowds and the gospel to change hearts. Along the way, Don watched needs rise up right in front of him, and those needs became real, boots-on-the-ground work: orphan care, schools, church building, widow ministry, and training local believers to serve their own communities.

The heartbeat of the episode is simple and personal, God still uses willing people. Dave anchors the conversation in 1 Timothy 2:1–4, calling listeners to pray, intercede, and give thanks, and reminding us that God desires people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. On this final headline cycle of 2025, we find ourselves looking at headlines that aren’t terribly surprising. In fact, once again, the main casualty of the world is TRUTH. Everything flows from that. What we lose we can never get back when it comes to fabrications all around us. So we start out by looking at the continuing degradation of truth in the culture outside of Christ. Then we take a page from our “willful ignorance” file, the one that tells us that the people running Australia willfully suppress the truth, just like Romans says will happen. From our “we already knew that” file, we learn that the hysteria about some sort of “Super Flu” was just that – hype. Test more, get bigger numbers. It’s still a pack of lies and here we go again. From our “we knew that was coming” file, we pull out the one that tells us that we have to cancel New Years’ events because of that thing called “global intifada”. What results were the immigration idolators expecting, exactly? And so goes the world as we turn over another day on the calendar. It’s just another day.

Well, we told you so: 2026 was coming. And we even counted it down on headline days. So while that’s not terribly profound, we all get a week or two to remember to number our days and God says that’s wisdom. While we’re thinking about it, we often resort to New Year’s resolutions to ease the pain of past fails. It might be related to our behaviour, our self-discipline or lack thereof, but we all understand starting fresh, turning a page. But outside of Christ, is wholesale change really just a fantasy? By February, how’s it going? If the answer is “not so well”, we have a far better way: Christian maturity. Growing up in all things unto Christ our Head. The template for all this is the church, but how is THAT going? Not so well. Nevertheless, Christ is the Head, our ever-living Head who sanctifies us by His blood, by His grace. Today we look at some perspectives on how the culture at large has returned to using pacifiers like media and self-love to go the other direction, also known as the Eternal Adolescence of the American Mind. We need grown ups in the culture, and in the church particularly. How does one influence the other? A long look at the 20th century youth cult and what we need to do to grow up.

In the aftermath of yesterday’s shocking headline of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, sometimes the bedrock of truth will go head to head with wickedness and a high price is paid. Worldviews clash daily in these times, but embedded in the series of decisions that were made to take this man’s life over ideology is the true definition of “crossing the rubicon” – and America will take a long time to recover from this, if we do. Today we also discuss the the political polarization fallout of the Sars/Cov pandemic, accompanied by the general declining trust in public health measures that followed, along with more intense political division. If it only took a couple weeks for Fauci and his ilk to shut our country down, why has it taken an additional 4 years to finish a thought on the scam of the century? Well, there are those who are finally getting around to spelling it out. We also chat about lawfare against Trump’s agenda, Senator Tim Kaine’s radical views, and the myth of the Palestinian State. Set for September 22, the UN is continuing to push hard for that unknown state for an unknown people (see, “terrorists”). Today is a special teaching from host Dave Wager. He slows down the Christmas story and reads Luke 2:1–21, letting the details land, Caesar’s decree, Joseph and Mary’s trip to Bethlehem, the manger, the angel’s announcement, the sky filled with praise, and the shepherds rushing in to see what God had made known. From there, Dave brings in reflections from V. Raymond Edmond’s 1960 book Wiser Than They Thought, using imagined conversations and scenes to help us picture what it may have felt like for real people to be standing in the middle of something they could not fully explain. The shepherds are shown as working a routine night shift when heaven interrupts it, and Dave uses that to challenge listeners to stop assuming God only works in “big moments.” He can move in the middle of the normal day, if we’re paying attention.

As the program continues, Dave connects the shepherds’ encounter to other “windows into eternity” in Scripture. He points to Luke 15, where Jesus says there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents, and he turns that into a simple, personal appeal: heaven is not bored, and your response to Christ matters. He also leans on Luke 16’s account of Lazarus and the rich man to underline the seriousness of eternity and the hope of being carried home by God’s provision, not by our own goodness. He returns again and again to the heart of Christmas: God does not need us, but He wants us, love invites a real choice, and salvation is a gift purchased by Jesus, the baby in the manger who became the man of the cross. The closing takeaway is clear, Christmas is not a seasonal story, it’s a fact that changes life now, and it calls each listener to respond to Christ with faith and obedience.

As we celebrate another Christmas on this side of eternity, we want to halt the news in its tracks (since there are never good tidings nor great joy most weeks) and talk about Isaiah, David’s throne, and some of the lighter things that make the holidays joyful. It’s always bittersweet, Christmas – because the chains we have that tie us to this planet mean we suffer hurt, loss and difficulty all through the year. But at the same time that sweet-sour paradigm allows us to rejoice and carry on because on the other side is hope. For those who aren’t drawn into the study of last days, we need to ask ourselves why, because we can’t get to the hope part quite yet. Jesus IS our hope, and while the things of God seem far away at times, He is ever near. He will return. We look at Isaiah 9 which is loaded with familiar Christmas verses, but what are the deeper aspects? Unto us. A Child is born. Children are born every day in the flesh. Oh wait – a Son is given! Humanity, and divinity in one verse. We also talk Christmas carols, full of doctrine; the promise of a Messiah on David’s throne despite a curse in the lineage, and who exactly were those Magi? A fun hour of chat about holiday Spirit and letting God use us however that might look right now.

Mary takes some time today to focus on the end game, geopolitically – and at what point the world runs out of real estate to do a global build-out designed for the final rebellion against Jesus Christ at His coming. The image in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, the metal man depicting the significant world powers that will succeed each other from Babylon to Rome, is one of the greatest, most astonishing prophecies the world has ever been privy to. The end of the matter tells us that in the days of those Roman Empire kings, the toes of the image, the revived Roman Empire – God will set up His everlasting kingdom. As joyous as that is to think about, the process involves going from Satan’s kingdom of man that has ruled for millennia, to the righteous Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is often depicted as the birth process, birth pangs – that increase in frequency and intensity. It also can be summed up this way: “expect turbulence”, and you frequent flyers will understand that. We look at how Satan even got this world as a prize, how he fell, why he was able to offer it to Jesus – and maybe why he has saved his most awful bag of tricks for this late hour. We also look at the importance of Genesis in interpreting Revelation. Most churches don’t pay any heed to their connection, but it is incredible to see all the events that begin in Genesis having their fulfillment in Revelation. As we are on the verge of a new year, let’s be found watching and waiting, and building up our knowledge and understanding of why things are the way they are.

On today’s edition of SUFTT, Mary takes a look at Psalm 73 as a much-needed answer to the wrestling we all do in the face of a world gone awry. Levite, prophet and worship leader Asaph, author of a dozen Psalms, takes us on a tour through his heart and mind over the seeming success of the rich and famous of his time. We wonder at times what he all struggled with, since we have all the knowledge of good and evil at our fingertips through global media. Nevertheless, he certainly had his share of wrestlings when it came to being distracted by those who had it all, and gave no thought to their own eternity. Why do people who know they will die at some point seem to not even care how it all ends? Asaph knew that God is good, and He has a covenant with Israel – but he still had lots of deep questions for His Maker. But has God ever taken away those who vex us with instant relief? No, the rich and carefree have been with us always, it is US who change after being with our God, in His house. A great lesson for us all who struggle with cultural issues and how to respond in our hearts with a life of contentment.

Mary welcomes back Pastor and prophecy teacher David Bowen to look at moments that mattered in 2025. In my lifetime, we largely viewed a new year as a clean slate, filled with potential. Since 2020, we’re pretty much just holding our collective breath, expectations being at historic lows. If I were a youth today, and if I did not have Jesus in my life, I would wonder who what and how this world got so irrevocably messed up. it’s tempting to find someone to blame, but Bible prophecy clearly tells us that this is exactly what we can expect. Nevertheless, with the knowledge of Jesus comes the knowledge of the tension between futility and hope. It’s always difficult to look at current events and come away hopeful, but that is exactly what should happen if we are focused on the Kingdom to come. We talk about 6G with David, the surveillance state, Israel, social credit scores, and much more. What will 2026 look like? We have no idea really, because the devil is in the details, yes – but God is in the big picture. Hopefully, excitement about the wrapping up of all things is contagious.

Mary welcomes back Creationist Russ Miller to talk about the season of time we are in, which altogether looks like an end game in so many ways. Sometimes we think that the world remained somewhat static in culture and innovation until the 1800s, at which time there was an explosion of change in the 20th century. That’s not wrong, because the pace and scale of global transformation has accelerated in dramatic fashion, particularly with the Industrial and Scientific Revolutions. We also think in the church that evolution is the only thing we can think of that has continually warred against a biblical worldview. But the explosion of philosophies and religious movements have also played a huge role.  We talk briefly about what those movements were and are, and then zero in on evolution in particular as the bearer of the most rotten fruit we can imagine over several categories: education, morals, socialism and Marxism, and science probably above all.  An hour of dot-connecting with a highly knowledgeable creation apologist whose many Grand Staircase tours, conference sessions and church and college messages have helped to educate and build up the Christian church about the lies of old earth/evolutionary theory.

Tim and Mary take a look at the headlines, once again – and another news cycle that just bears out how late the hour is. Waking up to a weekend of violence, we have to not only ask ourselves why, but it makes us want to shout from the hilltops: “Enough! Stop it!” The average American does struggle with the lawlessness we witness in bundles sometimes, but we feel completely helpless to do anything about it. We look at why the evil is so ramped up. We also take a look at Europe and it’s unbelievable, unrelenting pursuit of a surveillance state. It makes us all wonder who exactly gave who permission to look at every chat and text their citizens send. Also, we have to examine the underpinnings of the Australian Hanukkah rampage and discuss what Hanukkah actually is. The signs were all there, but just like October 7, there wasn’t enough time or energy to take any of it seriously. How dark will it get before the True Light returns for His people?

Mary welcomes back researcher, author and prophecy student Scott Townsend to chat specifically on Ai in the church. This is a murky subject, because the church has existed for over 2000 years and never once said to itself, “gee we need technology to carry out our mission in the world.” And it will always be so, because worship, discipleship, study and fellowship do not need any additives or preservatives. Yet here we are, ethically working through this thing that the whole world is coming under, as if on cue. The Bible, interestingly enough, only mentions the end game of it, we are in real time seeing its genesis. How can the prophecy student not be on the edge of their seats over this fulfillment in real time? We talk about the issues at hand that the church, which is not to be conformed to this world, had better take seriously in order to be truly effective and rely on our true source of power, the Holy Spirit.

Tim and Mary look at some of the top headlines of the last week. We often ask ourselves, are things winding down, or winding up? Civilization seems to be winding down, in the classic historical sense. What is winding up is prophecy, marching to judgment in an unrepentant world. Where is that pivot point? As we head into another Christmas season, we know that the big moment that changed everything was “unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given”. For God so loved, he GAVE. Ever since that proclamation, lovers of Jesus have anticipated His return. And all the more reason with Israel securely a nation state on the world scene. And that’s just one sign, albeit a huge one. So today, we continue to point to the wind up and the wind down, talking about the focus now on the Middle East and Israel in particular. The Word tells us that there will be a conclusion to the ‘times of the Gentiles’, so we know that one dispensation will wind down, and Israel’s redemption will wind upward.  Another topic today is the latest from the Pope and his pro-Islam pandering, pretty disturbing on every level. Meanwhile, in churches around the nation, pastors are getting creative with Ai in multiple ways. The question is, are they as easily calling on the Holy Spirit to guide, direct and teach? This is an uncomfortable question for those who believe a church should be Spirit led, not Ai driven. We also take apart the Minnesota welfare scandal, and no one should be saying anyone “meant well” on this one. A full hour.

Mary welcomes John Haller to chat about what the world thinks about itself as we approach another revolution around the sun. Since 1986, The Economist has published it’s very own version of short-term prophecy as it relates to the upcoming year. Their covers alone for this issue are worth looking at, seeing at a glance what they think are critical issues that will carry over. Of course, we have the sure word of prophecy to give us the big Kodak, but it’s still fascinating to take it apart and see what they expect. Topics this year include Europe, war and peace, Ai, climate, and geopolitics. One of the biggest celebrations will be America’s 250th – unfortunately, every revisionist and political self-interest group will have a spin, and it will be nothing like 1976. Although, nothing resembles 1976 anyway but really, they will find a way to divide us further and ruin the whole event. The wild card really is Trump, and as John says, this is Trump’s world, we are merely living in it. We never know what to expect. We also get an update from John on his 2 Israel trips this fall. Statistics regarding the popularity of this pursuit are stunning, having increased tremendously over just the last few years. It is estimated that 28,258 users watch porn every second and 35% of all internet downloads are related to porn;  64% of the 18-24 demographic seek it out on a weekly basis. When you add human trafficking as a supplier, there is clearly no lack of demand and it may never go the other direction. We chat about what families can do to keep it far from their homes and thus honor God in this matter as we are commanded. In the 2nd half, we will talk about a book series from Reasons for Hope that are certainly family friendly and edifying, their “Fascinating Facts” series, and how they would make a great Christmas gift. Mary welcomes back Israel expert Jim Fletcher to talk about the winds of change that have blown through the world by looking at a couple of statistics: the 50th commemoration of Entebbe, and the 1000th day of the current war that Israel has bravely fought on multiple fronts. God is surely good to Israel, we see that in hindsight and it flavors our Bible reading time. And He will continue to be, which also flavors our Bible reading time. But not everyone in the church, let alone the world, believes this. We also look at what is happening in New York and beyond, as the democrat party as we know it allows themselves to be bullied by hard-core Communists, or Islamunists, as one pundit put it. Things have been eroding since Mamdani (shockingly) got elected, and now their ideology, plus a generous side order of antisemitism, is being pushed west and legitimized through the ballot box. It’s amazing how quickly things can go from threatening to destabilizing, but here we are in the Summer of ’26.

Well, from Genesis onward, since God promised to send a Saviour to fix our terminal sin problem, all of His promises are yea and amen. And the categories for said promises? Abundant life, a crown of life, a heavenly home, assurance, comfort, answers to prayer, deliverance, protection, the Spirit, power for service, resurrection, rest, wisdom, strength, victory….shall I go on? You get the idea. Such an important subject in a day and age when people do not keep their promises – but God.
