Support the podcast through Patreon here!

Bl. Anne Catherine Emmerich is a mystic, seer, stigmatists and perhaps one of the most influential figures when it comes to Marian visions.

Her visions were largely used for Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, and a lot of scenes from her visions are repeated often in art, homilies and general legends of Our Lady, Christ and the saints.

The Lord's Line: Listener Q&A! (Demons, Supernatural, Patron Saints + More))12 Aug 202401:38:26

Support through Patreon here!

We're back with another listener Q&A - happy to bring this segment back.

Here are a few of the topics we'll be discussing:

  • Do we "have" to believe in the supernatural elements of Catholicism?
  • Why would God give the stigmata?
  • Why is the stigmata through the palms rather than the wrist?
  • How do we know if the mystics and saints weren't just suffering from mental illness?
  • Are supernatural experiences demonic?!
  • Is it always demons?!
  • Should we strive for experiences in prayer?

& more!

St. Hildegard von Bingen is one of the most beloved and interesting saints, mystics and doctors of the church.

Did you know we are all called to be cosmic priests?

In our first nature mysticism episode we discuss a unique, yet orthodox, concept in Christianity called the Cosmic Priesthood. We discuss this terminology, it's roots in saints such as Bonaventure and Maximus, as well as it's modern use by popes such as Pope Benedict XVI.

This unique concept allows us to see all of creation and all of nature with new eyes.

When we think of the phrase “Who Am I?” we often think of eastern mysticism, and yet, the concept of the true self is deeply rooted in Christianity and Christian mysticism.
This is widely seen in St. Catherine of. Siena’s writings. In this episode, we’ll explore her concept of the Gentle Mirror of the Soul. Which is using God’s love to burn away the false self, to give light to the image of God in which we were made.

Lectio Divina: The Mystical Reading of God's Word19 Apr 202300:43:11

The bible isn't just a text to for historical and scriptural insight. In fact, the bible has always been a means to have a unique, personal, direct discussion with God. This is most seen in the meditative practice of Lectio Divina, but sadly, this practice has fallen away for many spiritual seekers, despite it still being highly recommended today.

In this episode we discuss Lectio Divina as a meditation, as well as a way to receive divine insight from the Holy Spirit.

In the final episode in our trilogy on St. Teresa of Avila, we look into her best-known work, The Interior Castle. Here she discusses the path of the soul on its journey to God. While the Interior Castle is a very deep work, for simplicity, I'll be focusing on the main grades of prayer in it's "mansion". This is a very approachable way to view the Castle, and also a practical approach.

I am also including a link above to a written overview of the Castle from the viewpoint of the grades of prayer. You can find additional content on Patreon and on my Instagram.

Mystical Testimony + The Eyes of God27 Jan 202300:34:43

Following this episode, I will soon be off on a brief hiatus to write my series on the mystics. Thus, I felt it was time to open up about my own experiences with the divine.

This isn't to set myself apart, as I am a broken human like us all - but to showcase my philosophy, of how spirituality should start from the heart, and be an exercise of love, rather than an exercise of logic.

In this reflection, I discuss real experiences I've had in prayer that have shaped my view on God, that has allowed me to go beyond logic, beyond the human, and rest in the mystery.

I hope you enjoy me opening up in this episode, and I am very excited to revamp the podcast with our upcoming season on the mystics.

Thank you for all your support.
