Dale and Shaun are excited about the arrival of Lisandro Martinez.

The Argentine has previously played as a defensive midfielder, but over the past two years became a vital part of Erik ten Hag's defence, playing alongside Jurrien Timber. Timber is seen as the next best thing to come out of the Amsterdam club, however, it is understood that he will be staying put for at least another year.

We joke about the media's fascination with Martinez's height and hope egg doesn't splash on our faces when the season begins.

Manchester United gave Melbourne Victory a lesson at the AAMI Park stadium. It was to be expected.

Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford got on the scoresheet. To make matters worse for Melbourne Victory, who were playing their first game in pre-season, one of their players kicked the ball into his own net to make it 4-1 at the end.

Dale shares some immediate thoughts on the game and reacts to the signing of Christian Eriksen. There’s also some news on Lisandro Martinez, who we expect to be announced in the coming days.

The Dutchman marked the occasion with a strong starting line-up, with Bruno Fernandes named as captain, while Harry Maguire sat out the game due to a minor injury.

We also come away from Bangkok after beating the Scousers 4-0! A fantastic day at the office, but we are not naive enough to suggest the rest of Ten Hag's journey will be plain sailing. We suspect there will be a few bumps along the way even if the early signs are encouraging. 

Dale looks at Ten Hag's approach to the game and some of the noticeable tactics from the first 90 minutes. The centre-backs were adventurous, our full-backs pressed high up the pitch and we created plenty of chances in the first-half.

Wayne Rooney is Manchester United's all-time leading scorer and the only player to have scored 250 goals for the Reds.

He hung up his boots at the age of 35 and currently manages Derby County, so the lads take a look back to his time at Old Trafford after bursting onto the scene at Everton.

We decided to focus on Rooney because he will undoubtedly go down in history as one of United's - and, indeed, English football's - greatest-ever forwards.

Rooney has won everything he could have in a Manchester United shirt.

Born in the Croxteth suburb of Liverpool, he grew up supporting Everton. It was evident from an extremely early age that he would never be far from a football. He excelled for Liverpool Schoolboys - scoring a record breaking 72 goals in the 1996-97 season, a record that stood until 2010. With performances of this magnitude, he would inevitably attract much attention.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has some big games coming up and neither Dale or Nards are confident about Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly forming a pairing at the back. David de Gea had his best performance in years and the manager thought he was the best goalkeeper in the world (again) on Wednesday night.

It went very wrong against Young Boys but, despite what you see across social media, nobody on this podcast is calling for the manager’s head. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is doing a good job, but he needs to do a great job.

The Italian football journalist joins me for a run down on everything Manchester United in the transfer market.

Manchester United are still in the process of completing a deal to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and reports suggest they will quickly turn their attention to signing a centre-back to bolster Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's defence.

Paul Pogba's future remains up in the air but United's stance is clear. They want the Frenchman to stay and sign a new contract -- now with France out of the Euros, we should see movement on that front soon.

We also talk about Eduardo Camavinga, who has been heavily linked with a move this summer. His contract expires at Rennes next summer and United could see that as a potential bargain down the line.

Yes, we'll get over it. It's a second-rate competition at the end of the day but it's worrying to see Manchester United fall at another hurdle. How many more until Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wins a trophy?

That final produced more questions than answers. In this episode, I talk about how only United two players can be proud of their performance in Gdansk and what is next for the manager.

We've got a busy summer coming up and hopefully United are busy because Solskjaer needs to be backed. The squad isn't strong enough to compete and the board needs to address that to give Solskjaer any hope.

That is what Old Trafford has become under the Glazer family’s ownership. Gone are the days it can be known as the Theatre of Dreams unless you can convince me Marcus Rashford always wanted to beat Villarreal in a Europa League final.

Jokes aside, quite a serious podcast for you this week. I haven’t pressed record in over two weeks due to being in hospital (again), so I returned this morning on my own to discuss the latest protests and how I believe the Glazers are feeling the pressure.
