It's estimated that 30% of first responders (police, fire, EMS, etc) suffer from behavioral health injuries like PTSD and depression; significantly higher than the general population. Many first responders report struggling with substance use, often turning to alcohol or drugs to cope with the high-stress demands of their jobs.
