Your Body Is Not the Enemy: Rethinking Health, Beauty, and Body Liberation | Paula D. Atkinson
mardi 8 septembre 2026 • Durée 01:11:50
What if the body you've spent years trying to control, criticize, change, or fix was never the problem?
In this episode of Shine In & Out, Samantha Stoltz sits down with Paula D. Atkinson, a liberation focused psychotherapist, educator, speaker, and advocate whose work challenges conventional ideas about health, body image, eating disorders, and wellness.
Paula has spent nearly two decades working with people experiencing disordered eating, food obsession, exercise addiction, and body hatred through a weight neutral, anti diet, body liberation approach. She also taught the history of fat phobia, eating disorders, and body fascism as a professor of Weight & Society at George Washington University.
This conversation goes far beyond body image.
Samantha and Paula explore how we learned to associate thinness with health, appearance with worth, and control with virtue. They question the cultural and economic systems that teach us to treat our bodies as problems to solve, and they explore what can happen when we stop fighting our bodies and begin listening to them.
Paula also shares her own journey from childhood body shame and anorexia to discovering a deeper sense of peace, freedom, and sanity around food and her body.
At the heart of the conversation is a powerful idea:
Your body is on your side.

Stop Chasing More: How to Create a Life That Actually Fulfills You
mardi 1 septembre 2026 • Durée 01:17:28
What if the life that looks successful on the outside still doesn't feel fulfilling on the inside?
In this episode of Shine In & Out, Samantha Stoltz sits down with Dr. Judith Wright, inspirational speaker, world class coach, best selling and award winning author, and founder of LiveWright, to explore what it really means to create a fulfilling life.
Dr. Wright shares how her own dissatisfaction with constantly striving for more became the starting point for decades of research and work around human potential, fulfillment, and personal transformation.
Together, Samantha and Dr. Wright explore why achieving the next promotion, award, accomplishment, or goal does not necessarily create lasting fulfillment. They discuss "soft addictions," including overworking, scrolling, over eating, over busyness, and other seemingly harmless habits we can use to distract ourselves or seek relief.
The conversation also explores the difference between striving to prove yourself and pursuing something because it is genuinely connected to your passion and purpose.
Samantha and Dr. Wright talk about defining your own values, making small decisions that align with those values, questioning automatic thoughts, understanding your emotional reactions, discovering your purpose, and learning to treat yourself with greater compassion.
Because transformation doesn't always happen through one dramatic decision.
Sometimes it happens through one small choice at a time.
✨ In This Episode:
• Why success and achievement don't always lead to fulfillment• The difference between relief, distraction, and genuine fulfillment• What "soft addictions" are and how they can keep us from what we really want• Why we keep chasing the next accomplishment• How perfectionism can keep us from fully living• The importance of defining your own values and your own version of success• How small decisions can create meaningful transformation over time• Why your thoughts are not necessarily a reflection of who you are• How triggers and reactions can reveal parts of ourselves we haven't fully integrated• Why discovering your purpose requires experimentation and a willingness to make mistakes• The importance of allowing yourself to feel your emotions• How self compassion can change the way you relate to yourself• Why caring for yourself can help you have more to give to others• Creating a life that feels authentic, purposeful, and deeply fulfilling

What Men Are Really Hungry For: Beyond Strength, Success & Masculinity |Paul Hennessy
mardi 18 août 2026 • Durée 59:07
What are men actually hungry for beneath the pressure to be strong, successful, capable, and in control?
In this powerful episode of Shine In & Out, Samantha Stoltz sits down with Paul Hennessy, a Jungian embodiment coach who helps capable men become their own men and live from a genuine sense of “this is who I am, this is what I want.”
Together, Samantha and Paul explore the expectations that can shape a man's identity—and what happens when those expectations begin to feel disconnected from who he actually is.
The conversation goes beyond traditional ideas of masculinity and self-improvement, exploring parental conditioning, self-sabotage, vulnerability, authenticity, emotional depth, purpose, and individuation.
Paul shares his perspective on why becoming your own man doesn't necessarily mean rejecting or cutting off your parents. Instead, it can mean separating from the psychological expectations and patterns you've inherited so you can begin making choices from your own inner authority.
Samantha and Paul also explore the pressure men can feel to be perceived as strong and successful, and what may exist underneath that performance. What happens when a man becomes more intimate with every part of himself—including the parts he may have learned to hide?
Ultimately, this is a conversation about moving beyond who you were told you should be and beginning the process of discovering who you actually are.
