Silver Lake Track Club: Giving Shoes To Kids & Making Spaces For Runners 26 Aug 202400:45:53

We are back in SoCal this episode as we catch up with Howie as Silverlake Track Club. What started as a local annual race in 2017 turned into a weekly run club in August 2021, the Silver Lake Track Club is in full bloom as a community-based, low-key, highly active run club with a singular mission of providing new running shoes to marginalized youth athletes in Los Angeles.

They just had their Pork Chop Marathon Relay, an unsanctioned 3 x 8 mile relay on the best road route in Los Angeles: shaped like a porkchop featuring a hill you will not forget and will conquer! On September 1st, 2024, they’ll be celebrating their three year anniversary!

In This Episode We Talk About:

-Growing A Run Club From Scratch

-How Howie’s Running Past Inspired Silverlake’s 501(c)(3) mission

-The Importance Of Local Clubs

-Making Spaces To Fit Runner’s Needs

And More!
