Artificial Intelligence, Real Emotions: Revisiting D.A.R.Y.L.01 May 202501:05:17

So let’s start with the basics. D.A.R.Y.L. was released in June of 1985. The movie follows a seemingly ordinary 10-year-old boy named Daryl who’s found wandering alone with no memory of who he is. He’s placed in foster care with a loving family, and he quickly begins to impress everyone around him—he's polite, obedient, insanely good at video games, and can hit a home run every time he’s up at bat.

But of course, there’s a twist: Daryl isn’t your typical kid. He’s actually an experimental government project—an android with artificial intelligence, designed by the military. And when the truth starts to unravel, Daryl’s creators want him shut down. What follows is part sci-fi escape thriller, part emotional family drama, and a whole lot of 80s charm."

With fewer players than most teams, the makeshift team must overcome obstacles that the best teams in the country couldn't deal with. Game Show of The Future? Let's Talk About The Running Man!11 May 202301:12:43

The Running Man is an action film from 1987 directed by Paul Michael Glaser & it stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Conchita Alonso, Richard Dawson, Yaphet Kotto & more. The film is set in a dystopian United States between 2017 and 2019 and is highlighting a game show that has criminals placed in an area and given the chance to run and get away from the stalkers. Fans get to play along and request a certain stalker and make bets. Captain Ben Richards (Schwarzenegger) is placed in the game along with the 2 freedom fighters that escaped with him & the excitement starts from there. Great movie with great action, not my favorite Arnold movie but still great.

Interview & Hangout With 80's Acting Icon Diane Franklin27 Apr 202301:16:41

Per IMDB :

Diane Franklin is an iconic 80s American film actress, known for her dark curly hair, and dialects. Beginning her acting career at the age of ten, Diane started with modeling, theater, commercials, and soap opera work. She then won the lead role of the dream girl, Karen, in cult classic THE LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN (1982) and soon after played the daughter, Patricia Montelli in AMITYVILLE II: THE POSSESSION. Her break-out film role was the spirited French-exchange student, Monique Junot, from the off-beat comedy BETTER OFF DEAD. And her most notable commercial success was playing the medieval Princess-babe, Joanna, from 1980s iconic comedy, BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE. Diane sang the NATIONAL ANTHEM at Dodger Stadium in 2004, and wrote two autobiographies about her career.

Shakespeare in Love: How a Forbidden Romance Inspired a Classic17 Feb 202500:53:08

Set in 1593 London, the film follows William Shakespeare, who is struggling with writer's block while working on his new play, "Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate's Daughter." He finds his muse in Viola de Lesseps, a noblewoman who dreams of acting—a profession forbidden to women at the time. Disguised as a man named Thomas Kent, Viola auditions and is cast in Shakespeare's play. Their ensuing romance inspires Shakespeare to transform his work into the tragic love story "Romeo and Juliet." The film intertwines their forbidden love with the challenges of theater production, leading to a climactic performance that mirrors their own experiences.

Smokey & The Bandit - 1977 Starring Burt Reynolds Jerry Reed & Jackie Gleason13 Apr 202301:02:28

Per IMDB: Bandit and Cledus are two truck-driving southerners who accept a dare from big-shots Big and Little Enos to pick up a truckload of beer from Texas and return it to them within a specified amount of time. Picking it up is simple enough, but as they are leaving Texas, Bandit unwittingly picks up Carrie, a hitchhiking runaway bride who just left her groom at the altar--her groom being Junior, the son of Buford T. Justice. And when Buford and Junior discover what has happened, they go on a "high-speed pursuit" across the Southeast to catch The Bandit.

I've always loved this movie and thought it was so funny and wanted to do an episode on it and that is exactly what we did today! So let's put that hammer down and get this episode a truckin... cause they're about to do what they say can't be done

Lethal Weapon - A 1987 Film Directed By Richard Donner & Starring Mel Gibson & Danny Glover06 Apr 202300:57:47

in 1987, producers Richard Donner, Jennie Lew & Joel Silver brought to the big screen a great cast of actors & actresses to give us the spectacular movie called Lethal Weapon. Richard Donner directed and Shane Black & Jeffrey Boam wrote it. Mel Gibson stars along side of Danny Glover as a cop on a suicidal edge since losing his wife & becoming partner to Detective Murtaugh (Danny Glover). They stumble upon a huge drug dealing operation while trying to help one of Murtaugh's old war buddies. The further the case goes along the closer they become as partners and eventually just like family. This set off a franchise of movies and a TV show years after the movies started. Personally, it's on of my favorite Mel Gibson films, what are yours? Be sure to sign up for the newsletter/notifications of new podcasts and any news or extra content we publish. Blade From 1998 Starring Martial Artist & Action Star Wesley Snipes30 Mar 202300:58:29

In 1998 we were treated to what a lot or Marvel fans consider to be the first real Marvel movie in Blade. Vampire Killer referred to as the Day Walker because he can be in sunlight. He has all of their strengths but non of their weaknesses. With the help of Abraham Whistler (Kris Kristofferson) Blade (Wesley Snipes) sets out to destroy all vampires he crosses paths with.

I'm Batman!!!! This Week We Are Talking the 1989 Great Tim Burton Film of Batman!23 Mar 202301:10:36

My favorite version of the Batman franchise has always been the original with Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as The Joker. Nicholson played an excellent Joker that is funny yet can show just how psycho he can be and to me Keaton just always made the best Batman. So if you are a fan of comic books and love Batman (where does he get those wonderful toys?) then I hope you enjoy the show. 1985 Action Classic: Commando Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger & Rae Dawn Chong09 Mar 202301:43:49

Arnold has many great action flicks over his career but in the 80's one of them stands out among them all and that is Commando. I think there are more one liners in this movie then most of his put together. It has a great cast in it and the action is spot on as only Arnold can bring it. The Stallone/ Arnold rivalry was big in the 80's and I believe this was Arnold's version or answer to Rambo. Who do you think made the better character?? Arnold as John Matrix or Stallone as John Rambo?

Wolverines!!!!! Let's Talk Some Red Dawn From 1984!02 Mar 202301:01:47

One of my favorites growing up in the 80's was Red Dawn. It told the story of a planned Russian invasion teaming with Nicaragua & Cuba to take over part of America and bring war to our soil. A small group of high school teens get away and run to the mountains where they learn to fight back and help in the war efforts to take back our country. Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, C. Thomas Howell, Lea Thompson, Jennifer Grey, Powers Boothe and more star in this great movie. I hope you are a fan of it as well and if you haven't seen it yet then please do! Return To Rylos: Talking The Last Starfighter with Catherine Mary Stewart & Lance Guest16 Feb 202301:00:37

Growing up in the 80's meant that I was privy to all the greatest TV shows, movies, music and sports. And yes, I am bias towards this time because it's my childhood and that's what we love to talk about here are things from our childhood. I always loved sci-fi as a kid watching Star Wars, Star Trek, Buck Rogers of The 25th Century & Battlestar Galactica. Then, in 1984, Director Nick Castle and writer Jonathan R. Betuel brought us a movie called The Last Starfighter starring Lance Guest as Alex Rogan and Catherine Mary Stewart as Maggie Gordon. This movie has always been my top 10 80's movies and arguably my top 5 and recently I was able to talk with them both about the movie on my podcast. This was practically a dream come true and they were both such nice people and I hope to talk with them again on another day about some of their other projects.

Road House26 Jan 202301:05:19

"All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected. Two, take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice."

Words of wisdom from Dalton as we go over his great hit Road House, this movie didn't do the greatest at the box office but it became a classic and fan favorite to a lot of people over the years. Great cast with Patrick Swayze, Sam Elliott, Ben Gazarra, Kelly Lynch and many others so sit back and enjoy the talk we had as co host this week Ray Franklin and I geek out over Road House.

Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring19 Jan 202301:59:27

In 2001, director Peter Jackson brought to the big screen the world that J.R.R. Tolkien created in his books of The Hobbit & Lord of The Rings. It was a movie with tremendous scenery, great ensemble cast and unbelievable effects to bring to life one of the greatest stories ever written. An epic adventure of 2 hobbits taking on the task of returning the  ring of power to where it was created so they could destroy it before the dark lord Sauron could come back to power. Fights, wars, adventure with just enough touch of everyday humor take us through the journey as we watch the first volume of The Lord of The Rings. The episode runs long today but I don't think I could ever get any movie of The Lord of The Rings in under an hour with there being so much to talk about. :)

Remembering Chris Farley07 Dec 202201:10:29

Today we are remembering Chris Farley and his life as a comedian and actor. His SNL skits will forever play in our minds and remind us of how great he was and how funny he could be. His movies were so much fun like Beverly Hills Ninja, Black Sheep and obviously Tommy Boy. Whether he is paired up against Patrick Swayze in a Chippendale dancer audition or he is roaming the country pushing brake sales for Callahan Auto Factory, he is keeping us laughing.   Chris Farley died at age 32 of a drug overdose just like his idol John Belushi. He was taken way too soon but his lifestyle was not meant for longevity. I sometimes wonder how great he could have been if he had just beat the addictions he had in life. I hope you enjoy the espisode.

Stallone's Greatest Character? Today We Talk Rambo!16 Nov 202201:51:27

We all had our favorite action stars in the 80's and the yall did their version of war movies it seemed and some focused on Vietnam. We had Chuck Norris doing Braddock, Arnold Schwarzenegger doing John Matrix in Commando but then we had the one unique one man army that Stallone did known as John Rambo. Overall he did five Rambo movies but we will talk the first three mostly. In the first he was fighting for himself, in the 2nd installment he goes back into action for his country to help locate American POW's in Vietnam, and in the 3rd one he is back in action to help rescue his friend and mentor Colonel Sam Trautmen. He feels no pain, has no weakness, and for me, he is the greatest Character that Stallone did in the 80's!  Don't hate me Rocky fans!!!!!  I love Rocky as well but Rambo is just a bad man!  I know the episode is long but if you love Rambo you will love the show, and after you listen please leave a rating and a review! Discussing Big Trouble in Little China08 Nov 202201:07:27

Thanks to John Carpenter teaming up up with Kurt Russell yet again, cause if he had not done this back in 1986 then we may not have the great 80's film Big Trouble in Little China!!! I often look back on my favorites in that decade and this is really one of the movies that I would have to have and not live without. Kurt Russell & Kim Cattrall have such great chemistry  together and what more could you ask for in a movie? It has a karate gang fight in a busy alley way, comedy, more action, romance, adventure and more. If you enjoy the podcast then please leave a rating and a review and give us a follow. Enjoy the show!

Nightmare on Elm Street 1 & 3: Nancy's Story25 Oct 202201:15:34

I am joined by Tim of 80's Flick Flashback this week to talk about the movies Nightmare on Elm Street Parts 1 & 3. I chose these 2 movies because both of them carried through Nancy Thompson's story. They are also probably my favorite 2 movies of the franchise. It's hard to beat the original and Dream Warriors was just a great movie. Robert Englund and Heather Langenkamp had a great 1st movie together and part 3 expanded on their rivalry and brought in new blood for the franchise that had us hooked from the start of the movie not to mention we get to understand the origin of Freddy and how he came about. I hope you enjoy the episode, Elm Street was my favorite 80's horror franchise.

Please, if you like the episode, follow and subscribe and be sure to give us a rating and a review and share us to your social media. These small things help me grow so much and help get me get ranked.

The World of Star Wars21 Sep 202201:08:53

This week we take a trip to a galaxy far far away and talk about a lot of things Star Wars! And the thing is, the Star Wars universe is so vast and the history & lore is so deep that we could never talk about it all in one show, I would say we skimmed over it at best and that still brought a great hour of talk about the world we grew up loving in Star Wars. The great ships, the light sabers, the jedi & sith using the force, bounty hunters, different planets and thanks to Jon Favreau and Disney for putting out the great new tv series based on the Star Wars Universe as well.

1979's Great TV Series The Dukes of Hazzard06 Sep 202201:12:54

Straitening the curves, flattening the hills.....some day the mountain might get 'em but the law never will! in 1979 Gy Waldron made a TV series based off a movie he had also done called Moonrunners which was about a family of bootleggers. A lot of people thought it wouldn't work but 7 years later we have a successful show with tons of fans to this day & merchandise & memorabilia that could fill multiple warehouses! The show showed how a lot of southern families lived going by the bible while yet showing how still unperfect that they were and had tons of fun car chases and car jumps by Bo & Luke Duke. We had a blast discussing the show and its something I could talk all day about so I hope that you enjoy it as well and that it brings memories of those good ole boys jumping creek beds and outwitting Boss & Roscoe! The world needs a little more Uncle Jesse & a little less Boss Hogg. YeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaW!

A Decade of Chuck Norris: The 1980's16 Aug 202201:18:38

Did you know that Chuck Norris once swam around the Virgin Islands & when he was done they just referred to them as "the islands"?  The mans beard is so tough he can grate cheese on it! He once got bit by a rattlesnake and after 3 days of excruciating pain... that snake died.  We could tell a ton more of  these and there that many & more out there but let's really get down to it. In todays episode we  talk about the legend in his time, Chuck Norris. Specifically we are going to talk a little on his life before movies and then his catalog of 1980's movies. This is my last episode of season one (episode 25) and some might say we saved the greatest action star for last! So look, don't take any chances and become "missing in action" and don't make us get you with that powerful roundhouse kick from chuck, sit back and enjoy hearing about the man, the myth, the legend

Interview With Little House on The Prairie & JAG Actor Patrick Labyorteaux09 Aug 202201:06:00

What a great time it was to sit down and talk with Patrick Labyorteaux! He was in Little House On The Prairie as Andy Garvey and he was in all 10 seasons of JAG as Lt Bud Roberts Jr. He was in some great comedies in the 80's such as Summer School, Ski School and Heathers and the 3 Ninjas in 1992. He has done voiceover work on the Spiderman cartoon that ran from 1995-1998 and has played bit roles in more tv shows then I can possibly mention here.  He is currently working with people helping them on their way to becoming actors/actresses or voice over artists and you can check that out or even register for a class at www.workingactorsschool.com. Personally I'd love to be a voice over artist and who knows, maybe one day I will have some work out there but until then, just enjoy this interview we had and if you do like it then please rate & review us on iTunes or Spotify if you listen  there. If you watch us on YouTube then subscribe and leave a comment and by all means, please subscribe and follow the audio podcast as I am really looking to grow it to something big we can all love. The bigger I get the more stars we can get to interview for you! =0)
