| Amanda Thought Getting Sober Would Cost Her Everything. She Was Wrong | 29 Sep 2026 | 01:11:52 | |
Amanda built much of her identity around partying. Drinking, drugs, festivals, relationships, and a large social circle weren’t just things she did—they had become part of who she believed she was. Even when a doctor warned her that continuing to use drugs could kill her, Amanda couldn’t imagine stopping. In her mind, getting sober meant losing her friends, her relationship, her social life, and everything she considered fun. As things progressed, Amanda began experiencing seizures. Then, after taking 30 days away from alcohol and drugs, she suffered another seizure while driving, crashed into a light pole, and ended up in the ICU. She says she experienced dozens more seizures in the hospital, spent days in a coma, and was told she had died for approximately five minutes. When Amanda woke up, she began questioning everything she had built her life around. In this episode, she talks about the reality behind her party lifestyle, losing her father, relationships, external validation, loneliness, walking away from her old life, and what it has actually taken to rebuild. Today, Amanda is over a year sober—and says getting sober was the first domino that changed everything. You don’t have to wait for your worst-case scenario to decide you want something different. | He Thought He Would Die Drinking: Sober Dave’s Story of Alcohol Addiction and Recovery | 11 Sep 2026 | 01:21:00
David Wilson, better known as Sober Dave, spent decades drinking before alcohol slowly took over nearly every part of his life. What began with drinking socially eventually progressed from beer to cider, wine and finally vodka — at his worst, Dave was drinking around a litre of vodka every night. He would wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning still drunk, go to work hours later, spend entire weekends drinking alone and regularly black out. Looking back, Dave says he remembers very little of his 40s. But on January 7, 2019, something changed. A friend reached out and simply asked Dave if he wanted to stop drinking with him for three months. There was no judgment or lecture — just an offer of support. Dave said yes, and he hasn’t had a drink since. In this episode of the Sober Motivation Podcast, Dave talks openly about the progression of his drinking, isolation, shame, the childhood experiences he never dealt with, losing his identity to alcohol, and why getting sober eventually required much more than simply removing the drink. Dave and Brad also discuss connection, self-compassion, relapse and setbacks, nervous-system regulation, changing your relationship with alcohol, and why you don’t need to wait for a devastating rock bottom before deciding to change. If you’ve ever wondered whether your drinking is “bad enough,” or you’re struggling to imagine a life without alcohol, Dave’s story is a powerful reminder of how much can change when you’re willing to start with one day. | Quitting Drinking Without a "Rock Bottom": Paula's Story | 05 May 2026 | 01:00:23
You don't need a rock bottom to quit drinking. No DUI. No lost job. No moment where everything blows up. For Paula, life looked great from the outside, a beautiful home in South Florida, two kids, a marriage built in the alcohol industry, and a career soaked in alcohol. Nothing was falling apart on the outside or so she thought. She made every soccer practice. She was the homeroom mom. But the hangovers were getting worse, the blackouts had started, and her kids were beginning to see two different versions of her. In this episode of the Sober Motivation Podcast, Paula shares what she calls the "miserable middle" of drinking. The place so many high-functioning drinkers get stuck. Nothing is bad enough to quit, but nothing feels right either. She talks about growing up with a normal relationship to alcohol, building her entire career around it, falling into the mommy wine culture trap, and how managing her drinking became more exhausting than the drinking itself. After 30 years of drinking and four years of being sober curious, it was her teenage daughter's words that finally broke through: "I can't take these two different people." That was Paula's day one. November 2, 2022. We cover:

| 27 Years Sober: How Dr. Donald Crowe Quit Drinking | 13 Apr 2026 | 01:05:16 | |
Dr. Donald Crowe was telling patients they needed to stop drinking. Then he'd go home, open two bottles of wine, and pass out. Every single night. A physician with 40 years in medicine, Donald started drinking in college and spent the next two decades convincing himself it couldn't be that bad because his career was still moving forward. A possible ALS diagnosis at 40 gave him the excuse to drink harder. He lost his first marriage. He chose alcohol over her. When legal consequences finally forced him into treatment, three months of sobriety cracked open a truth he'd been hiding from: "I wasn't drinking to feel better. I was drinking to feel less bad." You'll hear about: the bitters experiment that proved his brain was wired differently; defending your drinking as an early warning sign; why consequences aren't the real measure of a problem; building a life where resistance is unnecessary.
