Dor Shachar, born Ayman Abu Sobuh in 1977, was the third son of a Muslim family in Khan Yunis, Gaza. At the age of four, witnessing a Jewish soldier putting on tefillin, he knew deep inside that he was a Jewish soul born in the wrong place. At 13, unable to suppress his true identity any longer, he fled to Israel, declaring himself as the first of a new Jewish lineage.

Rabbi Elie Kaplan Spitz served as the spiritual leader of Congregation B’nai Israel of Tustin, CA, for over 33 years and as a member of the Rabbinical Assembly’s Committee of Jewish Law and Standards for 20 years.
