Brand new Episode out not episode 29
Ep 29 Which see the return to the world for Mastodon who have unleashed a stunning new track Pushing the Tides https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haT5ars6RXc for me this is classic mastodon at their very best heavy riffs classic grit vocals and soaring hooks and melody honestly cant wait for this album to drop, we could be in for a great end to the year.
Our Hollow, Our Home are new to myself and if you like it heavy then you will like these guys and their single Monarch taken from their Burn in the flood out now, there is a lot going on in this track different vocal styles from growls to clean and then mixed from some rap and this just the vocals guitars switch between heavy riffs to intricate tones, now I’m not normally in for bands like this because I feel once I have heard one I’ve heard them all but I like monarch and what it is to offer so many things going on in and track different layers
Thank you to Public City PR

Brand new episode 28 out now
CottonMouth Altered Mouth Ep
CottonMouth Altered Mouth Ep, I started the journey and was not blown away but as the EP goes on I found myself more drawn to this, its’s an EP that grows throughout do not expect it to come out swinging from the word go however there some awesome displays on shows here, vocally its clean great, if guitars are you thing then there’s some rip roaring open up the havens style solo with some awesome leads on this ep matched by a great rhythm section, I know next to nothing about this band I have seen there named on gig posters and I would been keen to check them out live, as I get the feeling of their sound being more inspired by classic rock bands like Euorpe and Iron maiden in there, this is by no means not a bad thing. A really enjoyable listen
Wow this is so different to his previous body of solo work, this is massive country vibe going on here, it feels very safe as a track don’t expect a ukulele here or the same energy from Pearl jam, this is very much a track where you will have this on driving down a country road somewhere and the sun will be shining, there’s plenty of melody both vocally and guitars. Its nice and cheery just very very different.
Next up are Black Falcon and their single Alone As A God
We had announced the news earlier in the show of the return of mastodon, well if you not a fan of Mastodon but like your prog then perhaps Black Falcon can gain your approval, as they have unleashed a powerhouse of a single Alone as A God, which takes its cues from Mastodon, I can even hear little bits of URNE in hear that’s perhaps because URNE are also inspired by bands like Baroness, Mastodon, riffs are heavy and hit you in the chest, thick bass lines and heavy beats are like thunder in the sky, a beautiful breakdown which is met with an breath taking solo.
straight away I’am met with a wave of riff and vocals that remind me so much of earlier Inflames which I love why well Inflames are incredible, plenty of melody in the guitars and vocals in this offering from eyes wide open, the guitars are great and truly heavy.
What really stood out for me was the melodic break downs as it just takes the energy level down and then slowly builds it back up with more fire and energy then the verse, if you love bands like Inflames, meets Killswitch engaged then this band and this track is for you crank this one up to 11
straight away this is such a cool track with a bass opening line with a really cool tone, I really like the drum beats on this as there is a really cool rhythm and it really is the back bone to the track, vocally its clean and melodic and poppy , the guitars remind me a little bit from a track from the band 1975, overall this is a really cool track with a great bounce and great energy to it.
Next up this week continuing with theme of new bands
wow this has serious Bring me the horizon vibes, such a belter of a single the guitars are very gentle and soft and kick in at certain points a strong vocal display with melody and hooks in the chorus which for me was the highlight of the track as the chorus are big/bold and loud Some awesome synth in the background to tie this track all together
lastly this week I recently had pleasure of attending this year’s Slam Dunk 2021 SOUTH which was incredible
so it only seems right to close out the show with Zebrahead and their brand new single A Long Way Down taken from the III out on the 26 November 2021, make sure to check out the video as it was filmed pre SlamDunk and filming continued into the their time in the UK
I spoke about Zebrahead a few weeks back on the sure and how I never really connected to them as a band but honestly this is the second track from the upcoming Ep III and I love it.
The track openings with a really cool beat, vocally its strong and has some serious hooks both vocally and in the guitars which offer a lovely classic pop punk tone, all this with a classic rap in the track and some serious energy again. So so impressed and honestly these guys are slowly converting a massive shout out to them and all the bands last week at Slam Dunk, as it is still not the easiest thing to attend a show or to put it on.
Thank you to Hold Tight
If you want high octane then this album will be for you, an ep that draws upon styles and sounds from bands like Jimmy Eat World to Deaf Havana, this is an album packed with Melody, hooks plenty of energy and punch in the guitars with some incredible tones
In love with this make sure you grab your copy a massive thumbs up from Setting The Tone
