The Independent’s Music Editor Roisin O’Connor is bringing you a new fortnightly podcast that delves into the lives of artists, touching not only on their music, but on the experiences and events that shape their lives and work. Welcome to Roisin O'Connor's Good Vibrations. 

The first episode will star renowned Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi, the artist behind albums including 2001’s I Giorni and 2006’s Divenire, and the scores for films such as This is England (2006) and The Father (2020). Other upcoming guests include The Cult guitarist Billy Duffy, Mercury Prize-shortlisted R&B artist Nao, British actor and singer Ben Barnes, Nineties pop icon Chesney Hawkes, and critically acclaimed US alt-pop artist BANKS.

In the first episode of Roisin O'Connor's Good Vibrations The Independent's new podcast, renowned Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi talks about his prolific career as he releases his latest work, the stunning album The Summer Portraits, which was inspired by his memories of childhood.

As well as offering fascinating insights into the making of the record, which was recorded in part at the famed Abbey Road Studios in London, he opens up about the painful family history that inspired his single 'Rose Bay', along with his attitude towards criticism, and his excitement about the long-awaited Oasis reunion.

Over a decade later, she has produced a string of successful albums including 2016's The Altar and III (2019), with her latest album, Off with Her Head, released at the beginning of 2025.

Oscar and Golden Globe-winning composer Hans Zimmer caught up with Roisin about his new documentary film, Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond in the Desert, and reflected on his staggering career to date, as the man behind scores for films such as Inception, Gladiator, The Lion King and Dune.

Hans also discussed how he managed to overcome both stage fright and vertigo with some help from friends Johnny Marr and Pharrell, and shared the story behind his romantic on-stage proposal to his partner in 2023.
