| Why Insight Isn’t Enough: Why You Still Feel Anxious Even When You Understand It | 06 Jan 2026 | 00:14:12 | |
You can understand your anxiety and know where it comes from. And still feel anxious. If you’ve ever thought “I get it… so why does this still feel so hard?”, this episode is for you. I explore why insight alone isn’t enough to stop anxiety and why feeling anxious doesn’t always mean you’re stuck in familiar unhelpful patterns or that you’re failing. From a trauma-informed, nervous-system lens, I explain why your body can still react even when your mind knows you’re safe. We’ll look at the difference between conscious understanding and body-based (implicit) memory, and how your nervous system responds to perceived threat rather than logic. This episode isn’t about using motivational slogans or ‘just think positive’ advice - It’s about understanding anxiety with the compassion, curiosity, and context needed to work with your nervous system, not against it. And to remind you that you’re not broken. Your body has been trying to keep you safe. | Why January and New Year’s Resolutions Make You Feel Like You’re Failing | 30 Dec 2025 | 00:27:39
January and New Year’s resolutions leave many women feeling like they’re failing -even when they’re trying their best. In this trauma-informed episode, we explore why January so often triggers self-criticism, shame, and the sense that you’re “not consistent enough” or “not disciplined enough” - and why this isn’t a personal failing. This isn’t a motivation or willpower problem. More often than not, it's a capacity issue. We talk about how cultural ideas around productivity and self-improvement ignore emotional labour, people-pleasing, burnout, and the invisible ways many women are already holding everything together. In this episode, we explore:
This episode is an invitation to move away from “What’s wrong with me?” If January leaves you feeling behind, frozen, not good enough or quietly exhausted, this episode is for you. This episode is part of She Is Here™ - a podcast for women who worry that they're too much and yet not enough. Charlotte Bailey a trauma-informed psychotherapist explores people-pleasing, trauma, conditioning, nervous-system safety, and combines, clinical expertise with relatable lived experience and spoken word poetry to help you remember and reconnect with who you were before you were taught to be less. | The People-Pleasing Path That Leads You Away From Yourself | Ep 47 | 02 Sep 2025 | 00:08:05
I share what it’s really like to walk the well-worn path of people-pleasing - the one that promises peace, acceptance, and connection, but actually leaves you feeling lost and disconnected from yourself. I talk about the hidden costs of always saying yes, the silent panic when you even think about saying no, and why it can feel like you don’t even know what you want anymore. Most importantly, I explain why people-pleasing isn’t a fixed personality trait - it’s a nervous system survival response. You didn’t choose this path, but you can choose differently now. And even though stepping off it feels scary and uncertain, that anxiety isn’t a sign you’re doing something wrong - it’s a sign you’re heading off the path, to make a new one. One that will lead you back to yourself. | From Overthinking People-Pleaser to Solo Festival Raver | Ep 47 | 26 Aug 2025 | 00:17:54
Past me would NEVER have done this. When I was in my anxious, overthinking people-pleasing prime, I’d never have walked into a festival alone. I’d never have volunteered alongside a team I’d never met, doing something as unfamiliar as therapy in a bell tent. And yet, what struck me most this weekend was what didn’t happen: I didn’t spiral for days about what to wear. What to say. Whether people would think I was “too much” for asking questions. The fear of getting lost, looking stupid, or not fitting in. And afterwards, I didn’t replay every conversation, cringing at every word. Instead of overthinking, I felt grounded. Present. Happy. If you’ve ever held back because of what others might think, or felt like you’re “too much and not enough” all at once - this episode is your reminder that freedom is possible. | People-Pleasing in the Bedroom: Let’s Talk About Sex | Ep 45 | 12 Aug 2025 | 00:33:23
A lot of people hadn’t realised I’m trained in Psychosexual Therapy and Sex and Porn ‘Addiction’ Counselling, and when I recently shared a post talking about my credentials, I was asked to do an episode on the subject of people-pleasing and sex. And I’m really glad they asked, because it’s a topic that doesn’t get spoken about enough — and on reflection, I’m guilty of that too! Yet if you’re a people-pleaser and often say yes when you want to say no, struggle to express how you really feel or what you want, and strive to make everyone else happy — often at the expense of your own happiness — then of course people-pleasing is likely to show up when it comes to sex In this episode, I chat about:
It’s my hope that this episode helps you feel less alone with any struggles or difficulties you have around this topic — and gives you hope that things don’t have to stay this way. Look out for a second part to this episode in the near future, when I’ll be joined by a fellow psychosexual therapist to discuss more practical ways to address these difficulties, how to communicate your preferences, wants, and needs (and the things you don’t want!), and how to reconnect with your sexual self too. I hope you find this helpful — let me know what you think over on Instagram. | I Thought I Was Being 'Professional'... But I Was Actually Avoiding Being Visible | Ep 44 | 05 Aug 2025 | 00:12:12
In this episode I reflect on 8 years ago, when I started my business, my private practice. At that time I had a Facebook Page... and no other way to market myself. I rarely shared the Facebook Page because - I told myself I was being 'professional' - I didn't want to 'push' my services on to people, because that would be unethical. Even as a self-aware therapist with 20+ years studying psychology it took me a while to notice that I was actually avoiding putting myself out there - it wasn't really about professionalism at all, it was actually about protection. I'm sharing this with you alongside some ways avoidance can masquerade and thoughts to look out for - so you can spot when you might be avoiding visibility at and start noticing with curiosity not criticism, what might really be behind that avoidance and how to start taking manageable steps forward. If you're a woman in business and this episode resonates I would love for you to join me and the other speakers at the amazing Reignite & Rise retreat taking place in the UK on 7 October 2025 at Carden Park Hotel Cheshire - I'll be delivering my talk/workshop 'Reignite From Within: Rise With Visibility That Feels Like You'. You'll discover what's really holding you back, reconnect with the 'why' behind what you do, identify what you can do to start moving forward with confidence and rise with visibility that feels like you. I'd love to see you there! | What is People-Pleasing? and Why don't you realise you're a people-pleaser? | Ep 43 | 29 Jul 2025 | 00:25:08
What is people-pleasing? and why do so many of us not realise we’re doing it? In this episode I talk about what people-pleasing really looks like - from the outside and the inside. Because I never used to call it people-pleasing either. I just thought I was being “nice,” “easy,” “helpful.” But behind that laid-back, dependable exterior? I was anxious, overthinking, and quietly abandoning myself every single day. I cover:

| Is Your Teenager a People-Pleaser? Early Warning Signs and How to Help | Ep 42 | 22 Jul 2025 | 00:39:03 | |
In this episode, I’m covering a question I've been asked on Instagram a few times now: “How do I know if my child is a people-pleaser and what can I do to help?” To do this episode justice, I’ve invited the brilliant Becky—an Anxiety Coach for Teenagers and fellow recovering people-pleaser—to join me in exploring this important topic. Becky talks about the work she does, what people-pleasing can look like in teens, and the early warning signs for you to look out for. Becky shares practical, compassionate strategies for helping teens break free from self-sacrifice and begin to build confidence, self-trust, and important emotional boundaries. | What Another Therapist Posted Shocked Me into Speaking Up Online - And I Didn't Spiral! | Ep 41 | 15 Jul 2025 | 00:25:10
Have you ever read something online that didn't sit right with you? Maybe you noticed your heart race and the real pull to say something - but after re-reading your response so many times, worrying it doesn't sound 'right' ... it just felt easier not to post it, to stay silent. Or maybe it didn't even cross your mind to respond - it didn't feel like speaking up was an option you were allowed to choose. In this episode, I share a real-life moment where I didn't agree with someone and I did speak up —and how that reflects a significant shift from people-pleasing, overthinking, and fear of being seen as “too much.” In this episode I explore:

In this episode I've got Erin joining me - a somatic therapist from Baltimore who also works with people-pleasers, whilst we've followed each other on Instagram for a while, this is the first time we have 'met' and chatted. We chat about; how it can reactivate fawning and over-functioning or intensify existing people-pleasing tendencies, what becoming a Mum can bring up for us about our own childhood, how being a mum can help heal our inner child, the impact of the pressure to be the perfect mother, why making mistakes and ruptures in relationships can be a good thing and lots more. | You’re Self-Aware… But Are You Sure You’re Seeing Things Clearly? | Ep 35 | 27 May 2025 | 00:12:26
In today’s episode, I’m sharing a really personal moment that completely caught me off guard - and shifted something deep within me. Despite all the therapy, training, and self-awareness I’ve built over the years… it took one conversation with someone else to help me see a belief I’d been carrying for decades. A belief I didn’t even realise was still quietly shaping how I saw myself. This episode is for you if you know yourself — you’ve done the work, you understand your patterns — and yet you still find yourself stuck in the same cycles: We’ll explore why awareness isn’t always enough, how old stories can still run the show without us realising, and what it actually takes to start shifting the patterns that keep you stuck — even if you think you’dve already worked through them. | How Personal Style and Mindset Can Transform Your Business Confidence | Ep 31 | 29 Apr 2025 | 00:43:20
In today’s episode, I’m joined by a very special guest — mindset and personal stylist and founder of The Success Stylist Co, Emma — for a real and relatable conversation about confidence, self-expression, and breaking free from old patterns. So many women describe confidence as feeling out of reach, like something you're either born with or not. But as you'll hear today, confidence is something that can be learned - even if you grew up with limiting beliefs, people-pleasing patterns, and the pressure to fit a mould. Emma shares her own journey from self-doubt to self-trust. We explore the ways childhood conditioning can linger into adulthood, how fear of judgment can cause you to shrink, the reason it's so important to notice and address your mindset when it comes to promoting and being visible for your business and how reconnecting with your personal style can be a powerful tool for healing and self-confidence. If you’ve ever felt stuck in self-doubt, struggled to express your true self, or longed to feel more confident showing up in your business (and your life), this conversation is for you. | Are You As Kind As You Think? The Truth About People-Pleasing vs Kindness | Ep 29 | 15 Apr 2025 | 00:16:23
You pride yourself on being kind — but is it really kindness, or something else in disguise? In this episode, I’m talking about the subtle but powerful difference between genuine kindness and people-pleasing. Because while kindness comes from empathy and choice, people-pleasing is often driven by fear, guilt, or a need for approval — and over time, it can quietly lead to burnout, resentment, and losing touch with who you really are. I’ll walk you through the five types of people-pleasers — from the burnout pleaser to the chameleon — and share practical, down-to-earth strategies to help you tune into why you're saying yes, and what it’s costing you. | She Is Here: Remembering Who You Were Before You Were Taught to Be Less | 23 Dec 2025 | 00:13:27
This opening episode of She Is Here™, marks the beginning of a new chapter - not a reinvention from Let's talk People-Pleasing , but a continuation of a remembering. People-pleasing was never your personality. It was a nervous-system response. A clever adaptation to environments where it felt safer to be less — less loud, less emotional, less honest, less visible. This new series introduces depth and poetry so you can feel what lives beneath people-pleasing: safety, identity, self-belonging, and the parts of you that learned when to soften, appease, or disappear to maintain connection. You’ll hear why understanding your past doesn’t always make your body feel safe in the present and why that doesn’t mean you’re failing at healing. Sometimes anxiety isn’t pathology. It’s information. She Is Here™ is not about forcing authenticity, pushing through fear, or becoming a “better” version of yourself. It’s about discernment. Choice. And learning to reconnect with the little girl inside you who was taught she had to be less to be accepted. This space is trauma-informed, nervous-system aware, and grounded in compassion - with psychology, lived experience, and spoken word woven throughout. You were never too much. She isn’t gone. She never was. She is here. | How to Recognise if You're An Overcomitting People-Pleaser (and how to stop the cycle) | Ep 28 | 08 Apr 2025 | 00:20:48
If you’re an Overcommitter, you probably find yourself automatically saying “yes”, often without even thinking. You’re seen as the 'dependable one', the 'strong one' always available to help. But you end up juggling far too much — running around, squeezing everything in, and quietly carrying the pressure because you don’t want to let anyone down. The difficult part is, even with the best intentions, this pattern can lead you straight into overwhelm. You might feel frazzled, stretched too thin, double-booked, or so burnt out that you end up having to cancel at the last minute — leaving you feeling guilty, frustrated, and stuck in the same cycle again. In this episode, I’ll share how to recognise if you're People-Pleaser personality is The Overcommiter and how you can begin to break out of this pattern. I hope this encourages you to consider the powerful shift of including yourself in the equation —thinking not just ‘How can I help you?’, but also ‘What about me too?’ when you’re deciding how much you can realistically commit to. p.s. yes, if you listen carefully that is Max snoring in the background! | The Hidden Problem with the ‘Let Them' Theory | Ep 27 | 01 Apr 2025 | 00:27:29
Do you get' what you need to do - you've read the self-help books and listened to the podcasts but you just don't feel able to implement the advice? In today’s episode, I’m sharing my view of Mel Robbins’ “Let Them Theory” - the idea that we aren’t responsible for managing other people’s emotions or choices. | Why You Often Feel Like You Don't Have a Choice | Ep 22 | 18 Feb 2025 | 00:22:01
Have you ever felt like you had no choice but to say yes? Like you had to go along with something, even when every part of you really didn’t want to? You might just think, "I have to do this," or, "There’s no way I can say no." For people-pleasers, this feeling can be so ingrained, it doesn’t even register as something you could question. Whether it’s work, relationships, or everyday decisions, you might find yourself trapped in patterns of obligation - feeling like you have to go along with things, even when they don’t serve you. In this episode I talk about where these beliefs and feelings come from, how they show up in our adult lives, and - most importantly - what you can do in those moments when you feel trapped or like you don’t have a choice. | It’s Not a Rebrand — It’s a Remembering | Ep 52 | 14 Oct 2025 | 00:10:59
I wanted to sit down and share honestly where my head and heart are at as I reflect on where this podcast and my message are heading. I've noticed that when I started the podcast I was - sometimes unconsciously -following marketing type “rules” of what I should and shouldn’t cover, how much I should or shouldn't post etc. but I’ve realised those rules don’t always honour the depth of my work - or who I truly am. In this episode I acknowledge my recent reflections and confirm this isn't about a rebrand - it's about remembering and a return - is about returning to my why — the part of me that began this work in the first place. I talk about the difference between rebranding and remembering, why it’s time to stop softening our truth to fit expectations, and how I’m reshaping this podcast to reflect the depth, emotion, and honesty I want to bring to every episode. This isn’t just my podcast - it’s ours.
