Expert Tips for Creating Client Filters in Your Staging Business24 Aug 202400:25:58

Imagine having a personalized "bouncer" for your business, whose only role is to ensure that only the best-fit clients enter and stay in. How dreamy?

Yes, that's what a Client Filter does.

Whether you are in the growth or accelerate phase, client filters are an important component of establishing and running a dependable clear cut low maintenance business for your team and clients.

Just as your realtors and clients try to handpick the right stager for themselves, you can also choose whom to work with, ensuring that your quality services are delivered to exactly those who need and appreciate them.

With the strategies and examples I share today on hanging this Red Velvet Rope around your business, I hope you will begin to proactively attract ideal clients who make your business more enjoyable and effortlessly filter out those who aren't a good match.

After all, it is important for your staging business success and wellbeing.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN FROM THIS EPISODE:

  • What are Client Filters and why they will help make your business experience so much more enjoyable.

11 Powerful Ways Lead Magnets Can Grow Your Business01 Jun 202400:25:31

We've come quite a long way on our Keeping in Touch series. Remember, we began from how you can promote your staging services without feeling salesy and last talked on how to batch your content creation so that you spend less time and effort being consistent at it.

In continuation, we're exploring the power of a dual purpose valuable resource - Lead Magnets, in nurturing relationships with your home staging business ideal clients.

As a home stager who once struggled and has now fully understood the "turning prospects into paying clients inertia", believe me, you can rely on this component of my KIP strategies to keep you in the face of would-be clients who are actually interested in you and what you offer.

A failproof way to grow your value bank, this could be your guide to starting out on lead magnets as part of your KIP plan or a lesson on how to use it in 10 new different ways.

How To Batch Your Content Creation25 May 202400:32:17

I had an investor on my mailing list for 3 years before he ever reached out for business.

That long? Yes, it was.

For me, what's intriguing is not the number of years he took him to try out our staging services. What is, is that if there had been radio silence from me through those years, that's a prospective client (or even more) lost.

However, since daily creating content for 3 years is something I did not do nor will recommend, batch content creation is the way to staying in the face of your ideal clients consistently and without getting burnt out.

In today's workshop style episode, we'll explore how batching can help you maximize your limited marketing time, keep your name top of mind, and nurture relationships with prospective clients.

From here, you can start to create a content library for keeping in touch where you need it most.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN FROM THIS EPISODE:

  • What is batch content creation?
  • The neuroscience behind batch content creation and why it's better.
  • A real life walk through of the thought process of how I will batch content for my new keep in touch platform.
  • My personal recommendations for batch content creation

How to Handle Negative Business Comparison17 Aug 202400:27:45

On the beats of the soundtrack added by the lawn mower next door, we're tackling a biggie: comparison. Right! A sneaky little monster that can mess with our minds and our business growth. I've seen it come up in my coaching sessions and even experienced it myself—just this morning at the gym!

Seeing someone do something different that I perceived as higher than mine made me doubt my own routine.  But then I had to remind myself why I was doing what I did, while considering my own fitness journey. And here's the deal: we're all on different stages of our own journeys. In life and in running a staging business.

To help you navigate comparison, I'm breaking down the four stages of competence and how they apply to your staging business.  Rather than feel little, understanding this can help  focus your attention on what time, energy and expertise it took them to get there, consequently extending grace to yourself for where you are and want to be.

So, what do you do when comparison hits? Listen in to learn the strategies to navigate this downer and how to use it to propel your business forward.  Remember, everyone's journey is unique, and it's all about progress, not perfection.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN FROM THIS EPISODE:

  • What comparison is like in a staging business.
  • How to know you are stuck in a comparison trap.
  • The four stages of competence and what they mean for your staging business growth.

Business Lessons Learned With Rachel Moore of Mad Mod Home27 Jan 202401:05:30

I interviewed LA's Top Home Staging Company Lead Designer.

A part of a trio renowned for their love of architecture, good design and great lines, Rachel Moore can walk into a room and know exactly what it needs with a glance.

According to statistics, 92% of people fail to achieve their goals.

Have you just newly set goals for your staging business this year?

Grab your favorite beverage, get comfortable, and join me on this brain-blowing adventure into the world of goal achievement.

Let's unlock the power of our brains to start ticking off those goals.

How To Make Your Business Systems More Memorable10 Aug 202400:19:06

If there's one thing that stuck with me from my undergrad classes, it is the application of FORMULAs. They are the cheat code for solving equations and they also function for simplifying business operations.

I know my team is not more magical than anybody else's team, but we have, over the years, done a pretty good job of implementing systems. How?  By making the process as seamless as possible with memorable formulas, acronyms, and quirky nicknames. This unconventional method has not just helped us stay organized, but it has significantly cut down on decision fatigue, making up for when our brains are tired and consequently boosting our efficiency.

I have seen how useful a creative and memorable approach to streamlining business operations is. By applying this strategy, I hope you'll be able to say the same.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN FROM THIS EPISODE:

  • How to Create Memorable Systems using quirky names and formulas
  • Examples of acronyms from different operations in my staging business

How A Project Management Tool Is Amazing For Your Staging Business18 Nov 202300:26:04

I have seen several business owners (not only in the staging industry) who are overwhelmed with the countless tasks and processes involved in running their businesses.

But that is not only what lacking a system does to your business. For example, in mine, I made my first five-figure as a one-man team the month I started to implement a standard operating procedure.

With a team, you have more to do. You have to work with multiple people on different projects with different end goals, but with the same steps.

In that case, rather than be confused or always spend time figuring out what to do, establishing a workflow cadence for every process in your business is one way to stay on top of your games and be organized.

I will be sharing what our workflow is like for several processes at Rethink Home Interiors, as well as how my chosen project management tool works for us.

But remember - Whether you seek new ways to use your project management tool or are just about to choose one, finding the perfect tool is all about what works best for you and your specific needs.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN FROM THIS EPISODE:

  • My favorite project management tool and why.

What's New at Rethink You (That's Just For You)02 Sep 202300:20:23

Heyyyy there, it's great to be back after a much-needed hiatus! In this episode, I share with you the reasons behind my recent break and the exciting changes happening in my business.

During a mastermind session with my business coach, we discussed plans to expand and grow my business consulting programs. That meant creating a Staging Business School.

This transition required some serious contemplation about the future and gathering more support to take me out of roles that could be handled by others—including being the project manager of the Staging Sips podcast

Taking this break was super beneficial. And I want you to know that sometimes, it might be what exactly we need to give our best selves to our lives and business. Rather than lose out on anything, I even experienced growth without active marketing efforts. That was a valuable lesson in the power of rest and reflection.

Now that I am back, I'm thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of the Staging Business School! We will eventually have different tracks tailored to business owners at various stages. As you have always known, I am passionate about helping other staging business owners succeed, and each track will be created with you in mind.

I'm genuinely excited about the future of my business and grateful for your unwavering support.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey! Enjoy this episode and get ready for the adventures to come.

Welcome back!

What You'll Learn From This Episode:

The result of my mastermind session with my business coach, Tobi Fairley.

The importance of pauses in our businesses and lives.

The evolution of our new Staging Business School, its three tracks, and whom they are for.

Whether "Rethink You Accelerate" starting this September is the perfect one for you.

Staging businesses are seasonal.

If you offer staging services only, this is reality.

We have businesses running 12 months out of the year with services that have big bursts of work and then much quieter times. I call these quieter times "Integration Phases" because we can begin to deep dive into our finances, systems, and service mix.

In today's podcast, I share all of the ways our team has used these Integration Phases over the years to make our business stronger. And goodness there are a lot of ideas in here! Enjoy!

Low Value Work Cycles27 May 202300:19:54

We all experience low value cycles in our businesses:

  • Those times when we feel depleted and can't give more.

  • When we don't know what to do.

  • We don't understand why things aren't working.

  • We fear that it's all going to fall apart or never get off the ground

  • River of misery

This is normal.

This is running a business.  Nothing has gone wrong.

If you go back to the first 4 episodes, you will learn that you will go through very distinct phases that include:

  • things not working,

  • you feeling like you are pushing a boulder up hill all the time

  • Not knowing what to do with your time

  • Running out of ideas

  • Feeling uninspired

  • Feeling overwhelmed and frustrated

So if you are finding yourself in any one of those descriptions, I want you to give yourself some grace and some space.

And let's control what only you can control….

4 Ways To Create A Successful (and fun!) Home Staging Consultation06 May 202300:29:21

After more than a decade in business, one of my favorite things to hear is that our clients think our home staging consultation is fun! I love hearing this because I specifically designed our home staging consultation (we call our home staging consultation a Styling Evaluation) process to create fun and empowerment. And I did this intentionally.

When I first started my home staging business, staging was still new in my area. Most people had no idea what staging was or what the process looked like. This was great because I could carve my own path and I quickly learned that I wanted my home staging consultation to be a feel-good process for my clients. I wrote about the childhood experience that informs how my team and I talk to our clients here and here.

The reason I place so much importance on having a great consultation is all about energy. So much of what we do involves putting positive energy and momentum into the world. If we don't leave our clients feeling positive, they will be less likely to be successful. Just a fact. They will resist implementing their staging. So I cannot stress enough how important it is to protect our seller's energy and keep as focused as possible on bringing joy into the staging process. So let's dive into 4 ways our team accomplishes this!

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN FROM THIS EPISODE:

  • Why creating a positive and fun consultation is important.
  • Two words you should never use in your consulation appointment.
  • How to reduce resistance from your clients to your recommendations.
  • How to use education and empowerment to your advantage during the appointment.

Why Even My Business Advice Might Not Be Right For You29 Apr 202300:21:25

Today I'm going Unstaged on the podcast.  Unscripted and riffing on what I see as a pitfall when newer business owners get advice from those of us who have been running our businesses for longer.

We simply forget.

We forget what it's like to be where you are.

And, while well intended, we can give advice that isn't realistic for a newer business owner.

Listen in to find out why.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN FROM THIS EPISODE:

  • The lens that you need to put every piece of business advice through
  • Why established business owners (including myself) unintentionally give advice that isn't always helpful to newer business owners
  • Practical things to consider around your vacant staging services
  • A resource to help you respond from a place of groundedness to most of the requests and situations you find yourself in.

How To Schedule Your Home Staging Consultations22 Apr 202300:16:16

Tech alert! This week's podcast is a little tech heavy but...learning how to create this process I'm sharing will save you hours of headaches for the resto of your business.

This episode is a deep dive into how we have our clients schedule their home staging consultations. On the face of it, it doesn't seem like scheduling a consultation should be that hard. But, my word, it really can be!

I thought hiring an administrative assistant would make the process of scheduling consultations so much better for our clients and it did.

But, it wasn't a perfect solution.

What I'm sharing today is a much better solution.

What's A Lead Magnet? And 11 Ways To Use One To Grow An Amazing Home Staging Business15 Apr 202300:25:31

08Having a lead magnet is an important part of your marketing strategy.

One of the unexpected surprises I had, when I was growing my staging business, is that I actually had to be the Chief Marketing Officer even ahead of being the Lead Stager in my business. And as you grow your business, the scale will be tipped for a period of time in the direction of spending way more time marketing than staging.

In the beginning, I really resented the amount of time I spent marketing because it never felt like there was a direct return on that time. I had no idea that clients don't start calling right away after a marketing encounter. But what I have learned is that there is typically a delay between our marketing efforts and getting new clients and that delay is totally normal in a business. Totally. Flipping. Normal.

That means you really need to embrace digital marketing because it takes time and consistency to nurture the seeds that turn into clients. Lucky for us, with the internet, we don't have to do all of the heavy lifting ourselves.

You can rely on one of my favorite digital marketing strategies–the Lead Magnet. It may not sound sexy, but listen in and it just might become your new favorite marketing buddy too!

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN FROM THIS EPISODE:

  • Where digital marketing falls into your overall marketing activities
  • How to bridge the gap between your in-person marketing activities and bringing them into your digital community
  • What's a lead magnet and what do you need in place to make it an amazing marketing tool for you
  • How to turn one idea into 11 different lead magnets

How To Change Course When Systems Aren't Working in Your Business01 Apr 202300:22:09

Are the systems in your business not working the way you want them to?

Systems in business are the equivalent of habits in life.     If you think of systems in this way, they automatically begin to make more sense.     The beautiful thing is you can tackle creating and maintaining systems the same way you would in creating and maintaining a habit—start with improving the smallest thing, repeat it over and over, get back on track quickly when you lapse.    But inside a business, there's one more piece of the equation.    In order to improve systems that aren't working, you need to create organizational habits and alignment.  That's a little different skillset.    This podcast episode will guide you through that process.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN FROM THIS EPISODE:
  • When is the best time to work on improving your system that isn't working.
  • An easy step-by-step protocol to fix a broken system.
  • A simple goal setting system to get your entire organization working toward a common objective.
